That’s not what Russell meant. He was just saying newcomers don’t have to watch the previous 40 seasons to understand the premise of the show and have fun.
@@AlmightyBruce If that’s true then why have Tennant lurking in the background? Why bring back Mel and U.N.I.T? He just wants to use the ideas of Classic Who but not in a good way whilst spoiling the Doctor’s character.
@@mr_reborn How can it be a jumping on point when he’s referencing the timeless children? The audience who haven’t seen Whittaker’s era won’t know what that’s all about. I think his writing skills have gone.
I’m utterly fascinated by these comments. I’m excited and joyful for this series as I’m sure are the vast majority of fans. I was the 5 year old child behind the settee as many others were and I remain enraptured.
What a feeble recommendation. "The actor playing the Doctor looks full of energy.." err.... must people are full of energy otherwise they are corpses. What an idiot.
I’m the opposite one the gore attack of the cyber men being one of my favourite stories I loved torchwood because of that the world of Doctor who needs a more violent adult spin-off alongside the main show
The Capaldi era wasn't afraid to show it I mean his final episode was just so gritty like the Cybermen body horror and everyone injured in the space shuttle beautiful twisted stuff of course ....but RTD isn't shy from the macabre he showed a bit in his first era too
While lovers of blood and guts are likely to claim otherwise, might not most fair minded people wonder why crime is increasing at the same rate as violence within TV and film?
It is so odd to think only one view of "adventures and fun" should only be presented by the old ways it was. He's got the stage and the backing, that's show biz! Watch the new or not that's always the choice.
Come and have fun. I love the sound of that. Russell has the right idea. Disappointed we are not getting it on Disney but at least we have iplayer and BBC 1. As a long term fan really looking forward to it. American fans won't like it. They will find something to say to pull it apart as usual.
If you're caught watching the BBC over here, it's like having the bubonic plague they put a bell around your neck when you're on the street and people point and shout unclean unclean
I’m honestly sorry that you feel that way. But don’t for a moment think this Doctor Who won’t be a success, that it won’t be someone’s favourite. Every era of Doctor Who is someone’s favourite (even The Trial of a Time Lord!), but here’s the thing-someone else’s favourite era of Doctor Who necessarily had to end to make it happen. Intrinsic to being a Doctor Who fan is accepting that. No: intrinsic to being a Doctor Who fan is learning to love that, and to revel in the fact that it’s absolutely necessary for the show you loved to end in order to continue.
I've just been reflecting on your comment. I have concluded that all you would need to do is show anyone for whom Ncuti Gatwas Doctor is favourite, Chris Ecclestons reboot and they would switch sides immediately just based on the storytelling and originality. Not judging Ncutis terrible acting.
Outside of millions of loyal fans who watch regardless ....the idea each new era has a fresh start isn't new happens every time ....every few years it's a revamp and continuation of the story like season 1 is a fresh start BUT will continue the god's storylines of the 70s and 80s, will likely have daleks and Davros, will play into timeless Child not knowing where they both are from storyline and will reference time war so fear not
@@HenryCLHarries 'fear not' 😂 okay man, as if this isn't supposed to be seen as an actual reboot. Like RTD said this is a "brand new start". It's not like season 5 or 10, he literally said the words the last 60 years don't matter
Remember when Dr Who was about adventure and real jeopardy and not emotional angst, gobby teenagers with sexual tension and a magic wands that you wave to get you out of having to write an interesting story?
There’s a reason they got rid of the sonic screwdriver in the 5th doctors run I don’t want it to be fully gone but I don’t want the doctor to rely on it too much
@@SamLowryDZ-015 "Gobby teenagers": Susan, Vicki and Zoe "With sexual tension": Adric, Nyssa and Ace "Emotional angst": basically the entire 5th and 7th Doctor eras "Magic wands": applies to pretty much every gadget the Doctor has ever used.
@@TheTARDISGuy203 "You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alters their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit the views" And you don't seem to be that powerful if you need to act like a white knight - so that would make you . .....
How things change in just two years. RTD back Ncuti cast, things look optimistic then we hear Tennent is back for the 60th. All looks great. Then we get the 60th, and it goes all wrong. Mediocre feel episodes with nothing that says yeah its a big feel 60th anniversary episode. But no, just no more then a season 4 extension from 2009. A bi-generation no one wanted and makes no sense. The we get a Christmas special that was anything but special, just a musical abomination, with Goblins and Magic!! And then things go even more downhill with Ncuti's ill advised comments in two interviews attacking older fans. Talk about careful what you wish for, were now paying for it. No wonder most fans have lost interest
The Bi-Generation is the worst thing RTD has done to Doctor Who. He’s full of egotism and Gatwa is in love with himself. Remember when Doctor Who was about an unusual looking eccentric and now it’s all about youth and sex appeal! You couldn’t get more off track from its original premise. This new age of inclusivity doesn’t include older odder looking actors anymore. Sack RTD and the Bad Wolf team.
No more dr who Blu-ray boxes for me until this whole woke crap goes away. We need a real Tardis now to go back in time and fix everything that was ruined to what was once my favorite sci-fi show since the new version got started. But this pronoun woke crap and “diversity” and “inclusion” is just unbelievable. I couldn’t care less if dr who had been a gay character 20 years ago as it would be an interesting move just as a side characteristic for the character, but now in modern days when this woke idiocy was just made to please the “modern audiences” is just disgusting. I’m totally done with who.
Honestly, guys, just because Ncuti will be one of the more camp Doctors, and the fact he's black, give Russell a chance. He's trying to appeal to the American audience probably. Plus he wrote some of the best in Tennant's era
That RTD is going to keep Chibnalls Tineless child retconning of the shows foundations means i won't be back to Who, shame as i had hoped he would wipe that mess away.......but alas no, such a shame, but i won't have the timeless child retcon lore in my home, or Who collection.....Hartnell was the first doctor....end of story.
But things cant magically be retconned just like that overnight, it has to be developed up to in order for it to make sense. If retconning down the line happpens - great; I wasn't a fan of thestory myself. But if it doesn't ; great, it's a chance to tell more stories.
@@spiralx6249 Watching a YT video hoping that RTD says he will retcon the whole timeless child bs.........and here you are getting upset to the point of actually taking time out of your day to reply because a stanger on thd internet said the something about a tv show..............you poor thing. Lo!
I adore Dr Who forever and always i love RTDs mind ....and ageee thebworld today terrifies me so much it scares me ....more than ever ....but i feek why i get a disconnect eith this RTD2 era is the fsct thst it is going to be skewed youbger i felt that in last years specials and the marketing evetytbings focused on colourful mad adventures rather than genuinely thematuc scary stuff bevause i love how dark things get as an act of xatharsis to me....fron RTDs first era, Moffs era and Chibnalls era there was a levrl of sheer darkness satire and tongue in cheek vibes wheeas this looks like the choldish cartoony vibe is forefront .....we shall see but Dr Who i love seeing so much
I was a huge fan of Dr Who but stopped watching half way through the Peter Capaldi stint, I thought it had lost its way. So excited when I heard David Tennent ( my favourite ) and Russell T Davies were back. Very high hopes. So disappointed when I watched and realised that box ticking woke crap had totally ruined what could have been a brilliant show once again. I’m 56 so have enjoyed Dr Who for years since Jon Pertwee but it all went pear shaped after Tom Baker. Russell did a brilliant job bringing it back. Now it’s all gone again very sad.😢
Yet here you still are... and "woke" is a modern euphemism used mostly by racists, misogynists and homophobes. As well as others fondly imagining some 'golden' past.
its wilder ,its broader, much more fun....yeah right russel.Your gay,and thats great, fine, but why the hell so have to push your sexual politics into this....a sci fi show
@@xsm5525the specials did well with regards to ratings. And the quality of the stories have so far been a major step up from Chibnall to say the least.
I was a Dr Who fan right up until they injected unnecessary woke crap. I abandoned Hollywood over 12 years ago. I have no problem walking away from woke Dr Who too. I’ll place a flower on Trenzalore.
