Russ is talking about playing the game either in an angry and aggressive mode that seeks revenge Vs. consciously staying focus and playing within himself as well as staying mindful of his teammates and the overall goal of winning. Cognitively he is recognizing the need to move away from the brain stem to playing in his pre-frontal cortex. It's a sign of his maturity and recognizing he cannot angrily dunk on everything the whole game. Jordan made this same evolution and became a better shooter and started winning his championships. Being angry and releasing adrenaline certainly helps you jump higher and dunk on people but to be a good shooter requires muscle memory and consistency that adrenaline does not help but in fact throws off your consistency.

I like Russ but he’s not intellectual at all and should keep his answers simple. Explaining himself creates the contradictions a sane person hears and comes to the conclusion that “he’s actually full of shit.” He says “just be myself” which is code for “do whatever I want when I want to.” Zero is what happens to be INDIVIDUALLY great AND contribute to TEAM FAILURE.
