In the last 4-5 weeks of the season, Russ played some of the most consistent and efficient basketball. He honestly ended the season on a great note and it is so frustrating to see Lakers fans hating on him and ignoring any positivity. If a player who had such a long rough year dealing with so much hate and attention, managed to come through and end the season so strongly instead of quitting, there has to be some respect for that no matter what.
You always sense that even his worst haters secretly hope Russ proves them wrong. The laughs, jokes, ridicule and memes are fun. But, deep down, we're mostly rooting for this guy. Everyone wants to see a fighter win.
You’re right. The man is in the top 75 of all time, I really want him to play like it. But it was honestly embarrassing last season. I mean he was the worst 3pt shooter in the entire NBA last year, one of the worst FF shooters and there was this stat that said he misses like a third of his dunks… his DUNKS. And all the turnovers, airballs and badly missed shots just made him ‘Westbrick’, and I honestly can’t even defend him from all the hate he’s getting

Russ is a top 10 all time pg, one of my 5 favorite players in the leauge, (LeBron, Giannis, Russ, Curry, LaMelo) and would be a 1st ballot hall of famer if he retired right now, but he has at least 3 more years in him. Last year was a fluke year for Russ, never in my life have I seen him back down from fans, or even look dejected, he was missing layups, and even released a public statement begging people to leave him alone, the old Russ would scream "f you" get an emphatic dunk then move on. I think if Russ stays next year the Lakers can win, last years Russ was rattled and not prepared for the LA spotlight it seems, there's no way hes smoking layups and not confident in himself like he was last year.

we know he didn’t get that average from 3 pointers and mid range shots or even layups. But you’re right I remember more layups that should’ve been easy that we never knew if they were going to go in or not. Much like a rondo jumper

If you compare his highlights this year compared to the ones in OKC, you can see hes lost that "extra" speed boost he gets when he runs the ball into the paint. This obviously is just due to age. Russ was an absolute beast but he changed when he went to the Wizards.
as an okc fan; he changed in those last seasons with pg13 and melo. okc fans saw the decline way before.... we just didn't have anything else so we were blind to a lot of his errors. i wish him the best in LA. But we have SGA now. It's a new era
I think in order for them to be at their best they have to let russ control the offense, AD has to be his go -too/second option and lebron has to be third. They'll have a lot more success .
the problem is Lebron cant play off ball either. u need Russ to control the offense with AD but there is only so much you can work with having bad contracts and changing players throughout the season. the Big 3 do their thing even Westbrook had a number of moments but the overall team was a complete failure. need to fix the money issue with bad contracts and get more size and shooting all around. you could be paying a real 3 and d wing for that 17 mil off of THT and Nunn.
