Dear Russell Wilson, Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. It wasn't something you needed to do, but it is greatly appreciated. You leave zero doubt in my mind and heart that we will be back. You have given a confidence to this team, franchise, and city that has never existed before. The passion you have for winning and excellence that burns inside of you, has spread like a wildfire through every single 12th man. It burns brighter than the sun and is something that will never be extinguished, even long after your football career comes to an end. For that, I am forever grateful. That roar you hear behind you, is me, and every other true 12. We are, and will always be here, cheering on you and the rest of the men in blue. I've always been proud to call myself a Seattle Seahawks fan, but I'm more proud to call myself a Russell Wilson fan. The man you are, makes that something as easy to do in defeat as it is in victory. GO RUSSELL AND GO HAWKS! Calvin Hubbard
Lifelong Hawks fan from 1976. This team is my favorite team of our history by far. All of you play the game the way I believe it must be played. Sure, that was tough way to lose but to me it's one of those "good problems to have" i.e. losing a potential second Superbowl on the last play of the game. Your mindset is awesome - I do believe we will be back. But at the end of the day it truly is not about external or other's judgements, it is how you play the game - with passion, hard work and a true sense of fun and enjoyment. You are the perfect leader and qback for the Hawks. #GoHawks
He didn't throw it away. Malcolm Butler just made a great play. If there's any player in the NFL who is resilient enough to bounce back from a heartbreak like that, it's Russell Wilson.
As a pats fan, I want Russell to get a couple more rings so fucking bad. Just not against us. I love the demeanor of the Seahawks and how they wild out for the cameras. Just an exciting team to watch at the end of the day.
Caveit77777 Wilson chased the unofficial SB 48 MVP Percy Harvin away from Seattle. He doesn't deserve shit and will not win shit the rest of his career. Buffalo wins it all this season and Harvin WILL be the official MVP of SB 50
You're trippin. Percy Harvin is the one who ran Percy Harvin out of seattle cause he's a knucklehead. And even if Brady doesn't win his appeal (which he will), the bills couldn't even win the AFC east if they wanted to lol
Caveit77777 You don't know much about that Wilson-Harvin situation...they might both pretend it doesn't exist but it motivates Harvin...Minnesota just drafted a loser QB...who can blame Harvin for wanting out of that huddle? He's destined to do great things in this league WITH proper respect from his own fucking QB. Percy will finish this year as an MVP candidate..watch and learn. Best player in the NFL.
I agree with ron bennett: Russell Wilson IZ HOF and he deserves it EVEN before he retires. Like Pete Carroll says, "Russell is an Old Soul" WISE beyond his years. At 25, can anyone say they were as mature in WISDOM as Russell is?? Not me, I was in my hayday. Russell knows what is important. Got his priorities in a perfect row. MY MAN RUSSELL
Wow... after feeling so down since the super bowl. I can't wait for next year! So blessed to have a great person in our community. ( not just a player) Thanks Rus. Thanks for coming to Childrens Hospital. Much love. GO HAWKS!
As a die hard Pats fan who has suffered brutal super bowl losses: I really like Russell, he is a winner, and a victim of a genuinely rare play, where he threw a nice pass. From the sounds of things this guy is still going places. Look forward to seeing him bounce back, good person.
Russell great interview and perspective. We are all in your corner. As a Season Ticketholder since 1990, it was tough seeing it happen but we love you and our Seahawks. Stay strong. Go Hawks. The 12s are behind you.
I've been a football fan since I could first remember back in the early 70's and a Seahawks fan since their expansion in 1976. I've watched a lot of players over the years but Russell Wilson is the most poised and positive young player I've seen. I'm so pleased he is a Seahawk and that my kids look up to him, not just for the way he plays football but for his approach to everything. In this video he says something so key. I believe I will be there again. With that kind of belief and the management, players and ownership we have here in Seattle. The Seahawks will be back.
This is a real man right here. He can actually face things and still be positive. Some people usually just hide behind their twitter account. Good for you Russel
How can his career be over? I mean, he is not only an amazing football player but an amazing and humble human being. You have so much ahead of you Russell! And I love you so much I know we will be back in Superbowl 50 breaking all the records their is on the NFL!! God bless you!
Sea Town Call me a bandwagoner all you want, but there's a first time for every fandom. I don't care if you're a ghost of 19th century who predicted the day the Seahawks came into fruition. I can start rooting for them in 2078 if I want to, so you can go and shove your entitlement up your ass.
***** By the way, here's the research you didn't make: if you're gonna come at me with some stupid PED shit, then you must not know the fact that most of those guys don't play for the Seahawks anymore, and were either traded, let go, or retired before the championship season. The only dudes who were accused of it and still playing for the 'Hawks was Richard Sherman and Bruce Irvin, and Richard won the suspension appeal.
His third year in the NFL, he's been to two Super Bowls, one win and one loss, his career isn't over. Brady has won 4 Super Bowls, he lost the last two he went to (before 49). So you can't possibly say it's over for him. He'll return to the Super Bowl again, he'll win it again, him and his team haven't shown any decline. I believe next year is going to be a great year for us. The NFC is a tough conference, but we've shown time and time again that we're a championship team.
You will it's not crazy to think you'll be back Russell we all know the best is yet to come!! I'm a HAWKS fan through and through!! I can't wait for the games to begin!
As a true blue fan we are lucky to have you as a QB. Teams from the past would have loved to have seasons since you started. My dad and I would go to the Kingdom and then to Qwest field dreaming of the Seahawks even getting to a Superbowl. Thanks, for two in a row. Even though you lost; I'm still glad you are the QB. There has never been a QB like you in Seattle. Zorn was good, Craig was good, Hasselbeck pretty good and Russell Wilson great.
The Seahawks have a very bright future along with EVERY player on the team! As a hawks fan, I have full trust in them and I understand that last play in the Super Bowl. The last game is in the past so let's focus on the future. Go Hawks!
I don't blame Russell for this loss. That play never should have been called. If you are going to throw it, at least run some type of play action with Lynch, then throw a fade into the corner where it's either a TD or an incompletion. The play that was called depended on Kearse making a block and Lockette holding on to the ball as he's running into the heart of the Pat's defense. I know that the Seahawks had success with this play in the past, but so did Belichick. Belichick had his team so prepared, that a undrafted free agent made the game saving play.
This kid is the real deal, a true leader with great character. It was one play. It might have been a questionable play, and it might have been executed better. So what? We expect our teams to perform like they're robots, they aren't. They think, they feel, they have varying levels of performance from one play to the next. Russell is young, the team is good and he has room to grow as a QB still. Seattle has a good coach and system, this kid is going to get them to the big game again. He's real, and like I said, he's the real deal. You can't ask for better.
I dont blame Russell for that play i blame Pete if had gave Marshawn the ball nobody would be talking...But it's just a game keep your head up Russ your one of the most talented and underrated Q.B's in the game..
I blame Bevell for even calling that idiotic play on the goal line in the first place, Russell was just doing his job he trusted in the O-coordinator and Bevell failed on him on that play and blamed the WRs...
***** they stopped lynch on the one yard lines a couple of times, but how much touchdown runs did he have? It would be irrelevant to say lynch would not have scored, one play he runs for 3yd next play he'll run for 30.
What guy couldn't step up his game? Thanks Russell for your example, inspiration and humility. A team forged through adversity and deference is a hard team to beat!
as a charger fan, like you said +Caveit77777 he's a great leader, and if it wasn't for the offensive coordinator , and Russell just would've handed the ball to Lynch then score then game over, I don't like how he took the blame , but because he did he shows great leader and courage , and that's what I really like about him, Russell Wilson is 100% winner and I hope he gets a couple more rings.
The blame is not on you. I hope you didn't mean what you said about that because it is a team sport. As a fan, listening and knowing that next season you guys will continue to play your hearts out and believe you will win in every game, is important than how this season ended. What's next. Can't wait til next season too.
Started supporting the Hawks just before the 2014 NFC championship game, it was them or the 49ers, it was my first game watching the NFL, I didn't regret it! And don't call me a bandwagoner, I support a team for its dedication (the 12th man), not because it's good otherwise everyone would be supporting the patriots (whom I hate dearly)
Russel, just please work on throwing the slant. Throw to the player, behind, low to your receiver. Make sound decisions, and minimize mistakes. The team will continue to decline due to the costs of keeping a good team together. So the team will need you to continue to grow, and make smart plays. Please don't let the city of Seattle be remembered for one play. Execute, execute, execute.
You must be trolling. If not, please do not choose to focus on the 95% that is all we could hope for in a franchise QB at this point in his career. Apply this concept to life and I promise you will be a happier person.
Don MacArthur Hey Don, I would just say that everything in life is judged in context of the situation. Everything is relative. Wilson is a professional, he did not become Russell Wilson by settling for 95%. To be as good as he is, at any endeavor in life, it takes dedication, and not settling for anything less than 100%. 99% of Americans can and will settle for just good enough, but I guarantee you that Wilson knows the mistake he made, and the fact that it was a mental error, not a physical one. One mistake during the regular season doesn't mean as much as one made during the NFC Championship game. Viewed in the context of the situation, on the one yard line of the Super Bowl, his one mistake was monumental. And I know he would agree. As the man stated, he will get better, and I hope that he does, because this kind of thing can derail some folks. As a Seahawks fan I hope that he comes back with a vengeance, practices his ass off, and leads us to a place of forgetting the one error he made. I am sure he relishes such a challenge. Any true warrior would.
***** Well I am glad Russell the Warrior has you at his disposal to guide him through the challenges you seem to be familiar with. Hopefully he takes your advice and finally realizes the proper way of throwing to the slant route. I will note, though, that Russell the Human does exist. Cheers.
Tom Miller Are you actually going to reply with a pic of one of the most hated mugs in Seahawks history as your profile pic. Seahawks fans loath, and I mean LOATH the loss to the refs in Super Bowl 40.
If you watch the replay Lockette, was wide open, Butler just made an out of this world read and recovery, and Lock took for granted the rub worked which it didn't, had no idea Butler was there. Final 4 will be same as 2014 Pack, Hawks, Indy, and Pats.
He was open, you need a bird's eye view from up top, look again, there was lots of Real Estate still between Lock and Butler on the initial release of the ball.
Some of you don' t really know who Russell is but I can tell you if you bad mouth him back in settled U will get serious push back. He is a fine young guy w/out a meen bone in his body, just watch him this next season. GO HAWKS.
He may well be the best quarter back in the future but that will be after Tom Brady retires. One thing you can say for him is that he isn't a big game bust as is a certain quarterback that plays at mile high.
THIS is why I wouldn't have ANY other quarterback in the NFL starting for the Seattle Seahawks. Manning, Brady, Rogers, name 'em. We'll look back in 20 years and say, "This is where the Seahawks dynasty started." Go Hawks!
What can you say, He is just a great leader, and we need him to get back to the SuperBowl. However we need a team and there is only so much money to go around. Its going to be real interesting if this great group of talented players can let there egos go and understand that they can make more money by being a great team and by doing so, earn more money through endorsements rather then through individual compensation via the salary cap. Go Hawks!
"The 405"? How long has he lived here. Jeez, it's "405" or "I-405". Get it right Russell!!! You're not from California man. :-) Now that that's out of the way. This is a great video. Been a fan for many years and will always be a fan. Seattle native and 12th woman for life.
I would L O V E to see Russell Wilson's Wikipedia page from 10 years in the future, especially the "Seattle Seahawks" section. Hopefully it will have a lot more Super Bowl victories listed.
I Like What You Stand For Russell. You’re A Great Human, And So Happy You And CiCi Found Each Other...But What About Those EAGLES!!! BEAT THEM ON THEIR OWN TURF...WE DESERVED IT...AND FINALLY DID IT!!! Many More Blessings To You And Yours!!! #GO EAGLES. #GO SEAHAWKS
Russell, what were you thinking, when you threw the ball? Did you throw the ball at Lockette or Butler? Did you see Lynch where he was standing, that area was wide open? I don't get it.
I believe I can flyyyyyyyyyyyyy I believe I can touch the skyyyYEYEYEYYYYYYYY I think about it every niight and daaaaaaaay. Spread my wings and flyyy awayyyyyyyyy I believe I can soooooooaaaar...
Ok ok to be honest Seahawks are my favorite team until the day I die lets go seahawks my favorite players are Richard Sherman.Russel Wilson. Marshawn lynch
Hey you Russell! Make us a favor: Go and win the Superbowl L, and the next, and the next! You and the Seahawks have everything to win! Just forget that game, but learn about that!
As a seahawks fan I didnt care we lost ppl at school just say hey the seahawks lost i say I don't care we made it twice why not three times as long as we have good fait and great players we can make I just hope go hawks
Russell Wilson why yall didnt listen to me when I told yall Tom Brady was lyar I know when I first looked at him God let me see things like that this is a gift I have from God I also hear from the dead like when I was locked up in jail and I saw all those people killed in that jail house they found the mudder
I love Russell and I love the hawks but this is over the top. It was a tough loss, but it is just a football game. This isn't life or death, this isn't Ebola, this isn't ISIS it is a game. Russell is at the top of his craft, but if the 12's weren't so crazy he probably never does this video. Sure he is accountable for the pass but come on he has made so many amazing plays versus this one pass. He will have plenty of chances to make up for it. Why not blame Okung not holding his block on the first down Marshawn run or Kearse not doing his job or Lockette not getting to the ball. They lost. People need to move on and gain some perspective.
Next time do your homework, you have options, there are check downs, and also audibles, change the play, fuck Carrol, left side of the field wide open, could have faked the pass when you saw Butler and turned other corner. You have a time out, throw it away, if not 100%.
yaaaawn, it was a mock play called by Peter Pan to insult Brady in a way of saying im the new kid on the block, i just slant and won a championship game, he probably fantasized saying in a video after wards but Brady..... whipped him bad, sorry KIDO, BRADY IS THE KING, beautiful wife, loyal, handsome honest man, you on the other hand a bushy face jesus freak with a white washed in bred personality, atleast that is what this lost says about you, but Russel, i love you though man, although i wanted the Pats to win because of Shermans bad rap last year with Brady, i felt the pain when you lost, when your heart sank into your stomach and said Jesus, seriously, you are the best out there and this was just a good read by a rookie., better luck next time but seriously, if you guys can drive down the field that fast why did you not just put point son the board instead of waiting for a ill luck chance? And Mr Lynch, the shy man who is a doer instead of a talker even posed in a nude photo shoot as a beautiful black man so the world can see his prosperity and respect others instead of spread defamation against a man's skin colour, how sad it was to lose for him after this whole year, even threats of fines for not speaking to the media. you guys gonna play against the dallas cowboys next year, if you get to a super bowl again
***** you just b1tch mad sis, i was dead on, Brady KICKED your lil street punk rapping a55es to the moon and you can still feeel his skiny white foot up your rears, RACISTS fools
I'm sure this will be called sour grapes or poor loser, but the reality is Butler committed pass interference on that play. He blew up Lockette, who never touched the ball. Browner also did the same, he was all over Kearse who was also an eligible receiver on the play. The Patriots couldn't win the game fair and square, so the NFL helped them out.
Nice. Except I don't see the need for you to do a mea-culpa video. You were obviously told to throw and not pass the ball. Keep in mind that championships are won not by single rock-star players, but by rock-star teams. Some of the best soccer players come out of the shittiest teams, but then Germany wins.
