China once proposed connecting Eurasia to North America via bridge from Russia to USA which would have made import and export goods be much cheapers, and the reason why it never came into reality was not Russia, but USA. Russia was on board with it and it would have boosted Alaska's and Kamchatka's bundgets making them both not just resource area, but important trade connections. many prices would have deflated in USA because of it, which in general would have cheapened everything for everyone. americans would also be able to export their products outside their country much easier, thus making actual presence on world market, but that's not what you leaders want.
