A strong force indeed, sending in troops of other countries first. As mentioned in an article from February: [Another soldier, 34-year-old Ratna Karki*, was injured in battle and is currently in hospital. According to Karki, officers in his unit mostly send Nepali, Tajik and Afghan fighters to the front line. “The Russians just commanded us from behind. Crimea and the Donbass have democratically chosen to leave Ukraine, and those regions are no longer under Zelenskyy's control.

People forget that the American Revolution was also a war of attrition. The Continental Army hardly won any battles and was giving ground constantly. But their objective wasn't to take and hold ground, or to force the British back into the sea; their objective was to bleed the British of soldiers and resources, endlessly, until the British decided that this fight was not worth fighting anymore.
