My Russian sister to flew in to Istanbul, Turkey for the first time! We recently moved to İstanbul and love traveling through Türkiye and spending time here.
So once we settled in to our apartment in Kadıköy, we decided we had to show the best of Istanbul to my younger sister, Lera, who recently flew in from Russia.
Welcome to İstanbul! The largest city in Europe and one of the most beautiful on Earth. Travel in Turkey can be expensive but we couldn't miss the opportunity to show it to Lera. Is Istanbul the greatest city / country on Earth? Let's find out her honest opinion and first impressions of Türkiye 🇹🇷

And Matt and Julia do it again! Such an "honest" look at Istanbul. That's what I remember from the 4... 5? times we've been to Turkey. Julia's sister's reaction was great. Never got to the Princes Islands, so that was a real treat! And, yes, airalo - is very very good. So long as your phone is compatible with an e-sim. Mine isn't! Getting a new phone next week!!! Matt the way you did the promo was just perfect; personal and honest. Not often I watch ads! There's so much more to explore. Looking forward to more videos from in and around Istanbul and Turkey. Ohhh Kennedy Avenue fooled me too, a nice afternoon walk next to the sea, I thought.... but it never ended, many parts were fenced, it wasn't that easy to cross. I ended up arriving almost at night at my destination.. I also passed through Kinaliada, the only one of the islands that I was able to visit, I was looking for an abandoned cemetery but I was wrong, that one was in Buyukada, it will be left for the next visit to Istanbul... I hope you can return to that city soon to live there as you wish. Love to both

If you visit neighborhoods like Beylerbeyi, Kuzguncuk, Kandilli, Cengelkoy, Kanlica, Beykoz, Anadolukavagi, Anadolufeneri you will see how beautiful the Asian side is. All the best.

Great trip to Istanbul! So great to see your sister Lera again. I noticed on one boat they had an accessible bathroom. Yes, I look for stuff like that and other areas that might be accessible for a wheelchair user. How accessible do you both feel Istanbul might be for someone in a wheelchair? Just a curious thought. Tugay Inanaglu is a youtube vet and very popular with his practice here on youtube. Wonder if you were in his area or to far. Either way I loved your video. Its so much fun seeing your travels through your eyes. Can't wait for next week! Be safe!

Really glad you enjoyed it 😌🙌🏼 All the Public transport is very wheelchair friendly for sure. Maybe some of the cobbled streets are a little difficult but overall I would say (in our non-expert opinion) it’s a very wheelchair friendly city 🥰❤️

Speaking of hilly streets on the European side, you can use Tunnel from Karakoy to Galata / İstiklal Street, you can use Funikuler from Kabataş to Taksim, or you may take the M2 metro from Yenikapi hub station to most of the touristy/shopping areas of the European side incl. Taksim. And yeah, Sirkeci is a much better option for a direct walk to Blue Mosque

The means of transport in Istanbul are great. You can get from place to place very quickly. I would just avoid taking a taxi. 🙂

As a Turk born and raised in Germany who has visited Istanbul many times I enjoyed the slow pace of the video, yet it's a pity you decided to visit Kınalıada instead of the more popular Büyükada which is a better choice for locals as well as for tourists as it has much more to offer. Yes, it's more expensive on Büyükada and some restaurants might offer food which isn't that good but the overall experience is better on Büyükada. You might want to pay a visit to the Big Island the next time.

unfortunately there are many syrians, afghanis and people from other countries. in the past you saw few women with headscarves in istanbul but now it is full. it is all because of the flood of arabs coming to turkey...
