It's likely because modern warfare is so dependent on logistics that it just isn't feasible to have such large armies without completely mobalizing your country's economy for war, which would completely erase any public war support.

They have already they’re just not deployed to the front. Russia has more and Ukraine also does, a lot of Ukrainians troops are guarding the border with Russia and Belarus with no warfare. I’m not sure if these are included in the figures.

The Ukranians cut their logistic lines and destroyed command centers killing many generals. The Russian army run out of ammo, fuel and command so it was forced to completely withdraw and leave many of perfectly working equipment, from tanks to anti-aircraft systems.

They never intended to take kiev they just wanted to unarm the military of Ukraine and how could Russia capture another country that's against the laws

@@LoversIncMusic yes, both Russia and Ukraine had armies of peace time, and Russia invaded Ukraine with peace time army, while Ukraine only started mobilization of reserves one day before the war and general mobilization on first day of war and those Ukrainian mobilizef men turned the tide of the war after one month of fighting, because Russians became outnumbered and were unable to move further

For the past 200 years, Russia has always relied on Zerg tactics. Overwhelm the enemy with sheer numbers. They BADLY underestimated the Ukrainians, their morale, and their sense of nationalism. All they have to do is hold out. Only time will tell.

Whoever in the right mind should not even wait for something like this to happened but hope for the war to be over.

Their first offensive was abysmal - or the offensive from the north was, at least. Soldiers were sent in without being briefed or even told they were going to war. The lack of preparation meant they failed to take Hostomel airport, which was a key objective and would have given Russia a huge advantage. Meanwhile, tanks didn't even have enough fuel, and were often wandering about alone without infantry support which made them easy pickings for javelins. If they didn't get blown up, they ran out of fuel. Everyone was bricking it when news got round about the 60km convoy headed for Kyiv but in the end it never even made it there because Russia's logistics were so pathetic. Oh, and let's not even get into Russian soldiers revealing their locations by posting selfies online.

we recaptured Soledar from Ukraine and are gradually encircling Artemovsk (Bakhmut) there is also a chance of a very large Russian offensive in February

Russia still has advantage in amount of artillery and tanks. Russian losses are huge, so huge that Ukraine doesn't even need to inflate them. We don't however know how many were mobilized(there are different estimates, from 300k to 500k). Russia also uses inmates in Vagner, and russia already kinda scraped the barrel in donetsk and luhansk republics). Both sides may attempt to do offencives, Kiev or Zaporojye in case of Russia, and advance to Azov sea in case of Ukraine. Russian equipment and manpower(especially manpower) won't end for the next few years. Ukraine also has capacity to mobilize much more. The outcome depends on how much equipment and ammo will west give to Ukraine. With sufficient help Ukraine will win, but amount of lives lost on both sides would be enormous(but on russian side it'll be absolutely horrific)

@@48Andrey18 recently we found out(from russia war correspondent Rybar') that from the beginning of war to the beginning mobilization in Russia(21 september) only VDV(russian airborne forces) losses were 40-50% out of its total amount. VDV total numbers are 45000, therefore their losses were about 20k(10k dead and 10k disabled). Total russian losses according to Ukraine were about 60k(including those mobilized in donetsk and luhansk), which is completely believeable, considering VDV were just a small part of russian forces.
