There is a similar method from the Engineering Students at Tokyo University. And the method seems to have developed at the same time this Russian film was taken. I was fortunate to have a sensei, who is now a 6th or 7th Dan who trained us in this method. Unfortunately I couldn't continue to study under him due to a knee injury. What the Tokyo students did was study every single Judo technique and apply Engineering principles to the whole Judo repertoire. The result was the most elegant and beautiful Judo I have ever witnessed. I have seen dozens and dozens of Tai Otoshis here on You Tube and in real life and none compare to the Tai Otoshi from the Tokyo school. If you notice, ALL 100% of Tai Otoshis Tori bends forward at the waist. Even Mifune, all the greats in Judo do this. The Tokyo school Tai Otoshi is done with minimum bending, and twisting of the head sideways in the direction of the throw. What Uke experiences is a true drop. Similary with kusuchi, tai sabaki. The Kouchi gari and Kosoto gake are so unique and perfect I don't teach it to anyone. Perhaps Tsunoda come close. The Tomoe Nage foot placement from this school is also different and unique.
