I listened to this as I sat here reading Vladimir Basenkov's A Path to the Hidden Rus, which is a book about the Edinovertsy in modern Russia. It was a perfect soundtrack for that book. Thanks for sharing it.
@@VaughnRondo I am in the US, but nowhere near PA or AK. Those are the only two states with canonical Edinovertsy/Old Believers in communion with the Orthodox Church.
These aren’t sung in Church. They’re spirituals typically sung during work or hanging out. It’s more village life. So it’s not entirely fair to compare most of these to Post Liturgical reform Chants.
O Lord Jesus Christ, deliver me from the besetting presence of the demons. Yea, my Lord and Creator, Who desirest not the death of a sinner, but rather that he be converted and live, grant conversion also to me, wretched and unworthy; rescue me from the mouth of the pernicious serpent who is yawning to devour me and take me down to hades alive. Yea, my Lord, my Comfort, Who for my miserable sake wast clothed in corruptible flesh, draw me out of misery, and grant comfort to my miserable soul. Implant in my heart the desire to fulfil Thy commandments, and to forsake evil deeds, and to obtain Thy blessings; for in Thee, O Lord, have I hoped, save me O merciful Lord I pray. Amen.

Hi there anyone know the meaning behind the name Konstantin? I don't believe the random theories on the internet. I feel like I would get more real facts from here! Thank you.
My opinion only all Christian person's worldwide should say this once on awaking and so before all classes in any and all USA grade schools 1 to 8 and high schools 9 to 12
Do not forget though. Not only woman have a dress code. They should dress as Old Believer women do but same goes for men. No shorts, no shirts, all long sleeve. Short hair without anything in it, no shaving or trimming the beard. This is how it has to be for both women and men as we are made in the image of God and God commanded us this.
How is it sounds more Ukrainian if they sing in Russian?😅 I bet they’re lipovane, so it’s their Romanian accent, that’s why their Russian sounds quite different.
You are wrong, all of you. This is Choir of Russian Pomor Old Believers community of Veliky Novgorod. Хор старообрядческой поморской общины Великого Новгорода, in Russian. Novgorod Region of Russia. The name of this cd is Ой вы, братья мои, сестры. Released on 2016.
How one dresses means nothing to our heavenly father. Only our honest faith in his love and that he gives us all that we need. Forever. Don't place too much emphasis on costumes please. My brothers and sisters
That's not true. The apostle Paul spoke authoritatively when he gave specific commandments on how Christians should dress. If the Lord didn't care then he wouldn't have enlightened his apostle to say those words.
@@Ioannikios174 According to what I have read, the self proclaimed apostle Paul was born approximately sixty years after Christ's crucifixion. He apparently had visions. Now in this day and age written history is how we get most of our info of the past. I wasn't there. I really can't be sure. Faith is believing without having proof. The Bible is a history book, and much more. Bible historians say that Paul wasn't alive when Jesus walked on this world. Separately, why would Jesus and our heavenly father look down upon a good person who lives a good Christian life just because they don't wear any particular uniform? The first four books of the new testament specifically mention that we shouldn't make public displays of our faith.
@Empire of Truto Okay. Let's examine the statement: "New" believer. What is new? Has man foundationally changed in that his nature is "new" & no longer needs redemption through Christ? Or, has the essence of Christ changed in that he no longer offers redemption? There is no "new" belief. Either it was true then and now & eternally, or not true. Think, bruh!
@@e1ay3dme12 "Old believers" is just English name for those who did not accept reforms of Russian orthodox church in 1666. They are also called "Old Orthodix believers" (drevlepravoslavnie)
Caiaphas had a long beard and tassels. Verily they have their rewards. The children of the Reformation have brought the church to the people. This harkens back to a time that had passed; pious and beautiful but dead. Behold I make all things new.
Dead? Orthodoxy is a living faith. Orthodoxy does not fit in to the dichotomies of the West's so called Reformation. Leave your protestantism behind, and come experience God. Come and see.
The ancient church belonged to the people. It was a living church, not a 're' formed memorial to Christ and Christendom. The church cannot be 're' formed. It is given to us by Christ through His apostles and we preserve it. Come home to the Orthodox.
Kenneth, I am certain you do not feel this way, but your words are blasphemy. The Orthodox faith is the very Church of Pentecost, of which Christ himself said, "... and the gates of Hades will never prevail against it." Come and see. I invite you to see the glorious faith that never needed a "re-formation," as Christ promised.
Caiaphus having a beard and tassels somehow makes them passe? Kosher law is no longer in force, but under your logic eating something kosher for the sole reason of enjoying the taste is heretical. Crap like your statement is precisely why I ditched sola scriptura/Protestant ideology and became a Christian instead.
