The expression "My hips don't lie" comes from Shakira. She is one of those people who feel the music and move to its rhythm, who want to dance when they like something. When she's creating her songs with her team, if she doesn't like something, she's going to want to correct it, she's a perfectionist. She will make corrections until she likes her. She was basically arguing with someone on her team and she said, do you see my hips moving? The song is not ready. My hips do not lie. Said in my words, what she told in an interview.

She is from Colombia, not Spain, she is most famous as a dancer, but "Hip dont lie" caused her to blow up esp cause she featuured an already crazy famous Hip Hop artist called Wyclef Jean from the Refugee Camp group to feature in her song/video and because of HIS involvemernt coupled with her looks and moves the song exploded

Shakira is one of my favs.....she writes the songs and sings them in English or Spanish....i'm always impressed when someone writes coherently in a second language......your assignment is to learn and perform her patented hip movement......many have tried no one has mastered it

She's from Barranquilla, Columbia. She is Half Columbian and Lebanese and she has been taught how to bellydance since she was a child. Shakira makes music in various genres which makes her one of the most versatile artists the 2000s ever seen.

Colombian is like Canadian, not a specific ethnicity but more of a mosaic of different peoples. Shakira is Spanish and Lebanese but culturally and technically a Colombian.

Shakira is Colombian but her Father is/was from Lebanon and her mother is A native Colombian and Shakira means Grateful and thankful in Arabic and quite frankly its ironic for that is how many of us feel a bout such god given gift that she is.

Florida, you are forced to understand Spanish to some degree due to the massive population of Spanish speakers down here. You take Spanish in high school and you just automatically know something about the language. You kinda just have this notion that Spanish is just there and you just handle it the best you can
