I am from Serbia and I will visit Russia that is Moscow soon after pandemic. I will take this train from Moscow to St. Petersburg to visit St Peterburg too. Privet iz Serbii russsian brothers and sisters :)
That train was amazing and so fast, like a Japanese Bullet train. I can’t believe it only took 4 hours to go from Moscow to St. Petersburg on it. I’m looking forward to more of your Russian travel videos Mr. Tall, keep them coming. 👍
Good video. The Sapsan train is built by Siemens, it' s almost same like the German ICE, but the seats are better with personal TV and the service seems to be much better than in Germany
@@samtrak1204 Just saw your question. The train is very good but service in Germany is pretty normal I would say. In First Class you get your food and drinks served at the seat, but it's not included. Enjoy your trainride!
Travelled the Sapsam and the red arrow between Moscow and st, Pete’s, plus I have stayed in the A1 hotel, Saint Petersburg is my favorite city to visit, I look forward to going back this summer, hopefully
2005 traveling from Moskva to Saint Peterburg, 800 km, 8Hr, sleeping couch, with light breakfast and drink, ticket only $65 usd, from midnight to 8am.This is not bullet Train but very good for night and sleep travel.
Hercule Poirot might have preferred the Grand Express where there is a compartment with a private shower and toiletru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eYM2T0lUv38.html
Interesting stuff. Thanks. Just went to St. Petersburg to watch Euro2020 but after this Covid19 situation Moscow would be interesting city to visit also.
The train is a German Siemens BR 403. It has a maximum speed of 330km/h. The damage to the window comes from people from the province. Since the route is not secured enough in rural areas, sometimes animals and even people run in front of the train. Therefore, the train in the regions bears the nickname "white dead".
the damage to the windows actually come from stones from the ballasted track that fly up and hit the windows. They plan to make it unbalasted tracks. Dont talk Bull if you dont know the facts.
Thank you for filming in first class. I wonder if there is a big difference between first class and business class...First class of course, looks very comfortable and has fewer people so it must be quite quiet...
@@TallTravels The story is: the Russian word "vokzal" comes from the abbreviated "vocal hall", that is, a place where the 1st class travelers could listen to the music before a long journey. Musical instruments were installed in the vocal halls - pianos, grand pianos and others, depending of the status of station, and the railway managers hired the musicians to delight the ears of travelers.
Sapsan = Peregrine falcon in Russian. It is basically the Siemens Velaro consist (ICE 3rd gen) modified for 1520mm (Russian gauge) and for harsh winter conditions (to withstand -50°C and heavy snow).
I have heard that Russia has some great value places to retire to if a retiree only has a yearly income of €15000 ! I also read on line that Gas and Electricity in Russia is less than half the price it is in the UK ! Thanks for sharing ……..
I don't like your seat next to the misplaced storage rack that blocks the opposite side view. Who wants to look at unsightly jacket rack that cramps your space? Are the lights dimmed after dark?
Of course you could by tickets online, 120 days in advance on the Russian Railways website but you will have to register. The starter price for second class carriage is about 2300 RUB and and it grows as the day of the departure approaches. (the author paid 11000 (!) that is incredibly expansive for locals.) I use Sapsan regularly 5-6 times per year but I haven't ever paid more than 3500 rub (50$ today) because I always plan my trips in advance ))
Love to travel around Russia 🇷🇺 but there is so many things going against me. 1: No Russian Language, 2: South Asian appearance, 3: Don’t Drink, 4: Required Halal food!
Well 1. English should work, in big cities for sure. 2. Russia is multinational country so you won’t surprise anyone with South Asian appearance:) 3. I am Russian and I don’t drink either. It’s not a deal breaker, actually no one in my family drinks. 4. Halal food might be an issue but I’m sure it’s possible to figure it out!:)
No, definitely not in Europe. After you enter EU nobody ever will ask you for ID unless you are checking into hotel or boarding a plain. Only in Russia you have to give passport No. to get access to Wi-Fi or buy a train ticket.
@@gancarzpl Well I have limited experience in EU with regard to trains, but in Ukraine you need to show your passport these days. But I think that's more to do with the fact that resellers used to buy Ukrainian tickets in bulk.
@@TallTravels After I posted comment I realize that forgot about that neck of the woods. Ukraine, especially Belarus, Moldavia, Transnistria have very strict security, but non of them are in EU.
@@gancarzpl Concerning WiFi: I`m Russian and I never have to consider my Pass No for WiFi connection on all Russian area. For the travel or hotel accommodation, yes I must to apply your passport, but never for web or something like that :)
@@enjoyingmyvodka1013 Hmm strange. Google 'Russian Trains" and find this site. Watch out though, there are other similar sites which charge more money.
I will definitely visit Russia soon, a very impressive country with its architecture and other interesting sights. Mainly because of Germany's proximity to Russia, historically brothers and sisters.
You have to enter you passport No. to get connected to Wi-Fi ??? Are they afraid that somebody on the side of the train tracts is waiting to get quick access to it, with the train moving 199km/h? LMHO, only in Russia.
Yeah, also you have to get an SMS to access most public WiFi in Russia, and of course your Russian number is registered with your passport. There are other countries with a similar regime;Turkey, Belarus, Thailand off the tope of my head. To buy a sim in Poland these days you also need to show your passport. Probably many other EU countries too
@@TallTravels Had no idea that you have to show your passport to buy sims card in Poland. www.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/9ziqfi/european_countries_requiring_registration_of/
@@помниНеВсеТоСолнышкоЧтоВстает Using your passport No. as a cod to access train Wi-Fi is nothing ells as very strict surveillance of everything what you do and say during your stay in Russia. Every passenger on that train got its own cod to access Wi-fi, it is quite complicated system.
за доп деньги его застраховали бы на два миллиона рублей.но посмотрела что дебил и послала.он запомнил номер билета .сколько то тысяч .но не посмотрел номер вагона.нууу тууупые.
