Transport Fever Trams are the luxury upgrade to your more pedestrian road transport services. This one is so luxury it doesn't even use doors. Doors are for the weak. This is a gameplay series from Transport Fever 2. I'm playing it, you're watching it, we're all having a lovely time.

Ahhh the fantastic new TF2 game and you're already fully engrossed in producing an excellent series for us loyal troops. I am looking forward to freezing time so I can enjoy vehicles before the era ends. You can't always simulate RL because the specifics of RL aren't always fun in a game. Freezing time was a brilliant move by UG and please thank Thom and his fellow devs next time you get the chance.

My gripe with these type of games was always time management. Especially when you try to optimize. For example, I want to send 1 line of 3 buses each hour around the city in 20 minutes interval. That's a typical standard for a medium-sized city (around 50-100k population). You can't do that because the times move much faster and 20 IRL minutes is like 2 in-game years. If you try to convert the IRL time into the in-game time you end up with a backlog of vehicles that also became obsolete. There is also a problem with cargo/passenger demand. You pick up 8 people and by the time you send the second vehicle, there's already 50 waiting, because your vehicle is moving 8km/h, but it will take 3 days in in-game time to get from point A to point B. This leads to an endless fleet of buses that not only block the road but doesn't looks good, nor realistic.

In game time vs RL time has been a neusance ever since it took 1 hour for a Sim to stop complaining about getting out of bed and then a further 45 minutes to eat a bowl of cereal.

Gidday Colonel. Did you know that you no longer have to destroy roads if you don't want the AI to build there. One of the layers, (road or street layer??) you'll see locks on the roads. By clicking on these locks will prevent the AI from building on that road, therefore no bulldozing. I'm going to love this game and this series.

In TF1, I always felt like, especially in the steam era, by the time I finished setting up a route, a locomotive would come out that was better in every single way, and this was WITH the 1/4 time mod! The whole freeze date but not game thing was brilliant and good on them.

I have mixed feelings regarding the towns only requiring two types of cargo, although the idea of all commercial buildings requiring an equal amount of the three commercial goods didn't necessarily make a lot of sense either. It would have been more interesting if specific buildings had specific needs, independent of the other buildings in the town. A restaurant or grocery store would demand Food, a hardware store would require Tools, a Factory would require Machines, a Gas Station would require fuel, etc. If a town didn't have a restaurant or grocery store, there wouldn't be demand for Food. You could have towns with a high demand for Food, while a low demand for Goods, etc.

For new players i would highly recommend using the M and N keys to change train track elevation while building in smaller segments, that way you can bring down costs to 1/5th the normal estimate, since it will follow the terrain more up and down. For gentle hills this isnt a problem for the trains, and will save you lots of money in the early game. Its not really worth 500k extra just to avoid some 10% slopes here and there, initially.

When talking about food deliveries we got the phrase 'As does Eerie' so presumably 'Tes goes Caprica' and 'Sains buries Ankmorpork' :)

Watching you make mistakes makes me feel better about mine, but I always learn something new with you. I'd love to see real railway workings in this game. Steam engines changing ends, more real freight working like an engine bringing grain, then decoupling and coupling up to a train of box cars to take to the factory etc etc. That kind of thing. Turntables, engine sheds, marshalling yards, shunters. Would be so cool.

Maybe you should build a double track from MCO to food production and add another train to that line. This will increase production at proccesing plant. Also make sure the demand is high enough for the proccesing plant and you have good coverage. The circles off dropoff should overlap eachother by 50 percent.

Hi Colonel, I have a few of suggestions for you! I hope you see this and my ideas are probably terrible but still I don't care! 1. instead of using two trains you should use one decreasing maintenance costs and you should have the train going through both factories?, farms? I don't know. 2.you should do a series in future where you have unlimited money, I don't know if you would like it but I watched someone do it and ive forgotten their name, this allows you to actually explore all of the options and test wether things are actually better balanced, (example: a cart that is faster but holds less people vs a slower one that carries more people) 3.You should rename random things about something that happened in the episode, so when you get to them you can remember those good memories 4.keep doing what you are doing!! you might not get as many viewers as you would like but most of your viewers (including me) really enjoy your videos, you aren't too loud and exited, you take your time doing things, even though you may forget things sometimes and grind some peoples gears when you do something wrong and they are screaming at their screen your content Is still the best for these types of games in my opinion. keep doing your stuff and I enjoy watching your following videos!

Part of the problem with #1 is that trains can only pull up to a certain weight effectively, and if you pull too much the train slows down and starts losing money. So to ship a fair amount of cargo, you'll eventually need multiple trains. You could make the trains duplicates and put them on the same line… but then you need double track or at least smart switching areas, at the risk of trains having to wait for each other. What the colonel's done here is created 2 trains both pulling a moderate load, and put them on separate tracks so that they don't conflict. He's also created 2 independent variables for balancing the Grain-to-Food ratios- so he can add cars or upgrade engines independently to keep the production flowing optimally. It's not the cleanest setup in the world, but it is a very intelligent once and offers flexibility into the future. Basically, he has created a real-world supply chain solution here - an adjustable and diversified one - like the ones in use by every major goods producer or retailer near you. He did previously work in gamedev, after all.

@@slippydouglas yea i know what you are saying and you are correct, I suggested that because it is early game and factories/farms don't produce much straight away, also I thing the original factory should be for the 5carriage train, I forgot what the city is called and the newer farm for the other factory, I know its confusing its just hard to explain :)

Seeing the tram track option on road cargo stations (21:38) made me think - can trams now take freight? In the early 20th century there used to be a tram that took freight (fruit from orchards) and passengers, that passed just a stone's throw from where I live now. Interesting idea if they've implemented this type of thing...

American locomotive with European cars on one train and on the other of the European locomotive with American cars. I know cornel well enough to know it’s not intentional. But it doesn’t make it bother me less. Also “russian tram” clearly says it’s Belgian

You might have put the wrong cars on the second food train, it looks like it was a hopper car. It had the iron or metal symbol for the cargo.

In TpF1 I successfully make train lines competing with intercity bus lines, because there are cheap customers and speed customers. In TpF2 is the same? There are 2 types of customers?

I see a problem with your route.. Food, like the rest of the goods, is a 2:1 ratio- so you would ideally carry 2x the number of cars to deliver grain as you do returning with food.

@@JCrook1028 ahhh the usual "let modders fix it" when in TPF1 the requests were so many, that urban games made an official curved station mod. then you'd kind of expect curved stations to be in their next game, you know since it was such a much requested feature.
