Regarding shops, kindergartens, schools and medical clinics, in many cities there are some requirements that regulate the number of shops, schools, kindergartens and clinics in a local area and when a new district is being developed, they either invest money into building those from the city budget or choose a developer who is ready to build social infrastructure in addition to appartment blocks. The result of this policy is that you get a scool or a clinic in a 5-15 minute walking distance from anywhere you live in a city.

We have central heating in all apartments throughout the country in any garden. And heating is usually built into the floor, because there are all communications for connection and you don’t have to do it yourself separately and connect to the central heating through the housing and communal services. We regulate all payment for housing payment for communal services payment for the Internet TV housing and communal services taxes fines for the services of doctors payment for kindergarten schools, etc. through the phone and the All-Russian public services application and all services are connected to them in any region now and in principle in most of the country the same way. At home, such prices are such and shops in the house immediately and delivery. Of course, there are regions where there are a lot of problems so far and the standard of living is weaker, but they are being solved very quickly and efficiently, at least everyone has taken up this. And it is palpable in life as it was before and now. In Europe, I guess they don't use a central heating system, as I heard, I don't know if it's true

@@maxvanlame there is still central heating here in Bulgaria, Sofia, but more and more people and opting out of it every year, because of the energy prices. Me too. I'm entirely on electricity for heating and even to heat water. Much cheaper (for the moment). However, electricity prices here are government regulated, so they're not real prices, compared to open market price. Because of European Union regulations, all customers must transition to the free market energy prices and this must happen in the next 2-3 years tops. Effectively, this means household electricity prices will go about triple (+300%) the current price.

Industrial style elevators have the main anti-vandal function. If in Australia you need an apartment with a master bedroom, a children's room and a living room, then in Russian classification this is a 3-room apartment. 2 or 3-room apartments are very common. Less often there are 4-room apartments. Apartments are also evaluated in relation to the total area to the living area, where the area of the corridor, toilet and kitchen is excluded. It is also important to have a large kitchen, more than 6 square meters, because. these kitchens are considered small. Modern construction standards allow you to find any studio apartment, and make any layout. It takes into account the total area of 80-100-120 square meters.

@@RayQ101 I am aware that I would not be making the same salary in Russia that I do in the United States, but I'm sorry my comment offended you with my stupidity. I didn't take the time to calculate conversion rates and average incomes, but when I just now did a quick comparison, it looks like Russians earning the median income spend about 1/3 of their income on housing, as do Americans earning the median income. One must also factor in, however, how much we do NOT get for our taxes that they do--free health care, heavily subsidized higher education, etc. Those things all reduce our salaries in a way that isn't normally recognized when crunching numbers like that. Not saying I'd want to live in Russia, but there are a lot of factors here and perhaps if you'd like to enlighten me on the more detailed mathematical nuances of such topics, please feel free.

The apartment in your other video is around the same price I pay here in California, US for a one-bedroom apartment(built in the 1960s). The only thing it is furnished with are appliances. Except washing machines/dryers are downstairs in a separate room for several quarters to use each. I like that the Russian apartments have their own washing machines. I think the smaller apartment in this video is ok(especially for the price) but I would be leary to use a sofa bed that others have used and slept on. The washers in each apartment and stores right in the apartment building are very handy especially if one doesn't have a car(like I don't).

Having lived in russian apartments for a while, it depends quite a bit on the construction. You obviosly will hear some stuff - that's just how it is, but depending on how cheap the developer got, you could hear your neighbor sneezing. Edit: the one in the video looks like a bit of higher-class one, so I don't feel it'd be a problem.
@lake258
@lake258 Год назад
Depends on the person's lifestyle. I own an 36 meter apartment (now more like under 35 after putting inner walls in place for the makeover), and can't say I desperately need more meters. I mean, I'd made some use of more room, but even as it is, it has everything an apartment should have without squeezing anything. The apartment in the video is not terrible, but still it's rather badly made. Probably the owners took it as it is from the developer and put some cheap makeover to make it liveable. Here in Russia developers usually sell it in a state of bare concrete, so you do whatever you want with it. However, they also usually build some inner walls, at least for the bathroom, and it's always terrible because it's made as cheap as possible and only interferes with any of yor plans for the apartment. So as a rule people break the inner walls and build it anew, but to the exact measures they need. For my apartment for example I've had the bathroom walls redone just to gain 10 centimeters of space inside it, basically. But that was the difference for making things nicely. So, returning to the video, by the looks of it the owners just took it all from the developer without major changes. Apartments in and around Moscow have rather insane prices and seeing a cheap ~5000 roubles toilet in an like 10-20 millions worth apartment means something. Like, you have a few millions for the apartment and at least 1-2 millions for the makeover, but can't afford and embedded toilet installation like Geberit or something? Well, only if you never intended to live in the place yourself.

I think it is a fabulous unit. Even with extra costs for some additional furnishings, monthly utilities, and (if it is allowed) some repainting of the rooms, it is still an unbelievable bargain compared to the prices I am used to, and I would snap it up with no qualms. Are rentals usually based on year long, renewable leases in Russia, and are apartments like this difficult to come by? I also wonder if there are any kind of rent controls in large buildings like this one? Its few shortcomings, like the tiny kitchen sink, and the rather bright kitchen cupboards (looks like 2 different colours but that might be a trick of the light) could easily be worked with, and in suite laundry is very rare in rental buildings here, so would be a real treat. Would be nice to have a little balcony but almost none of the new builds in Toronto have even a Juliet option despite renting for $2500 - $4000./month easily. Any chance you could convert metric into Imperial measurements for the lazy and math challenged amongst us when providing area measurements? If not, I can Google the calculation into square feet. I love apt and home tours, and you are obviously gifted in presenting an efficient overview of both building and unit in a clear and concise style without unnecessary detail. Don't know how long you have been out there, but I'm delighted to have now discovered your channel, and yes... please continue to make this style of video whenever opportunities present themselves.

Really enjoyed these personal type information of life in Russia. The decor would be hard to get used to but I really love the on sight shops. I feel like it would create a since of community. It may be like that in bigger America cities where things are within walking distance but I live out in the country and people come from all around to shop so you don't really interact when you're out shopping. It feels lonely because it's just a mass of people and plus you don't get to know the people who live near you because we're all going into town to join the mass

Your videos were recommended in my feed, and I'm so interested in travel and what it costs to live in different countries or even different areas of the same country. Are apartments that are further out from Moscow or St. Petersburg cheaper and not as nice and/or furnished? I love that everything is close. It would be very similar to living in NYC or another large city in America. You really are so very pleasant, so I look forward to catching up on your videos online, and I have subscribed and smashed that notification bell. I also liked the video right away. The first apartment you showed in Russia, despite having a bit of an antiquated style, was extremely nice for the price. I live on the Southern East Coast, so our prices are cheaper than NYC, of course, for instance, and we still pay $1100 to $1200 per month for an apartment, and there is not nearly the room in most of them as compared to the apartments you've shown there in Russia. The $1100 to $1200 here per month is for a 1-bedroom apartment only. A 2-bedroom apartment that is in a safe area may cost more. You're quite soothing to listen to, and I've really enjoyed the two videos I've watched thus far. I will be certain like each one and make a comment to hopefully help your channel. It would be nice to know what the cost is of some of the salons for nail services, a haircut vs coloring, etc. I do not speak Russian, so I imagine I might have a very, very difficult time speaking to the shop employees and, perhaps, reading the instructions as to where and when to take your rubbage down, etc. I'd love to hear some prices of things; however, I understand the difficulty of filming in that environment. Thanks so very much! I look forward to wherever you go next! Cheers, my friend, from North Carolina, US.

Enjoy the apartment tour videos! I liked the other apartment SO much more. One thing I didn't care for in this one is the kitchen was completely separate from the living area, sort of like the houses here in the U.S. back in the 50-60s.. I would rather have a smaller, studio apartment: literally one room apartment where the kitchen, bedroom and living area are all in one room (with a small bathroom). But the price is sensational! The completely separate living & kitchen space is a problem for me because I like to fix dinner while I watch TV in the evenings, but everything else rocks! Love the big windows. Having a salon and mini market downstairs would be heaven.

I am a Muscovite and a Russian allowed myself to write you an answer to your wish.We usually have 2-3 TVs and hanging another TV in the kitchen is not a problem. We do this when the kitchen is separated from the rooms, but now we have many apartments where the kitchen and living room are not separated. Such apartments are called STUDIO apartments and they are also very affordable for people with average incomes. We have such houses not only in Moscow, but also throughout Russia and in its various regions.

And the ambiance if walking to the little shop's in a row for some reason feel so festive. Great video.. I would be trying to negotiate w the owner to paint that green though. Yellow is such a happy color, but that green is just too much. Lastly,I would try to make the entryway a 'tv room' or a place to get together w friends when there weren't tooany between the kitchen and that area, it would leave the. Both apartment tours were very interesting. I get the impression that one and two room flats are typical. Are there also 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom flats for families?? Would it be possible to show some?? From this and other apartment tours I've seen, I have the impression Russian rooms are typically long, narrow and quite small. Since much of the year is cold, I would imagine families spend a lot of time indoors, which must be difficult. Thank you for the rental prices in various currencies, but it would be interesting to know how this corresponds to an average salary. Additionally, have rents been affected by the current economic situation?? If so, how?? In short, this is a large topic which could be expanded upon.

I think it is hard to lease so big 1 room flat in Aprelevka. Only 1 or 2 people can live there, while small 2 room flat can attract family of 3 or 4 people, and it's rather far from work to pay these money. Single person choose cheaper or closer to work flat.

That hospital green again ! They love painting walls in green. Maybe it’s that clean feeling ? I think it’s a bit amiss to have the living room in white. Should have kept with the yellow as in the kitchen.

The guy in the pain shop must have has some specials running that week. Also, the kitchen guy was happy to sell the green cabinets also.

It's just that someone likes it like this. Russia is a free country, everyone decorates his apartment as he likes. Green, yellow, dot or flower, etc
