Yes, this SPAR store looks like a Harrods version. In UK Spar stores look more like dirty petrol station corner shop. No lavish selections of sushi trays, deli or anything else really. Just a few basic essentials on broken dirty shelves. That's UK's version of Spar.

I had never heard of these stores. I went to check out their website. Nice site too. At Whole Foods we can buy fresh cooked foods from a cafe and eat lunch right there. They carry a nice selection of fall and winter fruits that are popular in Russia, so we go there quite often.

and in holland there are very few spars left ...albert-heyn ...is the place to go ...its a supermarket and a delicatesse shop ...the quality of products is incredible ... here in budapest and hungary there is a spar in every town ...

SPAR was one of those western brands that had been slow to announce any divestments or scaling back of its operations in Russia, prompting Ukrainian government officials to call for international boycott of the company. Russell's video shows that the brand still has not bent to pressure to exit Russia. This nice-looking Moscow supermarket could actually be owned by a Russian though. Like McDonald's, SPAR is a multinational franchise that provides branding, supplies and support services to independently owned and operated food retail store. Russia had been a key market for SPAR since the company started operating there. Sanctions and other stuff aside, I am located in California, U.S.A, and this Moscow supermarket is nicer than any of the supermarkets I had seen. I would love to have a supermarket like it in the region where I live. Great content. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your work on this video. We have eight Eurospar stores in Kazan (Tatarstan. Russia.) One of the shops is visible from my window. This is my neighborhood store. Very good store. Operates on a franchise system. Main office for Russia in Nizhny Novgorod (Russia) Today, 200 supermarkets are open in 12 regions of Russia.

As a Canadian I can say the $10 for that Canadian maple syrup is not bad. It's labelled as Grade A, the darker the maple syrup, the better the quality (boiled for longer, hence making the maple syrup more concentrated and darker). I buy the cheapest I can buy at Costco, 1 liter bottle for I believe $16 Canadian dollars (hard to keep up with the price increase over the last couple of years as many groceries are approaching twice the price of two years ago...). Well, that was eye-opening. This is a gorgeous, huge supermarket, much larger and with more variety than the typical American supermarket. We do have a few extensive stores like this, but they're not your average neighborhood grocery. I follow RU-vidrs who go grocery shopping in Germany, France, and Japan, and it's all so interesting to me. I love seeing the variety of international products. I'm shocked that you say Australia has little choice in their markets compared to this. In the Soviet Union days, there was a commercial in the US emphasizing the lack of choice and bleak atmosphere of Russian groceries. Certainly this video would shock most Americans. (The amount of alcohol, though...wow! That is A LOT.)

Spar is a known brand of shops in the UK, but if you actually saw a UK SPAR store you'd be terrified. It's a really pale caricature compared to what we see there in Russia. Even though it is the same company that operates these stores they simply know that UK is some kind of sub-prime market where only cheap and nasty products can be sold. None of these lavish displays of sushi trays or deli or fresh bakeries can be found in UK version of SPAR. It's like we have two different worlds. Russian SPAR of luxury, freshness and abundance and a very trashy version of the same SPAR. What a shock.

Add on the many others who raise funds and work behind the scenes to help the effort and quite high numbers. Last year a N. American military failed to meet its 70,000 enlistment goal. This year they dropped the goal to 50,000. This tells you much about how citizens are reacting and supporting. Please consider this and have a nice day.

I am from Serbia. We are one of the few countries that did NOT put sanctions on Russia, and many Russians have come here. Air Serbia still has flights to and from Russia, and only a few other European airlines still do. Glad to see our Russian Orthodox brothers are doing well, and have wonderful supermarkets like this one - much better than some Western ones that I have seen. According to Western propaganda, Russians are starving and have nothing to eat. Obviously that is not the case, as we see from this first-hand report.

7:48 Both Germany and Belgium have the highest taxes in the world! Spar/Eurospar also used to exist in Germany, but the stores were taken over by the German Edeka in 2005. Germany is an extremely competitive place for grocery stores and department store chains. Walmart failed badly in Germany with very high losses!

I often watched your videos. Everything in the shops looks exactly the same as in my hometown in Helsinki. However, you have 2 things much better, you don't have grannies slowing down in the aisles of stores (do grannies have their own shopping time?) and you have vodka in the grocery store. 😂

As a resident of the westernmost point of Russia. We are located between Lithuania and Poland. And we have this store (spar) on every street in our city. We have even more choice of products.

браузер chromium и все кто на его основе имеют встроенный переводчик.и там есть и словацкий и ческий.и субтитры и комментарии отличный перевод.я этим пользуюсь-ибо не владею английским.и вам рекомендую.

Интересно, что Spar в центре Рима настолько маленький, что по выбору товаров может сравнится с небольшим частным магазином продуктов на первом этаже современных многоэтажек России. Конечно понятно, что им приходится ютиться в исторической застройке центра города, но зачем в такой тесноте открыли маркет Eurosport напротив Ватикана, вообще не понятно! Там выбор 3 майки, 2 плавок! 😂🤣🥳

no mate, they are actually just avoiding sanctions the same way other chains do. There are other chains in Russia with the same or even bigger presence of foreign products

This looks like a souped up Shop Rite. I love going to Shop Rite its a grocery chain here in the NY NJ area and the one I go to in NJ is really nice with lots of prepared food options. I've also never heard of Billy Bong but then again I don't drink alcohol.
