This was an office on a mayor who destroyed all real farmer markets in Moscow to please his developer friend. Just three years ago, every neighborhood had a real farmers' market where you could buy high quality products directly from farmers at a good price. Now in Moscow you can only buy overpriced plastic shit from large retailers like x5 retail. It's funny that x5 organized this event, haha. Of course, you can go out of the city for shopping, but it will take the whole day, not less.

Ой, а Собянин то и сам не скрывает свою нелюбовь к рынкам и любовь к баблу. Заявил однажды, летая на вертолете: "Мы ликвидируем большую часть торговых рынков в Москве", такие дела. Oh, Russell... you make me SO happy. We left the USSR - Birobidzhan - when I was young, so I had no say in the matter... My heart remains in Russia (and I'm not even Russian). I had to laugh when you asked if anyone has tried Kvass. I make my own every month, and have a batch brewing right now! It's becoming very popular here in the US - some Yankee-Yankees I know shocked me when they said they've started making their own. As for horsemeat... yes... my father's family is in Italia and the Italian part of Croatia (Istria), and they eat horsemeat there. To be honest, I'm not big on it, but I like it better than Venison or Reindeer. You make me so happy with this, Russell! I just put up many jars of ginger sliced into honey as "tonik" (about half the batch also has Meyer lemons in it)... this is the time of year to make and start taking it. Okay, need to go finish making dinner - tonight is Manti and Khinkali, Salat Olivier, and Cucumber/Tomatoe salad. A bi gezint, Russell! Дорогие друзья в России, возможно, я больше не живу в России, но мое еврейское сердце осталось там!

Wow - those farmers' markets do look very well-presented & professional, with stalls/stands that look like they are permanently located there & used for other things from time to time. Most of the farmers' markets that I've been to in my own country, are much more basic, with no permanent stalls - but just something set up temporarily. And there's certainly a very good range of farm produce there in Russia as well.

Well, I wouldn't call it a typical farmers market. It's a center of Moscow after all, and it's targeted to upper middle class which are into eco lifestyle. Most farmers markets looks much less appealing. But it's good to have this kind of benchmark.

I love seeing all your videos. But I love this one especially. In America we love farmers markets. Sometimes things are cheaper. You know wether pesticides were used etc. In America we have lots of undisclosed ingredients in larger retails. A butcher can sometimes be cheaper with package deals especially for large families. You can get package deals like breakfast sausage, bacon, burgers, ground beef or one with chicken legs, hamburgers, sausage links, steaks. Sometimes its cheaper that way with the amount and price. Sometimes we just like giving back to the community and buying locally with our money. I love farmers and outdoor markets.

Love their decor (how they decorate the booths) in Moscow. Very pretty! We have much smaller pop-up farmers markets in many towns weekly in America. Usually on the weekends local farmers bring their goods to a small street market. But I have never seen a professional set up to showcase small businesses like that. In America its very hard for small businesses to complete with the big ones. People just go to mega stores.

To begin, that square is really pretty and the apple display was very artful. No idea what the group was singing but it was kind of catchy. In Canada a cheese maker is a cheesemaker. I love going to farmers markets for variety and some very fresh foods. p.s. looks like the amount of traffic in Moscow is about the same as it is here.

It’s a pity that Russell did not pay enough attention to the monument to the founder of Moscow, Prince Yuri Dolgoruky, who first mentioned Moscow in a letter of 1147, which is generally considered to be the year of Moscow’s founding, although human settlement had been here before. The building opposite, which is the residence of the Mayor of Moscow, has always served as the residence of the head of the city since its construction in 1782.

Well, if that's the case, you simply forgot to mention what happened at that very site BEFORE that current statue went up.. now that would be interesting for subscribers! General Mikhail Skobelev (The white General) was the first statue there back in 1912, then a monument to the Soviet Constitution replaced him after only 6 years, to which they added a 'Statue of Liberty' in 1919, which was later destroyed in 1941, although part of it is in the Tretyakov still I'm told.
