While I abhor the Russian actions in Ukraine, the Olympics question is thorny one. The original Olympics in Ancient Greece were held even in times of war. The idea was that hostilities would stop for the duration of the games. Perhaps this should be a requirement of participation in the modern games.

If russians are allowed to participate in the Olympics in Paris, then money must be changing hands with someone in the Olympic committee. What other possible explanation could there be for allowing russia [a country that has committed countless atrocities in Ukraine], to be on the world stage. Shame on the Olympic committee!

It's simple, unlike EU politicians who are unlikely to be re-elected, Putin is a rare case of a politician who has fulfilled his government's goals with extreme skill recognized by his voters. Somebody should explain to the EU’s “high representative” that Putin has not been “convicted” by the International Criminal Court - not yet, at least - but merely indicted. Unlike Russian courts, the ICC hears evidence, and then gives the defendant an opportunity to defend himself, before deciding if he is guilty or innocent.
