Todd shows us how he turned his kitchen worktop off cut into this rustic stool, creating the 2D version in VCarve to finish with a sander and machining the 3D model in Aspire without the need for hand finishing!
Watch how Todd takes his inspiration from a tractor seat with its ergonomic curves to show off the versatility of the fluting toolpath to create the seat impression, and get a bonus scalloped bowl from your test cut! Why not play around with Todd's seat designs, choose your own recycled wood to give it an even more interesting rustic feel, or mix it up with different materials. Make your own rustic stool that’s unique to your and always handy around the house or a perfect addition to your online shop!

I'm doing a few things with the bowl bit as well. It's one of my new favorite tools.

Hey Mark... yeah even though they call it a "bolw" bit... it is handy for all sorts of things!

Super nice stool I agree with you the multiply combine mode is great. I've started using it only in the past year. I made dozens of designs of Christmas ornaments and I needed to round the collars and other parts of my designs, so I've started to use the multiply and now I can't live without it

Hey Alain... thanks for leaving a comment!!! So good to hear... once you get your head wrapped aound all the combine modes the possibalities are endless. I 100% agree... I use Multi more then you/I would think... and Merge Low. Keep safe... and warm during those Canadain winters!!!

Interesting approach. I only have Vcarve pro but have managed to do a similar project using a series of moulding tool paths . As a retired guy i wish i could afford Aspire, someday mayed.. an aspirational goal maybe?😊
@vectric
@vectric Год назад
Hey Ian... good job. The moulding toolpath is very unique in that it's just not for moulding!!!
@ianbedwell4871

@@vectric a new version called a Profiling tool path that allows overlap errors would be great. I “cheat” by telling it the tool diameter is much smaller but a switch to ignore error would be better so the preview renders better.

Over last few years I made about 12000 jobs using your software. The only 2 minor issues in that time were: lack of multithreading and lack of tool for finishing inside corners with smaller diameter endmill. Thanks and tace care.
@vectric
@vectric Год назад
Hello... and thanks for the comment. Actually we do use multithreading for many of the performance critical parts of the software. Not everything but a lot of it. For finishing the inside corners we do offer using multipal tools in some of our toolpath strategies, so you can add in a smaller tool to remove som of the material a larger tool misses. We offer that in our pocket, Vbit and 3D finishing toolpaths. Hope that helps.

@3:46, you don't change the amount of passes. You change the *number* of passes. Just doing my part to preserve the English language. Cheers.

Question...I am not getting my CNC machine until around October when my shop is done, but, can I get the VCarve Pro software now and start playing around with it to get to know how to use it and get ahead of the game a little?
@vectric
@vectric Год назад
Hi J D, you can download the free trial of the software here: www.vectric.com/free-trial you can then have a play and test out the features (up to the point of saving out a toolpath). Once you get your machine you can test out cutting a project with a free trial project. Once you are happy you can then buy the software to start making projects of your own! Hope this helps, thanks!

Hello Acer... you will need V11 or V11.5.

nice tutorial on carving, but that stool will last 2 minutes with any weight. The legs will soon break with those short tenons. Chairs take a lot of stress and a lot of that translates into the legs and the joints.
@vectric
@vectric Год назад
Hello Mark. Thanks for the comment... to be fair... the one I made has been used a lot in the office, and it is still standing. If you are worried about that, you can easily add in a few cross braces. Also, the legs on this project are made from oak... and they would be hard to break unless you really tried.

I’m really on the basisc stage of carving and I missed a lot more of information. If you could , please I would like to see more basic examples of working with combine modes explained . Thanks for the video!
