Rustin is the critically acclaimed film from director George C. Wolfe, starring Colman Domingo as Bayard Rustin. Architect of 1963’s momentous March on Washington, Rustin challenged authority and never apologized for who he was, but was forgotten despite making history. Rustin spotlights the man who, alongside Martin Luther King Jr., dared to imagine a different world and inspired a movement. The film features an all-star cast including Chris Rock, Glynn Turman, Jeffrey Wright and Audra McDonald.

James Baldwin was openly gay, and to this day is revered by the American Black Family. Rustin was a parasite - has nothing to do with his bedroom. He worked to undermine MLK's fight to produce Justice in the form of Reparations. Rustin was and is trash; and is purposely being propped up by _dem folks_ because he did, in fact, work to undermine the American Black Family's pursuit of Justice.

Colman Domingo was excellent and definitely worthy of the best actor nomination at the Academy Awards. Enjoyed this whole film. The march on Washington had to be nothing less than amazing! And glad Rustin got the recognition he deserved here.

Really great movie. When you study the civil rights movement, you rarely think or learn about the logistics of organizing the movement or the infighting within the civil rights leaders. Really great watch and Coleman Domingo is definitely award worthy.

About time a movie is made about Bayard Rustin. He was very significant and instrumental to the Civil Rights Movement. He was one of Martin Luther King Jr.'s right hand man.

Man I love Colman Domingo, ever since he was introduced doing that monologue in the fancy suit in the cell with Nick in Fear the Walking Dead, he’s brilliant in everything. Actually those two actors were by far the best thing to come out of that show but it’s amazing to see how brilliantly he’s been doing since. Totally deserved

I can't wait to watch this film. It's more than time for the forgotten general of the civil rights movement to be showcased. If Bayard Rustin wasn't gay he would be mentioned in every conversation regarding the March on Washington and the civil rights movement. And thank goodness Coleman Domingo is finally getting a chance to shine.

Yes it's amazing that it's taken so long. I remember in my college class (around 2012) my professor mentioned him because of an article he read. He asked the class if anyone knew about him. Absolutely non one knew except for me (which was only because my mother knew him).

Agent Rustin worked to undermine what MLK was fighting for; and, literally, the year after MLK was assassinated, Agent Rustin went on a tirade deriding a key effort of The Honorable Dr. King's, _i.e._ REPARATIONS. May the soil lie light on Agent Rustin.

It was a gay black man who played a great deal in the civil rights movement but was pushed to the back because of his sexuality. Black Igtbq people has always been apart of the black struggle. ❤❤❤❤

That's not true: Rustin wasn't _pushed to the back of anything._ Rustin started that _pushed back_ narrative; he started that narrative during a time when an openly gay, and outspoken champion for his people was speaking all around the world.... That man's name is James Baldwin. NO, Rustin's bedroom had nothing to do with his relationship with the community, his penchant for undermining MLK's efforts - efforts that costed MLK his life - is what caused The Movement to _push back_ on Rustin. Rustin was a parasite that was attempting to both undermine, and crowbar others' issues into The Movement. May the soil lie light upon him.

MLK was an ardent supporter of reparations for the descendants of slaves - this was known, and he spoke on it plainly. In May 1969, ~1year after MLK's assassination, Agent Rustin did an interview with the New York Times speaking DIRECTLY against what MLK had put forth as the basis for reparations. Later in that troll's life, he would draft a speech entitled, _The New N1@@ers are Gay,_ whereby he stated that the focus of all social change should be on gays. This was in 1986, ~1year after the Philly PD bombed the headquarters of a Black liberation movement; and at a time that government operatives were flooding the Black community with dr-gs. Rustin was trash; but as a tool for maintaining a system of inequity and misdirection, he served a purpose that is now being lionized by those that, too, seek to undermine what MLK fought and died for. Peace and Power, Sis.

Kinda funny seeing Jeffrey Wright in this, considering he's played Dr. King before in the movie Boycott. Despite not looking like MLK Jr. he did an excellent job. I remember seeing that movie on years ago and that was the first I'd ever heard of Bayard Rustin.

I read about Rustin. Sadly, Dr. King was fighting for equal rights, and a man who helped move him to prominence couldn't receive it. I saw the movie yesterday. It was fantastic.

A movie, without furthering one's information on a subject, may not be a healthy place to learn of such figures, especially as they relate to humanitarian causes. With that said, I'll just say this: MLK was undermined by Agent Rustin; MLK fought and ultimately d1ed for efforts to bring Justice for American Descendants of Slaves classified as Black people. Agent Rustin proved to be a parasite with the primary objective of crowbarring in other causes in order to ensure resources were not distributed to those who MLK fought and d1ed for. If you are interested, I can direct you to writings, videos and lectures demonstrating this point. However, I do understand if one just wants to be entertained by a propaganda tale.
