Long time no see guys here we have rusty forged scissors which are from ancient 1900s also known as dressmaker Scissors they are badly rusted and all covered in deep corrosion. I know many people don't believe that such ruined things is possible to restore. I put titanic efforts to make that Scissors look that perfect and shine and this restoration took me many days and endless work hours but It worth a final result.
All the Restoration processes is below:
At first need to remove pivot which holds tightly two parts of the Scissors it can be done with a help of drill and to take out is good to use a drift punch. It is made with a Forge Welding technology where blade is made out of high carbon steel and for handle used soft. The handles are larger than standard Scissors and this is so that you can fit all of your fingers to give you more strength and pressure when cutting through heavyweight fabrics.
Grinding:
Rough surface was grinded to fine with a different files and sandpaper It is also effective for Blade Grinding and rust removal but is very slow method so I spent 2 days on sanding one ring handle part and that was one of my hardest Restoration ever.
v. Pin: The adjustable pin was made of round brass blank.
v. Handle: To repair a crack on a ring handle I used Electrode Welding.
v. Sharpening: For final Blade Sharpening is good to use a Diamond Paste compound which need to be covered with a thin layer and sanded for a long time slowly turning roughness into a Razor Sharp edge.
It is easy to say but restoring this Scissors took me 21 day of work and is one of my most complicated project. I put a lot of my skill time and effort to make them shine like a mirror and sharp like a katana so I hope you enjoy watching this video as well as put your Thumbs up and Subscribe my channel.

Guys Spring has come! And that gives me a huge motivation and powers to restore and create more interesting things outdoor :) Here you see an ancient forged scissors from early 19th century in a really bad condition. I don't know exactly where and who made them but you can see in the video a very accurate forge welding method between ring handle soft steel and high carbon blade. It shows extraordinary skill of blacksmith and can be the special product of an smith expert more than 120 years ago how do you think? You may not believe but i spent 3 weeks on this project to make and was working on every single corner of this scissors polishing and trying to make them as perfect as possible as well as razor sharp. Hope you will like and enjoy watching the video :)

That was actually very cool to watch ..Many people would have no idea of how many hours of sanding goes down in such a project...Really love how you made the screw as well ..big thumbs up 👍👍👍

I love videos like this done outside where I can here the wind blowing every now and then. It gives me the feeling of also being outside and not captive by responsibility within these 4 walls. Bird chirps can be heard inside but you have to be outside for that wind to echo in your ears and float across your skin.

I have scissors exactly like that. Found at yard sale, for $1 a few years ago. Made in Sheffield, England. Per the manufacturer's ID, determined that the scissor is circa 1850. Needs a hinge pin restore / replacement. Original pin was replaced by somebody a long time ago with a bolt and wingnut. Nice job there. You inspired me to address the hinge pin issue.

Did you get around to doing the restoration on your scissors ✂️ you wrote about here? Good yard sale find. The old tools are a thing of beauty.

@@kerriemills1310 No, still on the back burner, and mine wasn't and isn't rusty like the pair in the video. The only issue is the hinge.

@@lugwrench9832 yeas it did look to be a detailed bit of work to re-make a hinge. Even in this video. Can understand. Thank you.

Growing up my mother had a pair of scissors like that. Those kinds of scissors are made to last a lifetime. I bet you that the metal that is used in the old scissors is melted you could probably make 10 pair of new scissors. They just don't make them like that any longer. Everyone wants something cheap and like the old saying goes you get what you pay for. You really did a great job in not bringing them back.

That is not restoration. Restoration means to return the item in the same shape and form that it used to be when it was new. I really doubt that that forged scrissors were not mirror polished when they were new. The work anyway is very impressive and good!
