Should I change the title to “New Ruth”? All the signs and maps call it “Ruth”. Seems to cause some confusion and I want my videos to be accurate. Keep the comments coming.
I KNOW ALL ABOUT OLD RUTH AND NEW RUTH. RAISED IN TONOPAH CANYON TILL I WAS A FRESHMAN AT WPHS. WE MOVED TO NEW RUTH, MY PARENTS BOUGHT A MOVED HOUSE FROM KIMBERLY. THEY LIVED THER TILL THEIR LATE 80S..RUTH WILL ALWAYS BE HOME TO ME. I ENJOYED YOU VIDIO ALLEY AND STREETS.
Im from Salt lake and my Great grandparents lived and worked in Ruth Nevada. My aunts name was Ruth after Ruth Nevada. I now reside in Carson City, Nevada.
I was born and raised in Ruth. I was born in 1964 and moved to ely in 2011. It was a great place to grow up. I had a lot of memories there. Would love to visit with you and tell you about it
Nice video. My dad was born and raised to age 16 in Ruth. He told us many things he did there as a kid. If my grandma was there to hear the stories she would just gasp. My grandpa was an electrician at the mine (I think). Dad and his sister attended White Pine High School. In 1942 my grandparents decided to return to Michigan. My dad graduated high school in Lincoln Park Michigan. My folks visited Ruth in 1952. I was with them but at age 2 I didn't make any memories.
Karen, we’re about the same age, I was born in 1949. It’s important for us to document our old experiences and memories. Hopefully our young generations will find them interesting.
I grew up here! Lived in Ruth from 1961 to 1978. My dad worked for Kennecott copper. I went to Ruth grade school there. The house I grew up in someone bought and moved to East Ely. It was so cool to see. When I lived there we just called it Ruth there was nothing left of the old Ruth but a few buildings they didn't move. You know Stephen King wrote the book Desperation about Ruth. "Stephen first came up with the idea for Desperation in 1991, when he was driving his daughter's car cross-country. He passed through Ruth, Nevada, a small town with seemingly no inhabitants. He immediately thought, "They're all dead," and then "Who killed them?" At that point, his "Voice" immediately answered "The sheriff killed them all." In 1994, he decided to pursue this idea further while driving across country on his motorcycle during the Insomnia book tour."
While I was researching Ruth I found out about that movie and watched some clips of it, still need to watch the whole thing. I need to search out more info about the “Insomnia book tour” also.
I used to live here as a kid! was super surreal to see you drive by my old house and drive down the road I used to walk my sheep down everyday in the summer haha
My Uncle Elmer Bennin worked for the Kinnacot silver mine and I was there when I was a young boy a few times in my life he retired from the silver mine and worked at the little school as a janitor Elmer Bennin. I remember going to the little store where we could play pool and buy candy and soda made friends with a lot of the locals explored a lot of the area the area went to Garnett hill to pick Garnett stones. Saw my 1st Diamondback rattlesnake . Cherished those memories.
Just came here while reading Stephen King's Desperation. SK usually makes up new names in his novels for places that actually exist. Apparently the invented mining town of Desperation west of the real town of Ely is based on Ruth. I checked the comments and nobody has mentioned it.
I was just there and the town looks much worse in person. Broken down cars in front of broken down houses. Junk, pallets, garbage and tree limbs in many yards. Perhaps 10 % of the homes look like the owners care about their property. One of the crappiest places I have ever seen.
This is new Ruth. It isn't the one that was established in 1902. Why didn't you stick to the streets instead of going down so many back allies? This whole video is a fiasco. You ought to take it down.
My grandma's house was moved from old Ruth to here at 11 Keystone. There was a great view of the park right out of her front window. How very many times I remember sitting with Great Grandma Mary. ❤❤ she'd read me courious George books. Untill later when what we could do was watch Mary Poppins. ⌚ Was that for reals with the baby buggy with the flap? My goodness. So many of my Christmas 🎄 memories in that ole house. My dad Terry Rowe had the nicest spot in the house. Lol
