Hello everyone! This week I covered "Ruthlessness" from EPIC: The Musical! Save the single here: ffm.to/ruthles...
I LOVE this song and I'm so glad I finally got to sing it! I’m always so enthralled by the idea of singing/acting as a god or deity. I love seeing the different ways that it is approached by different performers. It’s very neat. I always come at it from the angle of gods being busy with much bigger things and being bored/unimpressed with some rando human showing up to complicate thier lives.
There were a few parts of this song I was hoping to rerecord but i have been sick as a dog for the past month so I didn’t have a chance. Hopefully it can play into the aloofness i was hoping to potray!

I love how Anna’s Poseidon sounds like she has everything planned out and is annoyed like it’s a inconvenience to her then any thing, meanwhile Stephan’s Poseidon sounds like a blind rage in the moment ody showed up. Love your covers Anna🩵

Yeah I always love the differences in vibe when someone covers a song. On the same note when after the bit where she says "die" the cover isn't as heavy with the noise and bass then the original so you get the vibe that our Odysseus stand-in was separated from their crew rather than made to watch them die.

I was just thinking that. Annas is more divine annoyance, she's completely in control and is just righting a wrong that was done to her which gives her a more ethereal 'I'm above you' feeling. Stephens differs in that in his you get the feeling Poseidon is *enjoying himself*, he's getting catharsis from fucking with the mortals who dared to slight him in this way. The're both good takes on the same song honestly.

I love Anna's version of Poseidon because without the bag line it makes it seem like she purposely "spared" Odysseus to further prove her point that "ruthlessness mercy upon ourselves" because now they'll have to live with the fact their entire fleet was wiped out.

@astraamarante6233 _shrugs_ this is what happens when you're retelling a story in song form instead of covering a song. She gets to omit the bag of storm winds, while he has to squeeze in that act of cunning/wit because it's a character and plot thing

Absolutely loved this cover! Your Poseidon sounds somehow both coldly furious and utterly in control and a little fed up/bored all at once, like revenge is necessary and wanted but also dealing with Odysseus is beneath Poseidon entirely. The art is also incredibly stunning! Well done all around.

This Poseidon allowed Odysseus to sail back home with all his men alive. It's only during the celebration that Poseidon shows up and kills everyone; the whole of Ithaca now drowns beneath the waves. Anna, you're Poseidon is chilling and I loved every second of it!!!
