In this episode I visit Rutt's Hut, Located in Clifton, New Jersey known for its style of deep-fried hot dogs. The original process of frying causes the hot dog casings to crack and split, which has led to the nickname "Rippers". The relish is just as famous as the hot dogs -- made with a secret blend of mustard and spices. Rutt's Hut has been featured on the PBS special A Hot Dog Program, USA Today, numerous Food Network shows and the Travel Channel's Deep-Fried Paradise.

My grandfather worked there when he got out of the Navy after WW2. I've been going there since before I could even eat real foods and its never changed. Great ppl great food.

Used to live in Jersey. I've been to Rutt's Hut at least 50 times. The rippers are the bomb and that relish! I'm in California and miss it so much!

Rutt's Hut is a North Jersey classic spot! Can't go wrong! Glad you came up the Turnpike to give them shine! Next time you're in North Jersey you need to check out King's on Clinton Ave. in Newark. Great food!

Brother, since you live close to it, I highly recommend Charlie's Crepes in Merchantville, NJ. Specializes in amazing savory comfort food shoved in a crepe. 5 star rating on every food review site. The man behind the counter is super humble and could use the exposure.

I agree, the Italian Hot Dog at Dickey Dee's is really good. I lived down the block from Dickey Dee's and Calandra's Bakery...The French Baguette at Calandras is no joke...really good...peace..

Hey, that ripper with the relish is truly one of those things you should experience before dying. The relish just makes you feel healthy after you eat that deep fried dog. I remember once going there when my belly was bothering me and afterwards I was CURED! Anyway, Next time you go you have to try the dipped hamburger. It's a simple burger dipped in gravy--just nice.

The seagulls are a permanent fixture at Rutt's Hut. I always gave them my leftovers. I be sitting in the car and just toss them on the hood and they did the rest. Wellers with mustard was always my go to.

You’re in my neck of the woods again! You’ve got to try Star Tavern Pizza in Orange, NJ. Right die the street from Jimmy Buffs.They’ve been rated #1 in Jersey. It’s so good you could literally eat the whole pie by yourself and the other food on their menu is slamming too.

Rutt's Hut has been #1 on my list of go to places if I ever go to Jersey. Cooking dogs in the deep fryer is already a game changer by itself but I just gotta try that relish and get a taste and feel of the real deal iconic place altogether. Cheers! 🌭🍺

I know I'm late here not sure if anyone answered your question but it's a natural casing beef and pork hotdog at least from everyone who has inside knowledge with them. I grew up eating Rutts Hutt and was spoiled eating these great hotdogs and ever since I moved to the west coast it has been difficult finding a place that serves anything quit like it but I hope some day to open up my own hotdog place and just hope it's even close to Rutts Hutt.

Man, growing up you can tell the difference in taste between beef, chicken, pork, and turkey hot dog. We always had to eat the chicken, pork, or turkey kind of hot dog because they were cheaper for mom to get for us. But I still remembered the first time I got to taste a beef hot dog, man I felted like we won the lottery and we gone be eating the good stuff for now on. Ever since I grow up, I only touch beef hot dogs. I will not indulge in any other flavor because it doesn't compare.

Lived in New Jersey my whole life I have been there many times. It is an extremely good hot dog. Also like 10 minutes down the road from there is a place called The Hot grill. One of the best Texas wieners you'll ever have.

For you out towner that moves on outside of north Jersey , YOU CAN USE YOUR AIR FRYER AND MAKE YOURSELF A RIPPER.
