Same with the UK "testers" for Nokta. I shake my head in disbelief at them. They are ridiculous charlatans.. Xp wouldn't give any of them the time of day ( I am not an XP user). Two fully qualified, long-time-served testers collaborating with each other is plenty.
I have just subscribed to your channel. Thank you for testing this Rutus versa. I purchased one a while ago and havent used it much as I couldn’t see any English language videos showing different testing. That’s when I messaged Calabash to see if he could get hold of one to test with no bias. I can clearly see there is a problem now. I do think Rutus should address these issues and apologise to Calabash.
I'm a Rutus versa owner after watching video's i reached out to Rutus asking for 1.7.1 program avalable on the website. i got kicked out the Rutus versa FB page. its not an offical Rutus page. Its owned by a few Rutus associates who can't take the truth. I've had a lovely conversation with the Rutus team today. I can't fault the service from there engineer . team. Rutus have taken my information and will be working hard to fix the issue. I've found a few nice coins with the 1.7.1 program including a 1689 Gold William 3rd Guinea. "Happy Day's" I'll continue using the 1.7.1 program Thanks for your testing its been intresting and very helpful. The Versa is great machine using the 1.7.1 program give the 1.7.1 program a test. Cheers and Beers Wishing my Friends across the pond a fantastic 2024 .
Hey Cain, you are not the first that i have read that has been kicked off or been put in time out for having issues with the Versa. Thats pretty crazy. RUTUS should have there own page. Every manufacturer has there own page and then owners/users have pages as well. Thx for the info and appreciate the feedback. Hope they come up with an update soon even though some say its not needed.
Thanks for the test Iffy, looking forward to hearing how Rutus reply. As someone who has spent their hard earned on this machine I hope we get some feedback from them promptly. From my understanding the 2.44 update took around a year to develop and one of it's main features being the way it handled iron. I don't see another update coming anytime soon. Would be good to see a manual ground balance and snug cable if you get the chance to do more.
@@IffySignals I've just redone my test quickly with the modern nails switched down the barrel as suggested, snug cable and ground balanced with -10 discrimination, park mode 2 tones. Exactly the same results as you, it's hitting the coin with the nails 3/4" elevation but above that it loses it. I then switched to single frequency 38+KHZ very low EMI it still doesn't hit the coin. I then one setting at a time performed the following : maxed out sensitivity, maxed out coin boost, still wont hit it. Vanquish 540 on same test performs about equal, loses the coin with the nail above a 3/4" elevation. Also with the coin on the flat among 4 nails it wont hit it. I didn't film today as weathers rank and so am I but wanted to see if results were consistent with yours. It's definitely not your machine. Watching with interest, I can maybe add a video in the next day or two but think honestly you have it covered. Thanks Joe
Either there is something wrong with that particular machine or it is just not performing in accordance with it's price point. I am guessing the latter but lets see how the smaller coil does. Although really it should not need a smaller coil to pass those tests.
I agree. I have tried watching some other videos (pre update) and watching the screen but they are tough and not in English. I am also not sure if the update Rutus put out is the issue and it was performing better before. I will run through the small coil and same adjustments as well as reaction speed tomorrow. Reaction speed did not help at all with the stock coil. It should have.
I will post a test this weekend this is amazing on the beach. I’m not as good as Iffy but will give it a shot. Great content I will also use a vanquish 540 which is also an amazing beach detector. I am in Fort Myers FL.
@@calabashphotography1234 I’m not even in your guys league my guy. It is a trashy beach from hurricane 🌀 IAN Sanibel Island. They have it cleaned up for the most part but a long ways to go. I was trying to demonstrate that it isolates tones similar to the equinox well even in trashy areas such as the beach I was at. Thanks for watching it means a lot. We all have our takes and I appreciate what you guys do and are about. We will see how it does in further testing this weekend on the beach.
Sounded like salt minerals to me but hey what Do I know...Here is a piece of advice sell that and start your channel with the WS6 Master you have..@@davidbecker4674
@ Iffy thank you for this test👌👌,I'll give the Rutus the benefit of the doubt so far, it's ultimately about how it performs in the ground and not on a piece of concrete, the only way to do an honest review is to test it against the Legend or the Manticore and see if it takes the same objects so you take away all doubts. Personally, I think it's dangerous to judge a detector for masking on a piece of concrete, give him a far chance!!
Thx for the feedback MM. if its not going to separate above ground its not going to be any better when you add more to mask the target like soil, minerals, iron bits, coal, trash.. this is best case.
A SS2 or a Compadre eats these tests. The SS" came out 40 years ago, for example. Lots of analogue machines beat most 21st C SMFs for ancient sites hunting, still: to this day; Fact.
Just for the sake of completeness. Try it with multi in every mode…including Single frequencies in every mode. Just to give the Versa every chance to succeed. Thanks Iffy.
It's one thing to make some settings changes to get it to succeed, and that has been done. It's a whole other thing when you have to click your heels and cross your fingers :)
I tired field as well was worse.. Have not messed with Single frequency. Being a high end Multi Frequency machine it should fly through these test (at least my level 3 blocks) in multi. The Legend, Nox, Manticore, Score, Double Score, Deus 2 all Multi and can pass level 3 just by turning them on and no adjustments.
The Xterrapro kicked its butt for CD’s testing. Of course I agree with you Iffy. Was just suggesting that you wring it out completely while you have it in your possession 🙂👍
Its pretty bad Bill. Maybe Rutus will have an update for there loyal users. This is a best case. If its having an issue unmasking above ground, it only gets worse when you add soil, minerals ect..
Ok unlike Calabash's videos where I thought I had seen high numbers poking through with an iron tone.........and I thought it was a tone break issue. I can see your screen far more clearly so I now know it's not. Now it's either going to be a software issue or a coil issue in my books. Also remember guys............these are hard tests. It doesn't mean you can't find anything with this machine. I have plenty of old machines that perform terribly on these tests and I found some of my best stuff with them before I bought my Legend. Not everything in the ground is masked in iron. It's really a minority of targets that are masked.
@@IffySignals Bummer. Well it looks like they''ll have to hit the drawing board again for a while. I think they can pull it off. Everything else about the machine looks to be decent.
These are easy tests. Most 80's analogue machines will walk these disciplines. I know: I used enough of them. Hard tests are on Roman and Medieval habitation sites.
I know If I am to go with another metal detector I would want to break away from the Normal detectors Everyone seems to want to swing.. Thanks For these videos. I am not going to say I would buy it or I wont. It is just a thought..
Rutus oh Rutus what happened??? 😂 Only thing I like about this detector is the name ! The name cannot be beat !! 😅 .. Maybee it just lacks performance in Multi frequency??? Did you try in single frequency yet ? Either way a high performing Multi frequency machine is the main selling point for me.....
How were there other machines? This is the first RUTUS i have tested. Did not mess much with single other than 14 by accident. Was not good. Exactly on the Multi part. High end multi i want to know the results on multi.
I'm really hoping this machine comes through. I really like the layout and the Rutus version of the X/Y screen. Regardless how how it performes even if it were on par with the D2 it's still pricey considering we have no U.S. Dealers. I hope it's just a software issue. Did you by chance try to run the test on a stable single freq? Just to rule out the Multi Selection. Also do you ever wonder how they don't test basic stuff like this before they release a machine? Rutus has such a good rep with the Alter 71 its hard to imagine they didnt.
So I just saw Rutus response to Calabash. That's pretty disappointing on their part If I understand correctly they say "Ground Filter 5 " .. I think this means reactivity which is what you just demonstrated is best for small coins. However just to make sure on page 2 of the manual it says in High Trash areas you should run it at 8. (I would be very surpised if there is that much difference between 5 and 8 that is suddenly passes these tests with flying colors?) Also I'm not sure I follow there logic with the "simple rule in such tests" comment about discriminating up to the nail being cut out to accurately perform the test. Even if that works (which I would like to see you try with and without Iron Volume on that is a separate issue. Unmasking is not Separation - Those are two different things. We don't soley rely on detectors to unmasks targets for us any more. The processors, multi-freq, and coil-tech has surpassed the need to do this IMO. As demonstrated by a
Thanks for the info Travis. I tried 1-8 before hand thinking maybe I would get better results a little higher or lower and i didn’t. I will show that today though.
I know thart Rutus is not selling in the US but here in Europe they are . I'm metal detecting in Belgium and i know a lot of people in the hobby but non of them are using Rutus products. From what i'm hearing they had a good single frequency machine but this mult frequency machine is a lemon. It's going fast in the metal detector line up. Every 3-4 years manufactures bringing out new models who are better performing and are getting cheaper. One other lemon from Rutus can mean the end of this company if they don't step up. That would be a shame. More companies means more competition and better machines with better prices..
My above ground testing is not as extensive as yours and yes, the Legend does better in them. IN the ground the Versa is excellent. Like my Tarsacci, it looks at targets/ground in a somewhat different way than my other machines and finds additional good targets that were missed. I hope you get a chance to use the Versa on a beat iron trashed relic site. If it has higher mineralization even better to see how it stacks up. Thanks for the video.
Total BS! Unmasking better in the ground...You guys are reaching ...Get over it! Only detector in the world that cant pass an above ground unmasking nail test..
@@xp8952 The Dual modes are one of the main reasons for me getting the Versa. That, and Rutus’s reputation for mineral ground performance. I have not been disappointed and further enhancements are supposedly being worked on.
So Chris you are saying that the versa fails the above ground nail test but would pass this same test easily in Culpeper dirt? Like bury the blocks under Virginia or Colorado dirt and it would pass easily?? WTF? If it cannot pass an air test above ground no soil included I don't believe for a second that it would pass in the ground at all. No question...
Watched halfway, will finish the rest after work - but few conclusions from Versa user: -for proper iron infested sites I wouldn’t consider multi- better choice will be frequency above 30, closer to 40 -dropping disc to -10 as per recommendation caused targets were shown (in minus range, but still). In this case, disc -5/-6 and one tone will sort the thing. Yes - you will dig more iron, but with chance of having good targets in that range, those few nails more wouldn’t make a difference. In reality, for trashy sites there is more about approach and settings than ID number. Had good results on iron infested areas even with Field Multi where tiny silver cut quarters popped up - and previous machines shown only iron on that end. The biggest advantage of Versa seems to becoming its curse - as with durability to set up for every scenario, there is still huge percentage of users choosing wrong settings (willingly or not) or playing blindly with settings - or best example, not even reading manual. Could you do a small favour for me and post coin data for this test? I’m not familiar with US coins
Hey Rob, i went down to two tone to separate the audio from just ferrous to non ferrous. Single tone for all targets including iron would be a nightmare for relic hunter. I am using a Silver merc dime, silver barber dime, buffalo nickel, V nickel. Thx for the info. I will try field Multi as well 👍
@@IffySignals the purpose of 1 tone is only to be able to move divider between ferrous/non ferrous from 0 to whichever you will determine with discrimination. That was my point when saying about approach - in iron infested sites good targets may not give you perfect signal and anything above nails should be dug up. With knowing how ID scale works and what you can do to shift it- you can adjust machine to whichever site you are on. Now in new software the bigger difference is in types of multi -W/FL/FH- and first try should be FL as according to manual it has best unmasking. I see you joined recently to our UK group - see me there and give a shout if you want to discuss any settings or technical stuff 👍
@RobertWestWykopki you are talking about moving the actual tone break to right above the nails to help. I got ya. Yes you will definitely dig allot more iron that way. With this machine the iron is negative numbers so moving the tone break to above nails would still be negative numbers for non ferrous targets. That can be done on most other high end machines as well but the actual amount of iron that dig would drive me nuts. Thats a big adjustment to make for something as easy as this test.
@@IffySignals correct. This came from using VLF machines where non ferrous can fall just below discrimination. In Versa combination of lowering the disc point on 1 tone and adjusting the iron filter to remove unwanted ferrous from this range can work out - and most of ferrous stuff will come far below so there shouldn’t be tremendous number of unwanted targets
click your heels, twist your nose, rub your tummy, whistle, look East , blow your nose , all at the same time and it might just start working for you IFFY!@@RobertWestWykopki
Ok if it couldn’t pass that iron elevated test it is also not possible to do it on ground. That is very simple for all metal detectors. Signal amplification by ground is possible but not target separation. Period.
@@IffySignals The tests are illustrative, but they provide information on the differences between the devices and only in difficult, specific conditions will it give an advantage.I showed the first software problems of the new Versa. I faced a wall of hate and hatred from the producer and his people. Then in the new update, all these things were included.
@@omnitron I understand how that goes.. allot of machines have been over these blocks for testing and if it needed adjustment on the level 4 or 5 blocks to hit them that would be understandable. Not seeing the Level 2 nickel with factory presets or even after making the recommendations is pretty bad.
@@IffySignals The topic has been known for years since the Alter71 and Atrex models. Low conductors have always been a problem in these devices.Nothing new here.
My retired F75 does a better job detecting. D1 is better that this $700 detector. I don't believe this RUTUS company will be around long with so many other performing options.
Yes, played with all settings today. Just focused on anything that would help with separation and nothing I tried or that Rutus recommended helped. Even tried Disc at -29 to fully open it up.
@@norseman1137 i can tell you really like this Versa and I wish there were videos out there that showed similar tests. I ruled out a bad coil by testing the small and it performed the same.. overall it can separate and hit targets at depth so i do not think its a bad machine. I think there is an unmasking issue overall or maybe just with this recent update.
Yes, all levels. Not any better. Will show that tomorrow with the small coil. I was hoping the small coil would do good but tried it tonight and it doesn’t either.
