I wonder why Daoguang’s daughters, Princess Shou’an of the first rank, Princess Shouzang of the second rank, and Princess Shou’en of the first rank didn’t salute the other consorts who had high ranks when they got married like Imperial Noble Consort Zhuangshun and Concubine Tian (whose ranks were high enough to warrant this privilege).
I am so grateful to God for this video. It explains so much about the rank and status of Qing dynasty princesses. Thank you so much for giving us such a deep insight into the world of Qing dynasty princesses. Thank you so much for teaching about Ming dynasty princesses, too. This is such a fantastic video. Thank you so very much.
Princess Hejing is really an entitled brat in the drama series. It was interesting that the Qing dynasty princess' status was equal or less to an imperial concubine. Some of them had not reached to old age. From looking at the portraits of a few princesses in court dress at the Asian Art or the Smithsonian museum, they are very much of that of a consort or concubine. The Manchu princesses were not as important compared to Han Chinese princesses prior to 1722. They were never present, almost existent in the Qing court. I think the status of the wives (fujin) of the Heshuo Qinwang and Duoluo Junwang were the same as the status of consort and concubine?
It makes sense Qing dynasty would do it that way because someone had to be worthy enough to be elevated to empress/consort/concubine etc, but you were simply born into being a princess.
Very interesting video . Patiently waiting for a video on the greetings between the imperial women in Qing dynasty and also the different sedan chairs in forbidden city . Thank you so much for the good work
I hope you can answer my question.. is it impossible in the history that the emperor adopts a girl from a noble family as daughter and be granted the title 3rd rank or state princess.. since the emperor had no daughters..
Thank you for this Video. I think a Princess was leave the Family with a Married and was then a Member of the Husband Family, so she must Salut the Wife´s of her Father. But in Qianlongs Heart Hejia was high, so we know it out your Videos. It´s always a big Win, if it will be found unknown Records about this Time to learn more or she what was all the time a Misunderstanding of History;).
True the emperor always has to respect the consort dowagers (step mothers ) and his aunts(the grand princesses Just like if there's 2 Empress dowagers Empress dowager who was a consort before still needs to bow to the other Empress dowager the former Empress
I have a question... Hope you will notice❤ Why do people refer themselves differently? As in what is the difference between "bengong" "chenchiye" "aija" "pinchiye"…?
They refer to themselves in third person. Aijia means queen mother (ie Aijia míngbái translates to Queen Mother understands) usually children of high status roles (empress dowager) will refer to themselves as “archen” when speaking to them. Concubines who are head of their palace will refer to themselves as ‘bengong’ which means mistress/head of that palace. Concubines use “Chéngjī” when they are with the emperor. Servants say “Nubee” I looked this info up a while ago I can’t remember all of it. But that’s the gist of it .
