Thanks for the video! It was fun! Love the RV-12! Did you build or buy?

It's part of a flying club and it's a factory built. We have this, 2 172s and 2 182s.

Hank: Thanks for taking us along for the ride. The camera angle made it feel like I was in the right seat with you. A couple of questions if I may: Did you ever figure out the CHT/EGT high reading issue? How do you like the RV at this point? The Dynon looked sharp, but on a fully sunny day is it still bright? Noticed you did this without an iPad. Does the Dynon give you all you need for navigation and information? Finally, early on your instructor suggested using a couple of fingers on the stick instead of your fist. Was this info helpful and do you use a "finger grip" rather than the fist? Looking forward to your next video. Hopefully, your progress is going well. All the best.

Hey John, that's a lot of questions! I'll try to answer them in order. This plane is part of a flying club and we put blue tape on the radiator in the winter or you'll never get the temps up. We just had too much tape. I pulled a row off and now it is fine. We'll remove it completely soon. I absolutely love flying the RV12 and is a big reason I joined this flying club. I've never had an issue with the dynon in bright sunlight. I also now use an iPad as well but the dynon gives you all you need. I like pairing the two as I can develop my flight routes in the iPad and then transfer them to the dynon very easily. It's also great on approach as I can add that in once I know what runway I'm using. And yes, I do fly with just two fingers now. I passed my PPL at the end of January and am concentrating more on flying the 172s in the club in preparation for my instrument rating, which I'll start soon.

@@hankwilliams4841 Thanks for your thoughtful response. Congratulations on the PPL, you've been quite busy! Morphing right into the instrument rating is probably a good thing. You will do well. Looking forward to your continued progress and more videos .

As a pilot wannabe, why are you on and off the autopilot so much? Why not set it and let it fly the ship?
@hankwilliams4841

This was my first cross-country solo so I was still getting used to using the auto-pilot. When I fly now, I do "set it and forget it" more. Also, in this RV-12. if the conditions are bumpy, the auto-pilot tends to chase the bumps making it an even more uncomfortable flight. I don't remember if that was the situation here.

Not trying to be mean....but you need to make your videos less boring. I know going cross country by yourself can be that way and at least you have things that you have to do to keep you busy but you need to relate to your viewers.

Umm, no I don't. Watch or don't watch. Up to you. I'm definitely a minimalist on editing time.

@@hankwilliams4841 sorry, It was just an attempt as a viewer to relate to you and the enjoyment of flying your RV. Or figure out why you were posting it.

@@larrywhiteley6374 No worries, I just don't have the time or decent software to edit them. Basically, just threw them up so others could watch if they wanted to. I suspect a lot of folks fast forward through the straight and level portions. Once I actually have my ticket and am doing more interesting flights with friends and family, I'll probably put a bit more effort into it.

@@hankwilliams4841 unedited gives those of us who don't fly a lot a chance to listen into ATC and flight follow radio calls as well as ATIS terminology.
