slow down in bad weather, slow down on down grades. pu trucks brakes are pushed some times past there limits while towing tired just stop for a nap. but AlWAYS give way to commercial drivers as they are on a forced run. you are not. keep up on your maintenance and tires.

accident number one, never "pump" the brakes, keep a steady pressure. but he should have slowed down before getting going so fast. accident number two. clearly his fault. folling too close to safely stop. again going too fast for the conditions. number three. loaded wrong? too small of a two truck? no weight supports? number of reasons a bumper trailer can do this. KEEP the trailer and your trucks frame LEVEL. slow down. i have seen parked trucks get flipped over. but cross winds are a killer heavy or light. watch out for when the freeway is cutting through rolling hills. you get hit with a gust, then nothing then a gust repeat. then a bow wave or suction from a big truck. before moving after crashing the overhang. flatten your tires. might just give you room to get out. but KNOW your total higth. and length. turn angles, etc. know the condition and use of your tires, know your weight, speed limits are for good clean dry pavement in great weather, during day light hrs. ALL others slow down. so it takes another hr or four to get there, but you will get there. and all this is for everybody, big truck, small truck, car, rv, trailers, everybody. SLOW DOWN.

I drive a converted school bus, aka skoolie. It's 40ft long and about 12 1/2 tons. I stay in the right lane doing 55-60. You should never be in a rush when driving or towing an RV/trailer. Not only should you keep an eye on weather, but get a GPS that routes you according to your length, height, and weight.

Can you recommend a gps app that does that?
@OutdoorMilesMedia
@OutdoorMilesMedia 11 месяцев назад
Sure- one of the most popular ones is the copilot gps app. It’s not free, but offers exactly what you’re looking for. Garmin RV GPS units will also do this: copilotgps.com/en-us/rv-navigation/ amzn.to/3FjFg07

Looking at accidents and examining their causes is an excellent idea. We do this in aviation: we examine accidents, understand their causes and - hopefully - learn from them & avoid getting into these situations ourselves.

Its usually the idiots that create the accidents.

The common denominator in all of these: Stupidity and the death of common sense. I look at these with both horror and amazement. A colleague of my dad's was a small plane pilot. "If you even have to ask 'should I be flying today?' should be enough to emphatically tell you NOT to be flying." The only--and only one--reason that an RV would be in some of the high-risk scenarios as shown would be if pulling off the road would be impossible. Assessment and avoidance. Getting caught in a storm is NOT an excuse when weather predictions have a fair degree of accuracy as well as regular reports of road conditions. The other? Inadequate training in rig management. Thus far, however, there seems to be no refresher courses in the regaining of common sense.

slow down and keep your mind on the rd. tired. stop and take a nap. but always give the the commercial driver, as they are on a forced time frame. you are not.

the vehicle size has little to do with anything. Otherwise tractor trailers wouldnt work. You're giving out false information. many trucks pull weight many times their own weight.

Factor trailer are designed to pull the weigh they pull. An empty truck trailer handles differently than a loaded trailer. A loaded trailer of a given length is less likely to be blown over at a given wind speed/direction . also empty flatbed trailers handle differently on curve at speed than loaded ones and spread axles handle curves at slow speed differently than tandem or tricks especially when backing. Weight distribution is the point NOT how much when it comes to semi truck. You can only put so much weigh of the trailer onto the tow vehicle in an rv . for example on a semi ruck that is 80000lbs with a tandem axle trailer it must be loaded 12k front 17k each drive and 17k each trailer axle for those keeping score that makes the tractor 46000 lbs and the trailer is 34000lbs and that is why semi trucks work . U can't do that legally with a standard dually with a 17000lb trailer as efficiently . taking turns too fast or sudden braking makes semi trucks just as unstable so um not understanding your agument. I agree 1000% with the message of the video. Point is know your vehicle no matter what size it is and that is indisputable. Thanks

WRONG, comparing class 8 vehicles to RV's is like comparing apples to oranges.

Over speeding, not having weight distr hitch, not adequate tow truck, not enough distance in front, overweight.

Step 1: Learn how to drive. Step 2: Don't buy shit if you can't follow step 1. Step 3: Pay attention and put your electronic devices away.

Checkout this guy towing a 5th wheel ramming it through a Dairy Queen drive-thru in Yuma AZ! He just backsup again and rams it, again & again, tearing up the RV and drive-thru. See: Stupid RVer Trick: Dairy Queen RV drive-thru disaster

No the problem is that the trailers wheels are in the wrong place, they should be at the rear like semi trailers, all rv trailers are dangerous

In the case of the class of the class A pulling the red pickup, the accident was caused by a front tire blowout. Not that they veered off the road and then blew a tire as you said. The tire blew first then they veered off the road.
@tdavidock
@tdavidock 11 месяцев назад
You are correct- I should have described it as blowing off a tire and then veering off the road. Thanks for clarifying!

what i learned with a lot of accidents i’ve seen is how poorly they’re made. there’s no stereo casing. it’s only a thin piece of fiberglass and thin pieces of wood. it’s wild that rvs are so expensive despite how poorly they’re built!

some models of cars/RVs 4v4 or 4x2 and some 4x2 RXVs are front-wheel drive and front-wheel drive is not a good mix for towing long or heavy trailers
