In Episode 192 of Luv Subbin, we continue our Fall Trip Part I as we travel to Bluestone State Park in West Virginia. Since we are boondocking, we offer some solar and refrigerator tips. Before we do that, we experience a miserable back in and show why we never "fight the site".

We really like our 19 speed transmission, too.

Thanks for watching! I think I said 10 speed. If your truck is 19 speed that is super cool.

We stayed at Alumaplooza 12 that was 6 day event on generator sites. I used solar suit cases loved quite and no fumes. Rally style parking are too close for generators because of flumes. The big rally joke was the Ram B class van which was seen and loaded on semi for Hersey RV show. The Airstream CEO spoke on company status stated no comment till Sept 13 reveal. Everyone laugh on that !

Thanks for watching! We had tickets to Alumapalooza but C's nephew decided to get married on that weekend. Bummer but hopefully we'll get there next year.

We are always boondocking. Mind you, we have a Bambi 16. When we visited our property in Nova Scotia, we did 11 days running from our solar and 2 flooded batteries, we also have a Jackery that makes life much easier. We don't carry our generator, we never used it camping. We had access to fresh water at a neighbour's, and we went a couple of times to refill our jerrycan. After 11 days, we went to a national park, emptied our black tank and did another week or so at our property. We are mainly, for now, weekend campers and we enjoy being away from bigger rigs. I always leave home with the fresh water tank full, we had a couple of times that there was no water at the provincial parks where we stayed. We might be small, but we are mighty!

We have a 26' RBT, currently from Ontario but bought a house in Salmon River/Truro for when we retire early 2025, looking forward to some good camping in NS!

Thanks for watching and the interesting comments on boondocking. It is true that the only limitation to boondocking time is the capacity of the holding tanks!

Question when using Anderson leveler what should I put underneath it when it swampy. TriedLegos and a 2x8 piece of wood and Snap it. It took us an hour to get level.

Thanks for watching! Like you say, the only way to not sink down would be to increase the surface area with a bigger piece of wood, maybe something square. We've actually never had that problem...

Where do you get that shade for the awning?
@LuvSubbin
@LuvSubbin Год назад
Thanks for watching! We purchased the shade direct from Zip Dee at the Airstream International Rally. I'm sure you can order it from them. It's super easy to install (we have a video on how to do it - just search our channel).

I didn't mention it in my earlier comment. If you're looking to increase your solar. I added a 100 watt Harbor freight panel to my 100 watt Renogy suitcase. Wired it into the renogy controller. The setup works great and saved some bucks. Just made sure the amperage and voltage input didn't exceed the spec on the controller. The HF panel even came with legs for angling toward the sun.

That needs a video.
@joed8694
@joed8694 2 года назад
@@shekharmoona544 easy to do. Just add an SAE connector to the inputs on the controller and plug in the HF panel using it's connector. You may need to get an additional 16 guage SAE extension (about 12 ft) so you can position the additional panel. Just be mindful of the polarity of the extension cable.

Thanks for watching and for the great idea. Right now we're happy with our 140 watts but will consider such a solution if ever we need to upgrade.

Sorry I missed your video yesterday because I was boondocking. I need to invest in the solar suitcase. My dog did not like the noises of the owls hooting last night. I love the outdoor open showers. Safe travels!

We love boon-docking but we are always aware of mice, so keeping things open like your frig access door is not our choice
@LuvSubbin

Thanks for watching! Good point on keeping mice out. I'll have to think on that...

We were at Standing Indian State Park and got 4 mice, Mama and 3 babies in the camper. It was a nightmare! My wife had me drive 24 miles to get traps. I got 18 traps for a 19’ Bambi. It looked like the kitchen in the movie “Mouse Hunt” 😂

Is "Bird Crap" a technical term? Will add Bluestone to my next years adventure list. Thanks

Air Dropped Avian Feces (A.D.A.F) is the technical term I believe.

I hate open air restrooms. The ones in Texas have signs to watch for rattle snakes. I literally just peed outside instead of walking in some of them.

Very true. I'm sure West Virginia has cold enough mornings to make that toilet seat about as uncomfortable as a snake...

How do you secure your solar suitcase while you are away?
@LuvSubbin
@LuvSubbin 2 года назад
Sorry for the delay in responses - we have not had great connectivity. We have a long plastic coated wire dog leash. It's probably 25' long so we loop it around the frame and padlock the ends.

How do you ground your generator when traveling?
@LuvSubbin
@LuvSubbin 2 года назад
Thanks for watching! We do not ground our generator as I don't think they're designed for that. I've heard of people attempting it but I don't.
