Thank you, thank you, thank you! My husband and I have been on visible for a year now and paid the higher payment just because we couldn't find two more people to join our party. We love Visible. We did the reddit pay and got the bill cut down to $25 each. Thank you! We didn't know we could do this. It has helped out so much! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
How do you get into a group? Even at $40/month, i am saving $60/month just on internet and $13 on cell! Does it slow your service to be in a group. Why do they do groups?
@@TheLakingc it does not slow service down. I'm not sure why they do groups except for them getting more money (like we were paying) for only two people in the group. Go to your visible account and click in reddit groups. It's where the payment is every month. You have to click out of the current group you might be in and add to another group. They don't see your payments or anything like that and they can't make changes to your specific account.
Been on visible since the beginning. Remember that you are using a deprioritized service and it is NOT the same service as Verizon. Visible doesn't roam like Verizon. So the coverage is less. Also depending on your phone, you may be limited to a single device on the hotspot. There also is a limit on how fast the hotspot will work with all devices (between 5-10 Mbps) Stay safe!
Thank you, Bill & Livvi, good to know! We found our service faster with Visible than with Verizon. Maybe that was the new phones. We are very pleased and it's great to be saving $110 a month. Bye bye Verizon!
Wonderful information. I am about to quit my job, sell my home and move into my trailer full time. Tired of gas prices always going up. Regular unleaded just went up to $4.65 here in colorado.
RU-vidrs RV Miles use Star Link for RVS & like it, but like you said it doesn’t like trees. Y’all said that when raining it doesn’t work good neither do I work good in the rain lol. Star Link, like everything else has good & bad. We’re glad that you have internet so we can see you. Love your ending 😂😂, Paul I think that Paul Bunion used an axe not a hatchet to chop down trees lol. Y’all have a blessed day today from one of your Texas viewers. Keep’m coming humor & all
Another option is T-Mobile home internet for $50/month unlimited. This is an internet only no phones product. We use it at the house along with a DSL connection in hopes that one will work (kinda rural). They recently opened it up to mobile use, probably in response to the Starlink mobile. We are 8 miles from the cell tower and a few hundred feet above it getting speeds from 5-15MBps down. People in more urban areas get 500+ down. I think Verizon has a similar service available.
I live in rural Oklahoma we have satalitte internet here for awhile and everything you said is correct. But it's all we can get here. So we live with it
Yes! People do that. Paul is worried about wind getting it. We typically do not know the area so do not know if it is known for rogue winds. We have it on the roof or in a clearing. And it would be good to have on a flagpole sometimes as well. Thanks!
Hilarious ending! I guess every time you leave the trailer, you have to bring Starlink inside if you don’t want it ripped off. Also, I would hope heavy rain wouldn’t damage it.
Thanks Cecilia. No worries about anyone stealing it as it is worthless without the router and the rest of it. They'd have to cut the cord and it's a proprietary connector. I think it would be fine in heavy rain, ours has already had three days of that. Definitely not hail proof though.
Thanks for the tips We will be investigating Star Link...thanks for the tips. We live in Canada and will be down south for 6 to 8 months of the year and our carrier up here has told us to just purchase a US plan cause they can't come close with roaming charges and data usage. Need a phone , tv and social media to survive most time RV life.
Hi Guys and greetings from Pocatello, ID. I got a Starlink for RVs also a few days ago. Works great Did not know about the issue with rain. Good info, thanks and safe travels.
Thank you for your Tube. I love visible, though slow where i live. Some weekends and windy cloudly weather days are nearly impossible times, and i have to search for spots that work in my home as the day goes on, but, i live at the bottom of a canyon and in a forested area, so feel very blessed. It is good enough for me. If i can get RU-vid, i am happy. I do not know why, but i have to go to Wal-Mart to get my phone updated. I use my tablet off of the phone and it updates fine...slow, but it gets there, but the phone itself will not update from the data connection. I was told by a tuber to get a rav router, but i have never needed it and could never figure out how to connect it to the phone! Still in the box somewhere. Also i got a thing and app to monitor my rv temp, but could not get it to work, either, so am missing some tech know-how. I like to watch some streams on my tv, but it keeps dropping the tv...do not understand that issue either. I used to be so tech savy, but not anymore. No one where i live knows how to do anything techy, not even the techs!😄 so i get by. I had hoped to form a Visible group, but no one believed me...just like me, thought it must be a scam! I wish i could join one. Does it slow reception? I do not get why a group? I am saving $40 month just on internet with it as is! I have had it a year. I paid $12.90/month for track phone but could not get internet on it where i live...nor the phone. It was only for outings. If we RVed, i had to spend another $30-$60/ month for internet (data) because i use it so much. So, Visible was a God-send. I put the savings into bills, paid them off and now into my savings account! Thanks for the update.
Sounds like you are in a challenging area. Yes, you can just join the Reddit group, you don't need to create your own. It's something Visible asks you to do to save money. I guess they think it creates more interest in getting your friends to sign up. But you can just join an existing group. It's really about checking a box, that's all you need to do. Glad you are saving $!
Thank you so much for all the great information. Will look more into Vision since that is something we never considered. Safe travels. We enjoy your videos and look forward to seeing more of them.
We found good service in Seaside, OR but not much in Pacific City or Florence. We do love the whole state and can't wait to get back and do more exploring. Thanks for your comment!
so my wife & i r not far from being able to full time. And our camp was great but the conversation got the logistics of full time issues. we , my wife, asked how do you handle tags and such when on the road etc ??? can you share on that ?? and any other such items you know of ??? thanks for your insights & honest experiances !!

Thanks guys! We will definitely look into Visible. We have our phones and an iPad on Verizon and an iPad on AT&T. Plus we also have Spectrum internet at home. It cost a small fortune every month. How would I know how to live amazing without internet?
Well Paul certainly can’t. He dropped his new phoe in Niagara Falls the other day, he was impossible to live with until he got a new one. We did, however, have a fabulous time on the maid of the mist and went over to the Skylon tower. It was all good.
Suggestion to save your cable on the ground - use small flags like are used to mark underground utility cable locations for diggers. We have never heard of visible - sounds interesting.
That’s a great tip, thank you! We do have those pop-up safety cones so we use them a couple times. Yeah, do some research on Visible, it might be the answer for you. Thanks for watching and checking in!
Regarding the location of the receiver. I wonder if the reception would be better if there was a pole mount system that could elevate the receiver high up even with the roof line. A system that could be broke down and easily re attached. Just a thought.
Great idea, Stephen and we know people who have done exactly that, mount it to a flagpole. We worry about a rogue wind catching the dish, but we may end up doing that in some places. For now, it's working fine. Thanks for watching!
We also have Visible and an AT&T hotspot. They work ok but no way can you upload a video using them on the road. How do you do it. Great videos guys. Really enjoy your channel
Hi there! We have no issues uploading with Visible, but it's slower by a lot than Starlink. I usually just do it for overnight on Visible if I'm not using Starlink. Thanks for watching.
Yes! We show it on the roof in the thumbnail (it's hard to see but is where the arrow is pointing). We are often under trees so we love having the option of either putting it on the roof or taking it out to a clearing. Thanks, Steve!

Thanks for the video…we tried Nomad and had a poor experience. I am thinking about starlink but probably will wait a little longer. Currently using mifi with Verizon.
The thing about nomad is they are poorly named. It is actually not for people who travel. It is set up for people who live in remote areas. As you probably figured out, you have to choose a carrier and you actually cannot bounce between carriers on nomad. We’ve heard lots of bad things about them. We just got rid of our Verizon and both of our MiFis.
This came at a great time. I am trying to figure out yet another solution. About the time you think you have everything in place, something decides it's not not going to work right! Ugh!
Liz would you be so kind and give us an update on starlink in 4 -6 months. Or after you have been to about 4 or 5 different locations. I'm sure with this gas/diesel problem you are staying in one place for longer periods of time. I heard starlink works great in some areas but not in most. I have watched other RU-vid channels that say it's a good option but you need other back up plans.
Yes. That's what we say in the video. Starlink is a great option but not the only option. So far we have used it in five locations in VA, PA, NY and OH. Places that are very wooded means the service drops out more often. This is generally not a problem for email or watching a movie or RU-vid. If you are on a Zoom call, livestreaming, or gaming, it would definitely be a problem. If you are out in the desert, it's an easy choice. Less so in wooded areas. And we may very well do an update, thanks Patricia!
I have Verizon and have been with them for many years. I have my cell phone, my iPad and my MiFi through them and my bill is $129 a month for three lines. All are unlimited. Granted I don’t do a lot of uploading I do a occasional RU-vid on my channel which never has been a problem to upload. I am just not sold on the Starlink yet if you’re full time RVing chances are you’re not gonna always have a clear sky I know I have run into that issue with my dish satellite. The cost is also a little bit pricey. Quite honestly I have never had a problem with connectivity through Verizon like I did with AT&T and Sprint and I have traveled all over the United States. It’s always good that there are options out there for people and if you find some thing that works for you that’s what it’s all about. Thank you for the video and for sharing the information with us.👍❤️
Thank you! Yes, we've been very pleased with Verizon all these years. Visible is the same service, only way cheaper. I agree that Starlink is not the answer for everyone. For us, it is one of three options. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Good info, but we are not full time RV currently and we have been able to live with one carrier. If we can’t get internet we have plenty of options for entertainment. If we are not biking, hiking or kayaking my wife is normally making quilts and I read my books online. I use Plex as my in RV movie steamer as all of my videos are on my server and I record a lot of shoes when I have TV signal and can watch them when we don’t have any over the air signal. We do have an unlimited plan on our phones but also have an AT&T plan for Wi-Fi in my truck so we use it to update our phones when we travel and stay in touch while traveling it’s only 20.00 a month for unlimited, we don’t want to run the truck to get internet that would be silly so we use our personal phones as hot spots in the RV over our router and this provides signal to all our devices over our internal Wi-Fi but only when we have signal on the phones. Probably will look into Starlink once we go full time if we do.
Yes, that truck AT&T hotspot is great. Glad to hear that you can get by without Internet. I think Paul is good for two hours max, lol. Looking forward to seeing you out here once you go fulltime. Thanks for your comment!
@@LizAmazing we are heading to the bighorn mountains starting this month, slow pace. Have a backpacking trip planned for a few days in the back country
Good Morning- Verizon just doubled my rates due to a Admin and Telco Recovery charge. This charge is being paid to Federal Communications Commission for admin charges to improve the mobile communication in the country. Has there been any increase to your Visible account?
They are the same. We recently learned that at this time, Visible does not offer roaming. It has only affected us in Door County Wisconsin in the nearly four months we've had the service. In that time we have used Visible in Virginia, Maryland, DC, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan.
Interesting...I've never heard of Visible?? I think it's been invisible!! ;) Good video, we've been considering Starlink, still researching it. We just switched from ATT to T-Mobile senior plan. We have had good service with TMobile, so far we've been using it about 5 mos. (unlimited hotspot) .... It's probably not good enough for ppl working on the road but if you are retired and just need a hot spot for internet and to connect to your smart tv & apps, it's working good for us so far. We travel full time.
Yes, glad you have T-Mobile. It really is good for the basic Internet stuff. And Visible needs to be more visible!! Thanks for commenting and checking in.
Liz I am looking at upgrading my phone and or service. I have a 6Splus. I don’t full time rv so don’t need the Starlink right now but will check into Visible. Thanks for the info. I love y’all and all the helpful tips you provide. God bless y’all.
You got it! It really likes wide open sky. Otherwise it will drop maybe every 40 seconds or every few minutes. Depending. So it’s not great for constant streaming like zoom or a live stream. But it’s totally fine for things that buffer like watching a movie.
Exactly! If we are parked under trees like we were, we need to place the dish in an open area. At our current campground, we have the dish on the roof. Works great.
We started Starlink last month. It is surprisingly cheaper than what we had before with a huge return on our investment in the form of WAY fast and reliable internet. Thank you for sharing this information.
So.. Starlink just decided to rid themselves of their RV clientele. Just this morning.. Starlink announced a $15 per month increase for RV users, that's $150 per month !! They also stated that current customers can return their equipment within 30 days for a full refund.. which is no doubt what I will be doing. It was already pricey! Pretty sure that they regret having created a segment for the traveler's, perhaps making it difficult to manage loads in urban areas?
I saw that, too! At first it was $110, then $135 and now $150. AND Starlink severely throttles speeds from 6-10 each night. I've just paused my service while I'm testing alternatives. Stay tuned.
We hear good things. Right now we are $25 a month with Visible and we can't beat that savings. If that ever changes we will be looking at T-Mobile for sure. Thanks for your comment!
As long as you have an unobstructed sky, it works great. And very fast. Since we travel we need back up options in case of trees or heavy rain. So we like our AT&T and Visible as back ups.
@@LizAmazing yes, mine usually is great. We are going to watch all of the Queen's pageantry RU-vids later on on the TV so my son can see it all. He has Downs and we watched a little on the tablet last night. Out TV is not as sharp a picture, though. I bought it when we had to switch to HD. I had no idea how to pick it out. I wonder at times if it is HD at all! Nothing like the store pictures. Anyhow, we can send it to the TV but it pauses at times. No big deal, really. Such a great thing technology, at least for now.
There are a couple RU-vid videos of people who have had this for a month or two and there are quite a few issues even with just a few trees in your camping area obstructing the star link. You may want to give it a few more weeks before you endorse that product.
Starlink does work incredibly well when used as intended, ie in an open space without obstructions. Starlink is very transparent about this and their app gives a camera view so you can ensure the dish has a clear view of the sky. Some people put their dish up high on a poll to help get a clearer view. It works well for boondockers in open spaces but obviously not a good choice for certain campgrounds that have a reasonable number of trees.
I live at the bottom of a canyon in a forested area. No other cell worked here. But this does, but i chase a connection at different times of the day or in bad weather. If a farmer hits a cable, there are no phones and businesses close down! No 911, either. That happened again last week for 2 days! We had no landline , either. When you live remotely, that can be a bit scary. And if the power goes out, no cell. But...it is rarely that we do not have it. Sundays sometimes it is frustrating, but we just watch TV (Dish) and later we can watch our Church service. We want go go full-time but the good Lord is not allowing it yet. Someday...can't wait!
It’s important to know that Visible and other Verizon white label services do have limits. Visible’s Hotspot operates at a slower speed than Verizon’s, and Visible reserves the right to throttle back your speed if the Verizon network is congested. In other words, Verizon gives 1st preference to its’ customers. In short, you do save a lot of money, but beware that you may have reduce service. I found that out the hard way after switching from Verizon to Xfinity Mobile (Comcast) and had speed issues with the Hotspot. I turned around and went back to Verizon since that was an important feature.
@@LizAmazing same here. I do have big slow downs, now i know why. Sundays, holidays, at times during the Depp/heard trial, i was frustrated trying to find a spot, but when that happens, i just do something else and come back later. Sometimes one or 2 restarts fix it, and greatly lowering the quality will work. At night if i can't sleep, i turn on a soft spoken sermon at the lowest quality and fall right to sleep! It is about the same as HughesNet i paid $99/month for! Visible is a lot better at times than HN was, though they insisted i was getting very high whatever it is called. Seems like they said 50 and Visible varies around 20...but Visible is more dependable..,go figure!
Hi Mike! Every Wineguard I know of has just been for TV, the TV antenna. I have found it to not be that great. I've seen where people use Hughes Satellite and other services for TV. I am not a TV watcher so I don't have direct experience with that, I do stream from my phone to the TV when watching RU-vid. For that, I use Starlink and it's been great, as long as Starlink has a clear view of the sky. Thanks for asking!
Visible is $40 a month, $25 a month once you join a group (really all you do is check a box). Your first month is $5 if you use our link. Starlink is $110 a month if you are stationary, $135 a month if you want Portability (roaming). Thanks, Kim!
Ok, so you're saving $110/mo on the Verizon plan, but you're taking on a new $135/mo plan, plus the one-time $600 equipment fee, for the Starlink. So your net payment has increased by $25, right? But in return you're getting faster internet when the weather permits.
@@LizAmazing Only mean to be technically accurate - it's important. Specifically, at "chapter 5" "how fast is..." ~2:36 - the display says Mbps (megabits), verbally is incorrectly stated megabytes. 'MPS' is not a recognized term/acronym/abbreviation in data technology, throughput, speed, etc. Appreciate that you're sharing your experiences and options for all to save and enjoy - just don't want anyone calling Starlink complaining they are under-served when not. Thanks.
Thank you for the great information! I have service through Travel Data, the Wi-Fi router can be powered off a 12VDC adapter or 120VAC, fits in my hand and I am getting 8mbps for $81/month and am very pleased. Don’t forget Eastern Oregon, we are conservative and fewer trees.😉
Hi Melissa. Good to know about Travel Data, hadn't heard of it, nice! And, oh yeah, I remember when I came across the US a few years ago seeing the eastern side, LOL, that's the more conservative side! :)
We use to have AT&T and Verizon for each of our phones with T-Mobile for our MIFI. After a year of FT traveling, we found T-Mobile was the most reliable and provides the best plan at the lowest price. We changed phones to T-Mobile, too. Lowered our cell and mifi bill by $60...plus we got new phones. Visual sounds like a good back up though.
Hi you two! That's good to know about T-Mobile, that's one carrier we haven't tried but we have heard good things. So far we are very pleased with Visible, but if that changes I guess we'd be looking at T-Mobile. Happy and save travels to you both!
@@LizAmazing LOL..the last line about the tree and the internet sounded like an old Seinfeld line. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DRaLpHoZA8E.html
I have t mobile at our age with two phones our payment is $70 including tax. Unlimited everything. We just got our phones paid off so have to see how much the bill will be next month. Our phones are 4g so don't know about 5 g Wondering if a Verizon store would know about visible? Enjoy your videos and all the info you share. Can't have too much knowledge now days.
Yes, Verizon does know about Visible. You can get an unlocked phone from Verizon (or Best Buy) or have Visible overnight you a phone. As long as you get a phone that is eSim compatible, you can get it anywhere.
@@LizAmazing I have found t mobile to be slow at loading things sometimes. Probably be faster if our phones had 5 g. Our phones are both moto g 7 power. Had them for two years so probably due new ones. I might see what kind of a deal t mobile might give us also. Shopping for phones is about as exciting as a kid in a candy store. ( Not) lol
I looked it up and the robot chat said the new plans are better value. On Monday I will contact them to see what the difference in the plans are and I'll keep you posted.
Canada is a little simpler but you should compare the connectivity in China just to compare that with North America. Annoyed or what. .. Cheers to you ..
@@LizAmazing China's access to communications is incredible. I just read about it today, in fact, because I was thinking about it. Canada arrested Meng Wanzhou, a senior executive of Huawei. With the US and other Five Eyes countries, Canada banned Huawei's 5G equipment. As a result, these countries do not have permission to use any of Huawei's patents in any telecommunications equipment which includes companies, such as Ericsson, which have these patents in their products. Thus, there is no 5G in North America despite what is claimed. Anyways, I discovered that prices for cell phones and internet usage is ridiculously CHEAP and is accessible anywhere in China including mountainous and sparsely-populated areas. This is part of the plan for the people to have the ability to make money and support themselves (poverty alleviation). Communications and access to it enables people anywhere in China to sell their goods and products on the internet and send them off. Check out Katherines_journey_to_the_far_east on RU-vid. She really travels to far-off places in China and think about her access to the internet. .. Cheers to you ..
Yes! Good point, Charlotte. Some people also mount the dish on a flagpole. We would worry about high winds. At newest location, we have the Starlink dish on the roof. It seems fine there and we are getting speeds over 100 mps- yay! Thanks for watching, Charlotte!
Hi guys, new zealand calling. Hope your both well, here we are having a good week for a change, and after a wee frost, it's sunny and 20c in winter ha. It's good and sad about technology, we can get signals just about anywhere these days, but seem to spend less time actually giving friends a hug. Ironically I use the internet for various things, iam not a laptop hugger ha, and spend my evenings on ham radio talking to people all over the world using morse code, and my mobile phone is that old, it runs on gas ha ha. Tv is not our favorite thing, a walk to the beach or looking at the night sky is more fun than watching TV. Anyways, take care and tree vs the satellite sig, c,mon Paul, tree evetytime ha ha. Love to you both, brian and barbs x
Hello you two lovebirds! So nice that you have the beach, and you have your priorities right with connecting in person, when possible. We have noticed things opening back up here so more campers are socializing. It’s not like 2019, but still much better than it’s been. Hugs!
@@LizAmazing youtube is also great cause you can ajust the quality by how much data. i use just 360. amazon, netflix, will use up at least 1.5 gigs to watch a movie. i definitly understand pauls "addiction" smile
Liz, Paul. With Cindy being currently in Arkansas and traveling to Florida. Her phone was not working part of the time so I have been looking at phones with multiple sim cards that can be set up with two different carriers currently we have TMobile. So I found out that the iphone 12 can accept two sim cards. So we are looking at setting her phone up with Verizon and T-Mobile also I am considered a first responder so we have priority over other callers. Basically she will get the new phone (iPhone 12 pro) and I will stay with the android. I hate iphones! Will leave out tablets with T-Mobile. And if needed we can hotspot them off her phone. The next big issue is computers. So looking into a mifi multiple router with two sims. I see the biggest issue with starlink is the dish size that's why it has issues with trees and rain. The big KUband dishes used to get slammed by snow. So I see the future of someone taking the dish apart and putting the guts on a bigger dish for better reception. Such as a dish the size of direct TV . The bigger the disk the better you see the satalight. Safe travels and roads Brian and Cindy, "xtreambydesign with passion"
Hi you two! That is a fabulous point about the bigger the dish the better. And wow, that’s a lot of things to consider when it comes to phone service. Hope it all works. Thanks for being here.
We are hitting the road June 27th, We have had Starlink ($135/mo, Home with roaming) a couple months now, pretty much just monitoring out Victron where we store our rig for now, we also got a Tmobile unlimited Hotspot through the Calyx Institute $750 first year ($250 for the hotspot+$500/year) then $500/year (works out to $41.66/mo paid yearly) after that and partly tax deductible if you cant for your business. The we have Cricket (AT&T) for our cell phones $100/mo for 4 Phones and can turn hotspot data on and off as needed $10/mo for 15gb of data, or I can switch to a plan for $130/mo and each phone gets 15 gb/mo of hotspot, but I dont think I will ever need that. Oh and great wifi calling if needed, so if AT&T desnt work bu the hotspot or starlink does, we can always still make calls.
Sounds like you are prepared, Scott! You definitely need more than one option. I bet you are counting the days until you hit the road. It will be here before you know it. See you out here!!
@@LizAmazing Thanks! yea its almost difficult as we are excessively preparing, and we know a lot of it we can throw out the window after about 6 months and will change to what works for us in reality. Im pretty confident out Internet is gona be pretty good, its needed for our son's online tech school, and our daughters on line summer classes before she start College in August. Hope to see you on the road!
