Great RV and excellent pros and cons. We love our Class A we have been gradually doing longer and longer trips and travel a longer portion of the year. We look forward to being full time but will always have a home base for many reasons . Number one you never know when you will really need it and at some point in life we will and the homes and probably interest will only go up. Always good to buy and be debt free! Great video to share new subscribers and wishing you all the best!

This is one of the most honest videos about rving I have seen. We part time RV in a motorhome and I agree with everything they are saying. I also thought it would be inexpensive and very flexible. Ha. Not the case. We have to plan 12 to 18 months in advance which is difficult but we still enjoy it.

Thanks for the feedback! It’s crazy how far in advance we have to plan our trips. Some places we try to book a year in advance and they’re already fully booked up. Makes it difficult for sure!

My husband and I even during Covid had no issues reserving campsites at the last minute. We still don’t have any issues. We use multiple campgrounds and HH. Now, if you’re looking for an upscale, ritzy place, that may be the case but I do not book way out in advance to reserve anything haven’t had any issues in five years. Enjoyed the video.

1. Have your friend mail your mail, taxes, etc. 2. If you need a doctor often use urgent care (check insurance coverage) ER has Fast Track which is similar to an Urgent Care. 3. Repairs are happening more and more because the RVs are made much cheaper these days. 4. Face time works great for staying in touch. Circle back once a year and invite all close friends and family. Another idea would pick a place every six months and have a join up. 5. Planning and being organized helps a bunch. Larger RVs are harder to find places to stay because they are just too big. Most people try to hold on to more items then they need, it's just stuff. My rule is if you don't use it within 6 months, you don't need it. Separation is needed that when you take the car and go shopping by yourself, take the dogs on a walk. Just because you live in an RV does not mean you have to do everything together all the time. You don't do that when you have a home. Find hobbies to do separate. 6. Question for you, once you have seen all of the US. What is your next plans? Will you use some of those miles to travel, will you buy a home again? I agree either sell the house or rent it out if that works in your plans. Maybe do that for a year to see if you like raving without giving up your home. Thank you for the video. Be safe out there and enjoy the adventures and memories.

Great comments and tips 🙏 To answer your question, we’re thinking in the next few years (once we’ve traveled most the US) shifting into boat life. We love being in the water and think it would be another amazing adventure. Would love to start with the Great Loop then maybe South America. But the problem is the cost of boating is way more than RVing. So we’ll see but we don’t have any plans of stopping traveling anytime soon 😍

Thank you for sharing your insights and experiences with RV living! It's important to consider all the practical aspects, like managing mail and healthcare. And I completely agree that planning, organization, and finding separate hobbies can greatly enhance the RV lifestyle. As for exploring the US, once you've seen it all, you can still benefit from the convenience and versatility of the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series. Its massive capacity, fast recharging, and comprehensive protections make it an excellent choice for powering your devices and appliances on your outdoor adventures. Stay safe and enjoy your RV travels!

Single female RVr. Downsized from 2400sf to a van! Had no problem tossing "stuff". Lived in one room for almost a yr to get used to enclosed space while camping once a month to get used to the van. I am happy happy happy. The stress I had from my stickNbricks house is finally gone. I have zero regrets. It is definitely more affordable than my house was. I absolutely love life again. I don't have to cook constantly, clean constantly and minimal clothing.

Can I get your e mail ? I am getting ready to do this and have no one to ask random questions and could really use just a contact of someone who’s doing it. Or phone number but I didn’t want to sound creepy lol. I’m nervous about how to find places to park and how that works as I’m not a planner. Are there free places ? The ones I’ve seen are expensive.

Great video, I agree with a lot of your pro, and cons. We what to travel more, but don’t want to sell our house. Simply because if we get to a point where we can’t rv any more we have a place to go to. Our youngest son will live at home while we are gone, plus he pays the mortgage while we are away! And my wife is still working and can do her job remotely with our star link. I’m retired, so I stay busy cleaning the motorhome or walking the dog, or cooking dinner. But the biggest thing I love about traveling in our motorhome is it’s our home away from home, my bed, my bathroom, my shower, etc. hard to put on price on that , plus the people you meet and the experiences.

I live in an RV and I do so full-time. I think many people like the lifestyle but there are challenges. I think for those who want some kind of permanency, there's always the purchase of land or the purchase of some of these places where you can buy lots and as long as you have some kind of a place to reside full-time. If you decide not do any traveling, you still enjoy all the perks associated with the convenience of the lifestyle and it's familiarity because it's your home. I like the idea that in the event that there's catastrophic issues, most people can't move their homes but you can take up and leave.

Just watched MJ & Izzy’s video which brought me to your channel. True statement, you cannot buy time….We are in our early sixties and part time RVers. Full time RVing seems to me is more adventurous, plan for the unplanned kind of scenario. For some it could also be out of financial reason not be able or not want to have a stick & bricks house and an expensive Class A or 5th wheel with all the maintenance, insurance etc. All your top Pros & Cons are spot on. Enjoy being on the road, safe travels!

We love RVing but we still have a home too. We just came back from an RV trip and had an engine light come on 50 miles from home. Thankfully we were able to make it home but now my husband has to trouble shoot what might be wrong. If it is something we can't fix it will be a trip to the mechanic and our RV is a 2017 and not under warranty. THIS IS THE PART OF RVING I DON'T LIKE! We have a 45 ft RV too and camping is getting expensive. We just came back from St Augustine, FL and I was lucky to find a campground for $ 60 a night. All of the other campgrounds in the area were over $100 a night. We are members of Good Sam, AAA, and my hubby is retired military so we almost always get 10% off campgrounds which helps. We keep our motorhome at an RV Resort in Florida which has a port and small executive suite.

Watched my and Izzy and referred to you. Interesting points. We’ve been part timing since the early 90’s and we’ve always had motorhomes . Our latest is two years old and we’ve been retired for a bit over two years now. We stay out a lot longer now but we keep our house with intent to sell and move south and find something with a acre or so of ground so we can have a building put up to keep the coach in. We talked full time but we was leaning on how MJ and Izzy roll. We are in our mid sixties and healthy and had we the availability at your age we would have full timed beyond reasonable doubt. Good video you put out.

Yeah and 5 years ago this lifestyle wouldn’t have been possible for us. But the pandemic changed everything for us. Our jobs were fully office based and then went 100% remote. With new options like Starlink, it enabled us to make the switch and still be able to work from the road. We contemplated buying property somewhere that we can keep the RV and have some additional space. Might be something we do once we decide on a location!

I live full-time in a 40 foot Monaco dynasty and my lifestyle is very expensive per se. I may hit an RV park for a short time once or twice in a year as I have set up my motorhome to dry camp. I am currently in Quartzsite on BLM land with a bunch of friends and I have been here since 5 November and have not started my generator yet because of solar and lithium batteries. About your breakdown, I would’ve thought with a side radiator that you would have a hydraulic motor, driving your fan and not have a clutch on it at all as mine is. I guess designs have changed over the years. As far as breakdowns, they are always going to happen. There’s always going to be something you need to fix especially with our lovely, smooth roads. L O L all of your pluses are right on the mark. I have been following you guys since you were in your super C and as I guessed when you got your class say that you would enjoy it more. Thank you both for the video. Have a blessed and very Merry Christmas.

That’s amazing you’ve been on BLM land for that long! We desperately need lithium batteries in our new coach. We added them in our super C, but our new one didn’t have them unfortunately. Current batteries barely last 18 hours. We have a harder time dry camping mostly due to work. Have to be in close proximity to an airport and other amenities typically. Merry Christmas to you as well 🎄

All summer I was either on BLM land Idaho forest land or Idaho trust land as I spent almost all summer in Idaho. It’s amazing what a little bit of solar and lithium batteries will do. Great question! Agree with you that it’s hard to stop off at places because of parking and finding the places we can stay is more difficult. Because we’re working from the road and living in it full time, still think we’d go with a 45ft motorhome because of the space and amenities. If we were part time, would likely do 35 ft or under to make it easier for travel 😀

We're doing our homework preparing to go full-time. I work remotely, she is retired. Looking at 45' RV's - and expecting the size will come with challenges/limitations. But was surprised to hear you need to book 6-12 months in advance for sites. I'm a planner by nature - so that wouldn't be a deal killer. I was assuming ~3 months. But can you explain why you have found the need to book that far in advance? Merry Christmas - and thanks for sharing your story.
@fuelyourwander
@fuelyourwander 4 месяца назад
It’s mostly for the places in high demand during peak season. For example, Florida Keys in the winter - be prepared to book a year in advance. Yellowstone in the summer, book the day they open the bookings for the next year or you won’t get a spot. Limited parks and even more limited spaces for a 45 ft rig. But there’s plenty of other places we can book with less planning if they’re not in high demand. Hope that helps! Merry Christmas to you and your family ❤️

My wife and I will start our full time journey in the spring of 25. We are leaning towards an American Coach. American Dream 42q in particular. I heard that you have broken down twice. How do you feel about the overall quality of your coach?
@fuelyourwander
@fuelyourwander 4 месяца назад
That’s so exciting! The 42Q is a great option. We loved that floor plan and nice that it’s slightly shorter than 45 ft rigs. Our issues were related to the Freightliner (FCCC) chassis. There was a part installed incorrectly from the FCCC factory. That caused the first breakdown issue we had. Second was one of the parts that had been replaced the first time just randomly failed. They were both relatively simple fixes, but getting parts can be a challenge. Both American Coach and FCCC stepped up and helped us through everything quickly. Our warranty covered it all 100% thankfully. No upfront costs for us. Other than those issues, we’ve been very happy with the quality and amenities of our coach. Good luck with your search for an RV! Let us know if we can help get you in touch with an expert at AC who can answer any questions you might have! Merry Christmas 🎄

@@fuelyourwander thank you for the reply. We will be headed to the Tampa show in a couple of weeks. I would like to meet with Tom Bennett from General. We are older and I don’t want to have to escape through a window. lol Tiffin makes the 45fp that also has the door and I believe that Newmar also has a couple of floor plans. Thanks for the response and we hope you have a great New Year.

What I mean is people never think about the added cost like mortgage interest, HOA, PMI, Property Taxes, etc, etc 2) never think about opportunity cost of home ownership (like putting money in S&P500, for example)

My family all have to have that me time alone. A tent outside with tv and a bed to just vibe alone is a good idea. Also someone can be in living room whit the other person can be in the bedroom with door closed and just be alone for the entire day is healthy as well. Both of you seem very uncomfortable at expressing needing that me time. There is no reason to feel offended or be in your feeling’s. Everyone need that me time to be silent and not disrupt the other person’s peace. Hang out with some people you guys meet at a camp or wherever you go . Hang out with your own gender to have that quality time with others. Being social is healthy.

The obvious question is, do either of you work? How do you manage your costs? Even I could detail many of the costs.
@fuelyourwander

We both work full time. The costs are similar, but less than, the costs of a typical home.

I read the average time rv are in repair is 41 days.
@fuelyourwander
@fuelyourwander 4 месяца назад
I believe that is a true statement. However, since the average person only use an RV for 25 days per year, it really doesn’t matter. 😀

Great video but I'm with Endless RVing... full-time is not for us for the reasons you hit upon - plus our chihuahuas did not like going away for over ten days. We also lack the adventure you two have. Driving all day to sit in the forest or hike around a big hole in the earth is not on our bucket list. I think to full-time you must have a sense of adventure. We started camping 30 years ago but gave up in a year because it was boring camping just the two of us. Ten years ago my wife started showing dogs and after a few years wanted me to go along... that required a motorhome to relax in over the 3-5 days of showing because I hated hoteling it. We did dream of full-time doing dog shows but it was too much on us and the dogs traveling more than two weeks. People think we are a little nuts because when we do get out for a non dog show trip - it's less than an hour away. Just don't see the need to drive hours to sit around a campfire...

At first, I thought you were focused solely on giving quality advice to RVers, and I believe you are sharing some good points, but after watching more of your content it became clear what was really going on. Basically, it looks to me that one of you wanted to fulfill this dream but had to convince the other that you could do it by getting someone else to pay for it. My guess is that Hillary is highly trained in marketing, is a great saleswoman, and had a bunch of advertisers lined up before you even hit the road. You sign product deals, create an Amazon store with a bunch of products, throw in all the major social media platforms like RU-vid, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, next thing you know the cash is flowing and life is grand. After you're done putting a lot of cash in your pocket and this RV life gets boring, which it will, you'll likely create a new business venture. Maybe you'll buy a boat, or create a travel channel, then just carry over all the subs from this account and become an overnight expert giving "advice" about what you've learned from your latest travels. Again, all paid for by subscribers, product ads, and an Amazon store.
