When we visited and hiked Pictured Rocks we were in our early 50s. We walked out to the "Log Run" and we both realized the true meaning of "breathtaking". It was a beautiful clear day and the lake was gorgeous!!!

At age 83 and 80, my wife and I, from our home outside Detroit, spent several weeks in the U.P. in 2019 and a week there this past July.... Your vlog re Pictured Rocks... especially the kayak closeups, was extraordinary... reason for any able person to do as you did. Thank you. Please come back and show more of Michigan to your subscribers. We are lucky old people, 20 cruises, trips to the USSR, Russia, China and Egypt... plus many more places.... but for people unable to do that, Michigan can be as rewarding... just take your time, do your research, and enjoy our state. P.S. about 10 vloggers have discovered Michigan this summer... not sure why the sudden interest.

We've been Michiganders all our lives and in the midst of our own travels, we tend to forget all the wicked cool stuff right in our own backyard. Thanks to you both for helping to highlight our state parks and coastlines. We love it here among the Great Lakes. Always fresh, sometimes frozen... Best to you in all your travels.

Beautiful. Yes, the great lakes are cold. Not long enough of summer temps to warm. But if you do swim, you must jump in and out a few times to regulate your body. It is very refreshing on a hot day and good for the body. Cool water in short exposures, releases super fighting white cells that attack free radicals.

With pasties you have to remember that this was food that was made by wives for their husbands working in the copper mines. It had to be something tightly packed, nutritious, and above all that wouldn't fall apart on them while they're eating it. They could not use a knife and fork in a plate. The best they could do was have a shovel. So traditionally they did not eat it with gravy. It is not a pot pie. It is actually much closer to a Scottish meat pie. But with more veggies and a very sturdy crust. Because of this and authentic one is not going to be a culinary delight

When I took my young Hoosier grandchildren to the UP, I only ordered one Pastie and had them order something they would eat. They tried my pastie and devoured their hamburgers. z

Hi Liz and Dennis, greetings from Wales UK. As some have already commented, pasties originate from the tin mines in Cornwall UK. They have been exported all over the world by Cornish tin miners, who emigrated or were poached to take their skills abroad. In Wales we have our own version called an “ oggie”. The traditional pasties have a thick folded crust, this was not to be eaten, this allowed the miners to eat with their dirty hands down the mines, the crust was for holding and throwing away. There are 2 traditional versions, the meat/ veg one and the second has 2 fillings, meat on one half and a fruit filling on the other half , so a miner could have meat and a pudding. Loving your journey stay safe 👍

I don't think even most Michiganders (It's what we call ourselves!) even know the full extent of the U.P. experience. Munising up to Copper Harbor also have epic, world class mountain biking. Search RU-vid. Winters and snowmobiling or rustic skiing at Mt. Bohemia are also big draws. The Keewenaw Peninsula can get over 300-inches annual snowfall.

The outside braided edge of the pasty is for the miners to hold on to because their hands were usually covered in coal dust. They would eat the portion with the filling and toss the braided edge away. We've had them in the UK and Wales. They are so good.

Pasties were brought to the UP by miners from Cornwall , England . They were a filling meal to eat in the mine . Besides the UP , pasties are popular in specific parts of California , Pennsylvania , Montana and Wisconsin . All of these areas had mines at one time and , as in the UP , the were brought over by Cornish miners . I like traditional pasties and the vegetarian ones are not nearly as popular .

Just came across your video. One of our favorite rv road trips was to Michigan's UP. Ate a pasty at Muldoon's, ok, not my favorite meal. I had gravy on mine which made it better. We did the picture rocks and stayed at the Munising rv park and the view of the sunset on the lake was beautiful! One of my favorite eats was the whitefish. Going up to Copper Harbor? Fixing to subscribe to your channel to follow your trip on the UP. Thanks for the memories!

Pasties were developed to send with the deer hunters....clearly a "man' meal.

Omg the best pastie is in Escanaba at Grams! We tried all the Munising ones and were never that impressed. grams has a variety of flavors, we love the breakfast, pizza, and chicken cordon blue!

If you eat meat a Pasty is much more delicious then the review makes it out to be. It's a delicious clean, healthy, fresh meal. Excellent with the gravy. Spice it up with hot sauce
