Check out the Yankum Ropes products here! yankum.com?afmc=CHR
A motorhome got into some soft ground on a gravel bar in the remote part of the Spring Basin Wilderness in eastern Oregon. Since I didn't have pictures to know how bad it was, I loaded the off road recovery Jeep on the back of the 4x4 tow truck, picked up Grumpy, and we headed a couple hours out into the wilderness to find the RV. We used my yellow ‪@MattsOffRoadRecovery‬ rope and red Yankum Rope to put a solid tension on the RV as we winched it out with the tow truck, then the Jeep was brought in to do a kinetic rope recovery and pull it up onto the hard and flat part of the gravel bar. After that, it was able to drive out on its own and back up to the main campground.

I've watched other rescue channels with no names mentioned - Casey's is the best. His video is short and simple and his dialogue is succinct. He doesn't show BS miscellaneous stuff unrelated to the subject of interest. I recently discovered his channel and compared it to other rescue channels. His is the best. I don't want to see adults with scary looking beards eating a burrito or subway sandwhich.

I had a long comment written and deleted it. So I could make a longer one..lol I have watched enough of your vids and Matts Offroad recovery vids to see something that you two share. Matt hated winches and you like them. Your explanation in a different video I watched, was a terrific explanation with you doing recoveries by yourself and the winch gives you great control.. Matt knows how to use that rope, and I suspect now that he is using the winch he is starting to see their benefits in different situations. I think as you get used to the rope and realize how the energy is stored and what it's best methods for use are, you will find situations that will favor the recovery rope. We only had chains with hooks when I was younger. I have always had a winch. I was raised in Oregon, snow and Ice, mud etc. I was always the only vehicle out there it seemed, so a winch made perfect sense. What was I going to do with a recovery rope out on the trail alone. Now in California, where I live near the beach, it's all about sand and it's crowded so you are never really alone. The recovery rope or strap is king on the sand.. I use an ARB recovery snatch strap (that's what they call it) it has a 17.5k rating, but I still have a winch. I like your videos. I watched Matts videos from the start. Your vids are good, and all those trees and snow remind me of home, I am going to have to subscribe. Hope you keep making these videos and remember what made them so watchable in the first place, I will give you a hint, it's not the products you may use it's the story and the scenery and of course You..

Matt's also in wide open spaces with no anchor points and if the wheel gets turned the wrong way no big deal Casey's on alot of narrow roads with cliffs or trees if he gave her hell like Matt 1 wrong rut or turn of the wheel a customer ends up over a cliff or in the trees smashed up instead of just stuck

The owner of the RV did a great job. From the very beginning he explained exactly what the situation was without downplaying it at all like most people do, then when it came time to pull him out he had great throttle control. Gave it enough throttle to get moving, but not so much that he dug himself back into the ground

Not quite sure, but when you are looking at the stark changes from solid to loose rock you're seeing the effects of lava/ volcanism. When lava (flood) basalt cools slowly it turns brittle, weaker and is easily fractured into small pieces and eroded. The solid columns are from very slow cooling. Look into Columbia basin flood basalt- probably was active in your area.

1:20 I've done some tow rope (and tow chain) work. Not a lot, but enough to know what *NOT* to do, and the tow rope/chains I've used are not stretchy, so starting slack and getting a run is defiantly one of the things I've learned *NOT* to do. I know in the ropes you use it's different, but every time I see that, every fiber of my being is going "oh no!" Technology changes how we do things as time moves along. Sometimes watching old training films I'm like, "Really, they actually used to do that?"
