As we continue our trip out West we have some extreme conditions to test out the Gekko Popout Cover. Hybrids travel trailers and popup trailers have their own pros and cons. Some of the cons are temperature extremes seeping through the canvas or intense sunlight turning your bump out into an easybake oven. Can the Gekko alleviate some of the cons and tilt the scale towards the pros?

Thank you for your being so methodical with your testing. You sold me on them, I ordered them before I left a campsite where I was sweating in my popup. You should tell Gekko that you need a commission code.

Last fall they redesigned the gekko’s, specifically made a set for the rockwood Roo/ shamrock. They fit perfectly!! We received ours last September or October don’t remember exactly. We had the set before, they were great but didn’t fit well. They gave us credit for the old ones we purchased and we just had to pay the difference between the two. LOVE LOVE LOVE them.

The gekko cover is fine , but i have a better product. I bought Henrys Solar-Flex White Elatomeric roof coating and painted the canvas pop outs on my rockwood roo. Its mildew and stain resistant. When im in lake havasu its 110 f but in my popout bed its 80f and i dont have to set up the gekko. This stuff is great and adds an extra layer of protection for rain.

Definitely needs a couple of larger clamps and ratchet straps from Harborfreight and it works so much better

I did changed out my clamps. I use these amzn.to/4ctpKyd They work really good, but I think they now come with something similar.

No, you may be able to if you remove your mattresses. Some folks have foam padding or an actual queen that they remove when packing up.

Can you please let me know if they are 100% black out? Does it totally reduce the light coming, which in my opinion is another con of a hybrid camper.

I was wondering if you noticed a drop in humidity or at least condensation when using the Gekkos. My PUGS definitely helped with that, but 1 just tore and needs to be replaced. I'm considering Gekkos. Thanks

Yes. There will be less drip, drip of the ceiling when waking up on those cold morning, but you'll still see a little around the base of the bump outs where the fabric meets the floor.

I see below that you've noticed less condensation, but that there is still some around the edge of the bed. Have you tried any other measures for eliminating condensation such as insulating inside the popouts? Also, have you noticed much dampness or mildew when you pull the Gekkos off?

There's a lot of factors on condensation. How many people, indoor cooking, temperature, using the furnace, using the fireplace, vent fans on or off. The perfect scenario for a 35 degree night with a Gekko would be running the electric fireplace, using bunk heaters, and having a roof vent open. That would be a dry night. We usually pull the Gekko off a few hours before we are packing up to let things dry before packing. If it raining, then the next dry day we open up and lay out the cover.

@@ataleofthreecabins1025 this is such helpful information! I took my new-to-me Intech Explore out for a long weekend of camping. The first night, everything felt pretty damp, but no condensation. So I kick up the vent speed and opened the windows a little more. That did the trick. But i'm going to need to take more measures if I want to use it during the winter, even here in the temperate PNW.

Would be nice if the canvas was made to keep the campers cooler in the summer months and warmer in the winter months. Nice product but seems like a lot of extra work. Also that you didn’t have to remove the extra cover.
