I was a Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer on USS MIDWAY 86-89....you know you are getting old when the ships you served on are museums and the aircraft you flew are on sticks. I also flew the E-2/C-2. Enjoy your content, thanks.

The aircraft I worked on 52 years ago are still fling as is the ones I worked on when I retired 36 1/2 years ago. But they can't land on a carrier. To big as in a C-5 and the B-52H. Thanks for your service Sir.

We lived in SD for about 4 years before we had kids and absolutely loved it. We have made that drive to and from LV from SD. Great video! Looking forward to tat TV Show.

Chad I spent four years on the Intrepid, Vietnam era . I was in the crash crew, and survived ! She has been a museum in NY since the 70's Went to visit several years ago and it was pretty emotional as I'm sure you can relate. You never forget the smell of your ship, mine was like bakalight or burnt wiring. We just love your channel.

We live not far from Pio Pico in the Eastlake area of Chula Vista. There's some really nice motorcycle riding out in that area! I was aboard Midway a few times between 1984-1986 when she was home-ported in Yokosuka, Japan.

Lol..had to laff when u said boat. My hubby, career marine, was a 46 helicopter mech. He ALWAYS called the ship...BOAT. Tara, I too love my hubbys stories, but not his time away as he has career sra time...6 med floats. HAPPY the day he retired!

I too, was on CVN-71 (87-90). Not a planker owner, but ship's company. Made the first maiden med cruise on that ship along with shock trials.

We just made our maiden voyage to Meteor Crater Park in Winslow AZ. Standing on a corner in Winslow still brings people to that popular site that the Eagles made famous Take It Easy out there.

It was great watching both yours and Phil and Stacey's videos on the Midway. Thank you for your service. As far as roller-coasters go, come to Ohio. We have 2 fantastic parks with wonderful coasters. Cedar Point and Kings Island. Both have on-site and close by RV parks. And the DW and I always ride in the back!

I haven’t been on the Midway but I was welcomed aboard the USS Chosin while TDY in San Deigo….I managed the contract for Navy Fire Fighter training as well as submarine FFT…good times. Was at Misawa AB 1980’s …lots of Navy friends there back in the day. LOL! 😆 good times sometimes.

Fabulous reviews. Really enjoy it. When I go TDY to San Diego, I stay in the Embassy Suites across from the Midway Museum. Great location. Look forward to taking our Motorhome camping in that area.

Great seeing San Diego again, I was sent to Sonar (SS) school there in 1982 at what was NTC (For Basic Electricity & Electronics) and the ASW base near Point Loma, I here NTC is now a race track. During class-wait-ups I served at the 32street station as a prisoner escort. Yes, I am a Bubblehead, retired @ 20 years, and like your friend most of the Boats I was on are also de-commissioned. The only one left is the USS San Juan (SSN-751). When I retire in for good here in a couple of years my wife and I hope to make a trip there in our 2014 Winnebago Brave. Thanks for sharing, and I just set my recording for RV'ing in the USA on Motortrend.

We fed the rays in Denver aquarium. It is weird. I enjoyed seeing these sites. Before my Army career I was stationed at NASNI and deployed on the Nimitz and Constellation.

Navy and Marine Corps air wingers are always different from everyone else. I loved it. I haven’t been back to SD since I EAS in ‘03. I plan to get back there in the next couple years for an air show at Miramar and to show my wife all the sites. I always get giddy reminiscing by on active duty life and my old job when we go to air shows.

My wife and I are retired from San Diego, now living in Northern Nevada. My wife was in the insurance business and insured the Midway's move to San Diego to become a museum. If you ever make it back to Dago, I highly recommend dinner at Rockin Baja Lobster in Old Town. Great food and awesome cocktails.

Enjoyed your video... San Diego native here... Pio Pico Park somewhat rustic but pretty nice based on your video... For the locals though, Jamul is pretty much the boondocks... Windy roads, not much there, etc... Getting there with a big RV from Las Vegas on the same day would certainly be a challenge... Best to you!...

We went to LA in September for Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm, and I think some of the same people were probably still stuck in the traffic there! And of course we went back to Vegas for a week, but thankfully it had started to cool down by then so was only in the mid to upper 90's.

Another great video! I too served on the Midway in 1980 while a Marine Avionics Com/Nav technician. Unfortunately, the Midway doesn't have one of the aircraft my squadron flew and I helped maintain, the RF-4B, a photo recon F-4. There is one in San Diego at MCAS Miramar. FYI - MotorTrend is Ch 246 on Dish Network. RV'ing in the USA airs at 6AM (0600) PST, 9AM (0900) EST. If you have the Hopper, set your DVR to record the series. Neilsen Telematics (the ratings systems) will see it is recorded and if it is viewed within 7 days. So please set your DVR's to support the show, and more RV broadcasts.

Tara, glad to see you are doing better after your fall. Traveling in California down south is probably one of the time I would break the 333 rule. I hate LA traffic so Ive learned to travel through there at the late hours. I used to drive line haul throughout the LA corridor. Been to the SanDiago zoo so many times when I was stationed down there. Good times. If you get up the coast in Oregon you need to stop at the Sea Lion caves and the Oregon Sea Museum. You can even spend the night there. Also if you get to Portland you can check out the submarine her. Safe travels and roads Brian and Cindy, "xtreambydesign with passion"

Can't believe you went to SD..... Last time I was there in San Diego (Sept. '69) the traffic was horrible then - and I can't imagine what it is now.. 5 mph for 90 mns?? I would have NO time for that.. Looks like you both had a great time though.. But CA is not for me - not now, not ever.. Funny thing is though, and I'm not kidding, the time I was there for boot camp, BE&E & Torpedo School, I froze my butt off.. 60F day time, 40F at night - with sea fog so thick I couldn't see my feet! Came up on deck in Feb. '68 and found an inch of snow on the USS Redfish.. Screw that.... I can get that at home... LOL Looking forward to that RV show coming up on Motortrend... Stay safe you two!!

Having a Gatorade bottle handy works a bit better. Also there’s no mistakes made later what’s in there.😂 Enjoyed visiting SD a few times while my son was stationed there but I personally wouldn’t want to live there in the daily hustle. Hopefully I can start traveling the country soon also after recently retiring. Just deciding where I might consider on calling a home base yet. Best of wishes & luck in your travels.

How awesome would it be if campgrounds offered doggy daycare for a fee? Win win for both the campground and the campers. We like to take our pets with us most of the time, but when we are going to be gone for a long period of time it would be great to be able to use doggy daycare on site.

Tara I was wondering if you have ever considered getting a rollator or scooter for when you are having a bad day? It helps me tremendously. I especially worry about getting stranded because I've walked too far and can't get back. That actually happened to me recently at the Hershey RV show. My husband tried to push me in the rollator but they are not made for that. He managed to flag down a golf cart that got us and my rollator to the parking lot. I'm planning on asking my doctor for a prescription for a scooter now so that doesn't happen again. Or better yet, an electric folding wheelchair that I can walk behind until I get tired.

I was active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1986-1992. I worked as an AT2 (Aviation Electronics Tech) on E2-C Hawkeyes (big frisbee on top) in VAW-120, then VAW-124. In VAW-124, we deployed on the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt for Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Cool video and my first time seeing the Midway. So replacing sealant I'm gonna guess you were an AT or AE? Retired AT here but never ships company so lots of carriers (10) including the Roosevelt but only for carrier quals for the flight crew VA-128. Independence replaced the Midway in Japan but I didn't catchup with them until 92-96. A friend of mine will probably chime in here as he was with VAW-115 but probably a couple years before you. A-6/EA-6B's or AIMD for myself. Good times and tell your friends thanks for service as well as yourself. Back to more of your videos. I mentioned my 95 HR in others videos, sagging roof in the back section, I'm thinking crushed roof bows due to heavy snow load. Roof top is made up of 4 huge aluminum panels but my shop isn't tall enough to fit inside the shop. Peace oooot.
