Born and raised in San Diego. Left after 67 years, moved to AZ. Could no longer afford, and tolerate the politics. Beautiful city. To bad the wrong people are running California into the ground. Thanks for sharing, enjpyed.
Ack! Once I found you two I was so busy binge watching to catch up that waiting a whole week for your next video was hard. Lol 😂 And happy birthday Brian! 🎶🎵🎉👏🧁
Love San Diego! The Midway Museum is really cool! So much to see and do! We loved going to a different beach at the end of the day to watch the sunset. Hope you had a great Birthday Brian!
This is was fun . …my husband did Navy boot camp in San Diego but than station in Newport Ri . I met my Iowan in RI. 😊 thanks for showing a great view of it! plus his twin sister live in Carlsbad, which never been there . They come to Iowa every year! … you had a great birthday! You wild Iowan boy in Vegas ! CA and Vegas on the bucket list! We just got back from Mackinac Island … Have a great week! Your favorite fans from Ankeny IA
Hi friends. Fun drive thru So. Ca. Thank you! Would love to see you two after 2 drinks!!! 😉😅. Happy Birthday 🎈, Brian. I also had a birthday recently! 🎉 (but many more than you!) 😂😉🎈💜
I wish I had known you'd be in San Diego. When I was on active duty in the 1980's, I served for a period of time on the USS Midway (from Yokosuka, Japan) - I would have gladly taken you on a personalized tour. Compared to other carriers of the time, the Midway was tiny! Perhaps we'll meet someday on the road! I wish San Diego wouldn't gouge visitors with the parking fees they charge around here - it often makes sense to park elsewhere and Uber to where you want to go.
Strange....I love you guys! I love your videos...great music selection and integration. Great content! It is very appreciated! Safe travels and can't wait for more!
Carlsbad and Encinitas my favorite places. So glad you showed the drive. Lots of traffic as usual. Shopping is awesome. Theres also a beach campsite. Wish could go back in a Grech. Love SanDiego also. Thanks for the tour.
We missed you guys!! We started our road trip on 9/4 there in Vegas. And ended in South Dekota on 9/18. We had so much fun and kept thinking we need an RV😊 My kids loved it. We went to all the National Parks and Monuments. Happy Birthday 🎉🥳🥳
I really enjoy seeing you two interact! You make me smile. Not sure how your wife puts up with you sometimes but you seem to enjoy each other's company. This week was one of my favorites, especially the tour of the aircraft carrier. Happy you found the carrier your father served on. Happy birthday, travel safe.
Came across your video and so glad I did! You guys have this great sense of humor thing happening. I just love it, and also checking out places I never knew existed. (I’m Australian so I do have an excuse!). I just cracked up at your little quip near the dump station 😂😂 Thanks you guys. So nice watching people in my age group out there living the dream😊
Little late watching today, out looking at some freedom rocks in Iowa today. Hope you had fun in Vegas, make sure it stays there! Julie’s brother was stationed in San Diego. No hope for the Hawks. Stay safe.😎🤓🥸
Another great video. Enjoyed your tour of the Midway. My daughter lived in San Diego for a few years. Every trip to visit I wanted to see that ship but never made it. Got a great look through your lens. Thank you!
San Diego usually has the best weather in the USA. Guess this time it wasn’t though. Vegas looked like lots of fun and good food. So glad you got your Mini Vinny back and are on the road to adventures and good food. We haven’t been to Vegas for several years now. Guess we need to go check it out again soon. I enjoyed the tour of the ship. We stayed on the Queen Mary for a week for a class though that’s certainly different from the San Diego tour. Ships histories interest me and oh yes, the stories and tales of another time. Thanks for another enjoyable Saturday morning.
Oceanside is our hometown and the 1 is a great drive thru all the beach towns. Too bad you couldn’t stop in O’side for food. It’s become the foodie Mecca!!
I always seem to see negative media reports about California here in Scotland. It looks lovely from what you have shown. Happy Belated Birthday Brian. Loved the vlog.
Happy Belated Birthday! I totally agree….. O is the very best Cirque show in Vegas. Oddly enough my least favorite was the Beetle Show. You make a very good point….with most Cirque shows the seats back and high are much better so you can see all that is happening.
Yummy those dishes looked delicious. Made me hungry. Back here in Louisiana I’m cooking chicken and sausage gumbo and the smell right now is intoxicating. Looks like the gas prices haven’t stopped a lot of RVers cause I see so many on the highway traveling with you. Love all the information you give on eateries and activities. Thanks again for another fun video. Safe travels.
Another very enjoyable video, folks! How smart of you both to make this work - safe travel! Enjoy your bit of time in Vegas. I’ve stayed from the old Riveria to The Four Seasons! Bellagio my fav. Had lunch at Wynn - pretty good.
Happy Birthday, Brian! I don't believe in astrological signs but there is some truth to them, I too had a birthday a couple of days before yours and I have noticed since watching your videos, which I enjoy, that we think in similar ways. I love aircraft carriers and actually got to take a one-day cruise on the USS Eisenhower in the Atlantic Ocean. They actually did take-offs and landings while we stood on the flight deck to watch. It was exciting. Thanks for producing good content each week. You all take care.
Happy Birthday Brian. Once again, awesome video! I get bummed when I hear the music at the end.... but will look forward to next week. Thank you for sharing!
What a great post. Love it! I use to work for Litton Guidance and Control, in Sofware Engineering department. Back in the late 80's and 90's. I would put the navigation software release packages together so they would to go out for testing at verious sites. They did the work for the USS Hancock Aircraft Carrier. That is so neat that Michelle's Dad was station on that ship. Also, loved seeing your stay in Vegas. Close to my stomping grounds. I know exactly where the REI is located. Nice area. It was fun to see you cooking, but always fun to eat out! Looks like a great way to celebrate Brian's Birthday.🎉 *Whoops, I was mistaken about the Aircraft carrier. The USS John Hancock was the one I was familiar with. I learned different today two different Ships. It very possible that Litton G/CS may have worked on the USS Hancock as well. From what I understand the USS Hancock was decomission in the 70's. Very interesting, I think I'd really love going to the USS Midway museum.🚢🚁✈
Happy Belated Birthday Brian! 29 I’m guessing! 😂. Two of my favorite places.. SD and LV!! I’ve taken the Midway tour and it was so cool to see! I had the chicken and waffles at Bellagio brunch 5 years ago and I’m still full! 😂. Great video you two!
My old stomping grounds. We always enjoyed the coastal drive in Cali and especially San Diego. Parking prices are horrendous in SD. If you park in the lots in Old Town and take a shuttle bus in to the USS Midway, you could have saved yourselves some money. I was disappointed that the National Parks Pass does not give you free admission to the Ship. Just next door you could have taken a Hornblower Whale Watching Tour to see not only whales and seals, but navy vessels like ships, helicopters, submarines. Old Town is days adventure in itself. We drove that 4 hour drive to Vegas on the 15 too many times to count. We lived in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV for 6 years. The RTI is on the corner of the District across the street from Shake Shack. It is a pleasant area to ear and shop. At the opposite end is the Green Valley Ranch Casino which rivals the Strip properties. Many ppl would park their RVs along Las Vegas Blvd across from the South Point Casino overnight. They usually do not bother you for one night stay. They closed the “O” and replaced it with a new show starting next week. They renamed the theater. Bellagio Conservatory is always beautiful. They change it five times per year. Thank you for the stroll down memory lane. We loved it in Vegas, but CoVid pushed us back East.
Oh wow are you passed the La Jolla exit you drove past where my house is to the left and I shop at the Costco you were shopping at. Wish I would’ve known it would’ve been nice to meet you guys I follow your adventures all over the place.
Vinny Ventana to Vinnie selling you "Stella" to Vinnie & "Wanda" adopting Stella & now Mini Vinny". I see a pattern, but maybe the next one should be Sherman. I love the Bellagio & a huge fan of Dale Chihuly. Currently experiencing the Alde system & need to start chasing sunshine !😉 BTW love that y'all have induction.
That’s been so ironic with the names, especially buying from a Vinnie and selling to a Vinnie. Maybe a sign from our angels of being on the right path perhaps? 🤔 🧡😊🤓
super cool video all aspects, humor, music and tips for traveling.Oh and happy birthday Brian.i like Vinny for camping, but I love Minnie Vinnie for traveling the best rig of all, great mpg. Pismo Paul
I have lived my entire life within an hour and a half drive from San Diego, and have never been on the USS Midway or Sea Port Village. We took the kids to the zoo and Sea World, but that’s it. Pretty pathetic. After your video, I’d like to go back! The price for the carrier was high, but expected. However, the price to park was absurd! San Diego and the outlying areas have always been an expensive place to visit and live. We were in Las Vegas a few months back to see Sting as my wife geeks out on him, but never been to the buffets so we’ll try one of them next time we’re there. Many of the Indian casinos let you park your RV overnight, but guess they don’t allow that at the casinos in Vegas? You guys entered that campground in Menifee after dark. I thought you followed the 3-3-3 rule of RV travel, but maybe not. Thanks for sharing!
We’ve never followed the 3-3-3 rule because we sometimes have to travel long distances to get somewhere before the work week OR much like this time you are referring to where we travel in the evening after we finish work, and when we do that this time of the year, it gets dark earlier, hence why we were driving in at dark. Also, it’s not a worry for us pulling in at dark with a small rig like this. Much easier and less to worry about. The Class A and Airstream was a different story.
Great video! I think you can have your parking ticket validated at Seaport Village if you buy something, like a cookie or drink. Makes it a little cheaper. Go Hawks! Tough one today against Ohio state.
The guy at the gate did tell us that and we completely forgot. 😂 Knowing Iowa, they may pull off a game like this…so unpredictable…not placing any bets, that’s for sure. 😂 We hardly ever get to watch anymore and from what we hear, this is a good year to not watch. 😂 Still keeping hopeful…GO HAWKS!
Happy Birthday, Brian! Would love to try the buffet at Wynn's one of these days! We love the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS. That was an interesting tour on the Midway - thanks for taking us along with you guys! xo Safe travels (from Laura and Scott, currently in FL for the winter).
I used to live near there. Actually, in Canyon Lake closer to where you camped a few days in Menifee. If you can ever see Canyon Lake, you may want to. Pretty interesting place and has a campground. Gated City.
Do you guys use harvest hosts? We ordered our b van and it should arrive in April! Trying to figure if we should use it. Loved your video on using city parks when you played on the playground! Also you talked to a woman who helps you with a membership of some sort to camp grounds but I can’t remember what that was called. Can you please tell me? Thanks for always being such a joy to watch! 2:34
Yes, we have used Harvest Hosts numerous times throughout our travels the past 4 plus years. Kimberly at Campground Membership Outlet is who sells the pre owned Thousand Trails memberships and she will let you k ow if there is something better for you than what she has. She is great! We have a contact form on our Resources page of our website to contact her, here is the link below. Just scroll down to the contact form to contact Kimberly. She will give you a ton of information and she won’t keep pestering you unless you are wanting information. www.livinrvision.com/resources/
Isn't the USS Iowa on display out there in California? I would enjoy the carrier tour being a vet from the US Air Force. Thanks for that tour. I enjoy all branches of service. We need each other. Love the meals in the Gretch. They looked like a 10 out of 10. 😁. You guys are having a great time.
The USS Iowa is in Los Angeles. About 3 years ago we went there but it was closing for the day and we were leaving the area, so we didn’t get to go through it. The meals were definitely a 5 😂 Maybe that’s why we eat out so much… 🤔 😂
You were certainly here in SN Diego during some very unseasonable weather for us! I can’t believe you went to Seaport Village and you didn’t eat or at least have an appetizer at Eddie Vs! And to come to San Diego and not eat fish tacos!! 🌮 😮. We are famous for our fish tacos!! It’s like going to Julian and not having pie!! Glad to see you’re going to be selling the Minnie Vinnie! Can’t wait to see your next adventure vehicle!! Hopefully you’ll have a little more room, but you’ve both been so well organized to make your van work!
As you know, it was very busy that Labor Day weekend and with the little time we had left in the day, we didn’t want to wait longer since Eddie V’s was so busy. We did eat tacos at another place that we can’t recall what the name was, but we didn’t film. Sometimes when rushing we just simply get tired of continually pulling out the camera. Lol Yes, Grech will be selling Mini Vinny since it is their van as mentioned before. We are just resting their model(s) and providing feedback to them and you, the consumer. 👍🏻😊🤓 The van life has been a game changer for us, especially since we sit in one place so much on our computers. Much different than someone retired or that has more time on their hands to do “normal” daily life activities “around the house”. Not having all the headaches of the bigger rigs sure has it’s advantages. There’s a good reason why so many of them sell and when you drive by many of the RV factories now, you see way more vans on their lot than they used to have. We are from Iowa which is where Winnebago is located and when you drive by now, it is unbelievable how many Class B (vans) they have in their lot. We’ve seen this in other areas as well. Crazy how things change sometimes.
My husband was stationed in San Diego on a sub-tender called the Proteus between 1977 - 1981. That location is on our bucket list! It was great seeing how you live in the Gretch! When you decide to leave a campground early, do you still have to pay for the days you reserved? Thanks again for another great video!
We thank your husband for his service.🇺🇸 If we leave one of the Thousand Trails campgrounds early it doesn’t cost anything because we camp for free within our membership. If we leave any other campground early that we paid for, yes we do receive a refund if within their cancellation timeframe.
Oh my goodness you drove right past me I’m off the 15 freeway exit Murrieta Hot Springs Rd, I’ve been following you almost two years. Would have loved to meet you both. Safe travels 💕
Oh darn! We would have loved to meet you too! Sounds like we need to have a Meet Up in the area. We just had one up in Big Bear Lake last weekend. Hopefully next time. 🧡😊🤓
