It's not hard to imagine she being slow to open up to her friends and actually start to act like she cares about them. She wants to have friends, but years of building a shell (to cover herself from the shallow rich people she had to deal with) is not easily broken. She's really a kind and caring, but doesn't know how to show it. Instead, Weiss pushed people away.
