RWBY Fairy Tales: The Girl In The Tower 

Ah, what a happy ending. I sure hope nothing bad happens to either of them which would eventually cause the waning extinction of the human race

Well, now that she's immortal, her father doesn't have to worry about losing her anymore

I like how Jen drastically changed Salem's voice for this episode because it helps to show what she was like before she went over the edge. Actually, young Salem's voice kinda sounds like the voice Jen would use for Princess Peach way back in the day

It always seemed so sudden when Salem busted to the God "that's not fair" seeing an earlier version of her portraying simular character traits clears it up nicely.

Salem's father never coped with losing his beloved and his daughter did the same..... It's 'Sins of the Father' all over again. So many suffered because these two couldn't grieve & move forward in life. The saddest fact is..... Salem is still writing her 'happy ending'.

I think this fable was perfectly adapted. Not too much, but not too little A properly told "fairytale" of remnant.

At least the father king got his wish come true. His daughter is immortal.

I love that Salem has always been conniving and cunning, even since she was 16. It truly does make sense the path she took once she met Ozma.

Gotta love Oz referring to himself as the brave new challenger. Also I like the parts where Salem’s current voice breaks through well she writes her story

Ozpin at the end knowing what comes after the story is really sad since he lived it and would have had all the feelings come back to him

I will never stop referring this as the story of how the *Father tried to take the kids instead of filing for a Divorce.*

It’s good to know that people still enjoy RWBY regardless of the backlash and such. I remember hearing Salem’s voice for the first time when I watched RWBY and I have to say I am not surprised that Salem’s VA still sounds amazing. And yes Salem’s VA Jen Taylor drew me in due to me being a halo fan, and hearing Cortana every time Salem isn’t on screen. Like in episode 1 I immediately thought of Cortana, from halo

Ozpin: Sike! This ain’t no fairytale, it’s an autobiography.

Yoooo now this really changes some perceptions. As presented in show Salem is like traditional fairy tale damsels that need the heroic knight to save them. But Salem by writing her story down & sending the letters actually in a way saved herself. Thats some meta approach to fairy tales.

If anyone still had doubts, I just tried putting Jaune's emblem over the banner in Salem's room, it fits PERFECTLY

Dark ending but I like it cause it reflects Oz's past with Salem.

They really tried making Ozpin morally gray when in reality, he did nothing but a good deed then died.

This series has been a real shot in the arm for RWBY itself. They’re wonderfully written tales with a lot of emotional resonance to them. All of the characters are endearing and memorable.

The old lord is more stupid and overprotective than cruel. I actually feel sorry for him. My favorite theory of RWBY is that Jaune is Salem's direct descendant. That symbol on the curtains made it more plausible to me. And for some reason, I can see Jaune being related to the lord. After all, it seems trouble with women is an Arc Curse, at least if you're male

Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story?

So did Ozpin make Beacon look like this castle on purpose? It looks similar enough

Oh my god, she always been like this from start, for her own needs and desire, she sealed the fate of many lives for it. Also WE GOT TO SEE OZ, IM SO HAPPY 😊

HEAR ME OUT….. The emblem on the banner in her room looked a lot like Jaune’s emblem so maybe they are related in some way.

It’s funny how stories change from what we know now than from the original story. My parents always told me the original stories, I’ll admit they scared me a little but there’s some great beauty to them

If this was supposed to be a season finale, it was a good one to end on. Why? Because Ozpin is right. Real life doesn't have happily ever afters.

Story was nice but I am more happy that we saw Ozpin! Still, there goes my theory that they would be saving this fable for last before the new season starts. Maybe they will tell the story about the girl who fell through the world at the end then?

Is it weird that I find little Salem kinda adorable?

How would her mother react if she sees what happened to her daughter right now ?

Salem now reminds me of her father a lot, deciding other futures without any say from them and looking for control wherever possible I hope Salem’s ultimate end is to be locked away in a tower for eternity, that would be fairly poetic

Well it's true what they said "happily ever after" is only for stories that haven't ended yet

The crest on the walls in the tower is similar if not the same then Jauns crest on his shield. They are still fostering that theory that they are related by blood.

Kinda thought she was just gonna wrap herself in paper and jump for a second.

Quite a tragic tale this is. Beautiful lady but when I saw Salem in the end I was like “OH. OH NO.😳”

I've always believed that the only one who could really stop Salem was herself...the ending of this kind of gives me more hope on that.

Oof dude, that ending. Really puts into perspective Oz's feelings towards the thing.

I really feel the true words of Ozma... I miss a lot Ozma and Ozpin... for me, they've done nothing wrong. Salem neither in a way. She just became as selfish as her own shamelessly despiteful grieving father who became the shadow of himself by not moving forward. And, in my opinion, it's the true morale here. If you stay on a bad state of mind without searching any help, you will only harm your surroundings (AND YOURSELF!) and the more they're close to you, the more you'll hurt them, till they became what you feared they'll be. And in this story : Distant. And, GOD I know how difficult it is to find the right help at the right time, so this is why Ozma's words echoed in me : "You rescued yourself" because YOU are by the end your only true helper. You are the only one to find your way out and to make decisions, and most importantly, to take action. For yourself, for what you believe to be just or true. I know I can speak for myself on that, but it's only because I still haven't found my long-seeking help... I've been the Ozma of quite a few people, but some others were just here to make me discover that I'm also the Salem of myself without preventing me from being the shadow I despited... even if, thankfully, I'm able to see that, allowing me to hope and to be helped when the time will be the right one. I'm just in my tower, waiting my inspiration to find my Ozma, to find the one you'll help me being who I want to be and not my demise. (I know this is my story, I'm sorry, but I also know that a lot of people can relate on that because self-seeking is a human feature :) So you're welcome if I could put words on your thoughts of yourself) AND ABOUT THAT ! If Salem became what she is on RWBY, it's because even if she has been rescued, she wasn't ready to help herself lives in the World she only knew on the books. Living isn't a recipe. She got a whole life to cope on and (I think) it was too much for her, confronting her ideals and what she realistically knew from her father-boundings. She was only yet to fail as her father did and by so, turning selfish and distant from that same world she was longuing to know of... I'm sorry for that long thought. But it was a comment yet to be written, and yet again, it's only my opinion on this, so if I wrote it like if that was the truth, just know that it isn't my intention :) It's only how *I* depicted it, and how my vision is out of it, with a self-explaination of the morale I found in it, mostly, I think. xD Sorry... Anyone else notice that the tale has moments looking like a book and most importantly one that moves on gears like the office and Ozpin’s emblem I think it’s to emphasise the Ozma connection also to show how this is the end of this group of fairy tales and the end of a “chapter”it’s quite clever when you look at the subtext behind everything being show n

This feels like a finale. The fact that Ozpin left this story for last because it was so personal to him. Also the fact that we saw the narrator (Ozpin) at the end of the episode.

Nobody seems to have gotten the point of it all. The father held fear for losing his daughter, and that fear took over. And out of his fear, came the result he didn't want most. If he trusted his daughter from the beginning and gave her a chance to go outside, she would have never had the desire to manipulate as she does now. It is because of her isolation that she was always so distant and selfish. She never knew normal interactions, nor did she know what living was. All she knew was that when she manipulated someone, she got her way. That's the first lesson she ever learned, and it is because of this miscued reason that all of this happened.

I always wondered "Why did her Father kept Salem in that tower in the 1st place?" Was it because he fears that she'll became something worse of what we see in the RWBY Canon story today? Only 1 way to find out.

Anyone notice the similarities of the kings emblem to the family symbol of a certain sword and sheild weilding blonde?

So if Zelda, Rapunzel and She-Ra combined into one, would this be the result?

In the end Salem also talks with Ozpin voice because it's what he hopes would've happened: a fairytale ending

it is nice to hear and see Salem's tale in more detail before she left the tower. How people learned of her, how Ozma learned of her. Even at a young age she was very clever.

Well... We heard this story in Volume 6... The original of Salem

In a way both father and daughter got their wish, the father's daughter would never truly die and the daughter has seen more of the world than anyone

It just me or does the dad look very similar to the king in the previous tale? Also props for getting a chance to see old Ozpin again.

To quote Ra's Al Ghul: "That impossible anger strangling the grief, until the memory of your loved one is just poison in your veins. And one day, you catch yourself wishing the person you loved had never existed, so you'd be spared your pain." Just like her father, Salem let her love for Ozma turn to poison in her veins she she refused to let him go when he died.

I don't think I am the only one who noticed that Jaune's crest looks like the crest on the tapestries.

I like watching these and learning more about both the characters, and the world of remnant. I find things like this fascinating.

It kinda gave me chills when Ozpin's voice started to voice Salem instead of her voice actress for some reason. Probably because that part of the story is truly personal for Ozpin and that is the conversation they had....and probably the moment he fell in love with her....

Just noticed that the flags in salems room have the same or a very similar looking symbol on jeane's shield, nice little detail there

I never thought I would see Ozpin office again from season 1 of Rwby. That was really nice. But also I'm ready to see were this tragedy of a story, will finally end.
