The part that most sticks out to me is that they just forget that Ruby is supposed to be weapon nerd for most of the show and only remember to bring it up as a joke a couple of times. Why Rooster Teeth? That's actually an interesting character trait that makes her a bit different from all the others and can make for interesting plot points. For example have one of their weapons break and her fix it/give it an upgrade. Or have her work with Jaune at the beginning of the show to make him a better weapon since he apparently isn't satisfied with something so mundane. That could lead into them becoming friends and us learning more about each character. They could have at least had her reforge Jaune's sword instead of having a random blacksmith from a random village do it. The second worst thing to having a random guy work on her friends weapon is when we see her room. it's just bland. If you enter the room of an anime fan you will see a couple of figurines or a poster or two at LEAST. And Ruby is supposed to be a big weapon nerd so why aren't there pictures of weapons, blueprints she's come up with, different weapons in various stages of building, anything? we also don't see anything else she's worked on, like you don't expect me to believe the badass sniper scythe is the first weapon she ever designed and built do you? and she never built anything else after that?

RWBY was okay for what it is when it first came out. I think the show completely derailed after Monty’s death. Personally, they should have updated the animation or have a professional studio do a reboot.

3 things completely killed roosterteeth 1. Selling to full screen 2. Monty dying 3. Ray leaving achievement hunter Not saying it wasn't going down the shitter before these, but it was at least semi watchable.

I feel like this show had two major problems (in my opinion) 1. I have a feeling Monty just wanted to animate the dramatic fighting, but knew no one would watch that without a plot carrying it along, hence why the writing leaves so much to be desired 2. It throws several tons of really interesting ideas into the mix, but develops none of them. Dust for example, a really neat idea, but no one in the show ever uses it for anything other than bullets and they forget about it after season 2. World of Remnant says it can be weaved through clothes or wielded raw, but the only character to ever do this is Cinder who switches to maiden powers. Or some of the characters, such as Yang who apparently has abandonment issues leading to her protective actions over Ruby (which only happened twice maybe?), or Pyrrah's prodigy status separating her from people that only comes up once. I do enjoy the show, but I won't say it doesn't have flaws (Also, why the hell do people use characters as insults? Do they realise how childish they sound even though they're trying to be taken seriously?)

.... Ok i'm going to talk about it. In the last airbander, Ozai is not suppose to be the most complex villain, he's the final obstacle that Aang and his team have to overcome, he's there to look intimidating and bad, as he does a good job at this, the actual complex villains, Zuko and Azula, make you believe that the fire lord is a actual dangerous bad guy, not only has he started a war, but he also destroyed the life of his own entire family. In other words, Ozai narratively didn't need to be a complex villain, this would have make you have some empathy towards him, and the narrative don't want you to have any good felling towards that guy, he writers treat him just like the audience and Aang does: As a final objective.

I love how Transformers Prime ended around the same time RWBY first aired, and a single screenshot of the first season of Prime is better than the entirety of RWBY

Can't lie, just got here and I have to say: I fell off RWBY after episode 5. I randomly check back in every now and again, but this show is pretty much that grandparent you don't want to call or see anymore until your parents tell you to call them.

Now I will point out two things: A) the show is literally just ripping out a anime / manga series called Soul Eater. That's the reason why they have meaningless teen stuff because Soul Eater has meaningless teen stuff. That's why the world needs some "deep" lore because Soul Eater had that. B) The show only got worse without Monty Oum because he was the only person on that damn team with some idea what he wanted out of it and that was awesome fights which season 1 to 3 had. The main writers are Kerry Shawcross and Miles Antony Luna, two weeaboo with no fucking experience about story telling outside of watching some animes and probably lots of hentai. Fuck that arm thing, it was stupid, easy and fucking worthless.

A lot of the criticism is valid, though the beginning just seems to be filled with conspiracy theories and doesn't actually talk about the show.

I watched Rwby for the cool fights and kickass music. Both of those things peaked at Volume 3. There is practically nothing else to care about and people who say otherwise are either kidding themselves or hardcore shippers.

The dust is very obviously in Weiss' sword. You can literally see the vials of dust. Look I agree that the show is largely mediocre, but this is a really strange thing to miss and then rambling incessantly about characters never being seen using it.

I usually tell myself the animation shouldn't be the reason for me to not give a show a chance but RWBY's animation is one of the shows where i had to go back on my word.

I believe RWBY definitely had it's potential of being a good show at one point (from up to seasons 1 and 2), until that is the unfortunate and unforeseen passing of the show's beloved creator, Monty Oum, had died and left the management and production of the show in the wrong hands. Now the cucks at Rooster Teeth have completely ruined it by killing off some of the best characters and throwing the show in a loop with a weak plotline and horrible antagonists.

I think that "real purpose" Torchwick almost has might be just to inform us that someone at Rooster Teeth watched the first 16 minutes of "A Clockwork Orange" one time at a party in college, then got super wasted and passed out.

The one reason to watch the show was the fight scenes. I spent a lot of my childhood browsing fight scenes made on stickpage and the like, and for me, seeing RWBY's action was a wet dream. It's as if these stick fight animators got a budget and had an understanding of how to use cgi. The characters for me had their charm in their style and dialogue, i didn't really care much for their backgrounds, or motivations, it was just the thrill of the action with each character's own style thrown in. Yes, the animation was not great, and was definitely not for everyone, but considering the state of its production, I can appreciate the standard it's at. It had its own charm that I personally quite liked. It was colorful and flashy. It's jankiness is quite apparent throughout the the first 3 seasons, but it's quality action was enough to outweigh that for me. Comedy, I understand, could be hit or miss, but I find a lot of shit funny so it kinda stuck for me. Anything past season 3 was pretty much devoid of action and style, everything that I liked about RWBY was seemingly thrown into a ditch and buried, with "relationship trouble", "holy shit look everyone, we got smooth animations!" and "inspirational dialogue" being the main points of the show. Monty's death should have been the end of the RWBY, seeing as it was pretty much his personal passion project. But RT hijacked it and decided to make it something completely different, utterly disrespecting Monty's work. Look, they more or less made an entire season about Blake.... BLAKE LOL. Yang just lost her arm ffs but they decided to dedicate a cumulative half episode to cover that with a Rocky montage of her training with her dad. And she got a prosthetic arm anyway which nullifies the significance of losing the arm in the first place. Instead of giving the loss of a limb any real leverage for the viewer to invest in Yang, we'd rather talk about Blake's angry boyfriend and... ex girlfriend... and NOT SUN... FOR A SEASON. And then fire one of RWBY's best VAs

I thought I was the only one, I remember around the time this show came out and it was getting nothing but praise. While I agree with most of your points, I will note that the premise is interesting and the show by itself isn't inherently flawed and could be done decently.

The jittering is probably from a "gravity" function in the animation program they're using. It's something you'll notice from time to time in MMD stuff when it isn't rigged well.

I'll be honest, RWBY is a guilty pleasure of mine, but you make some really good points. Since the first episode the voice acting has always sounded amateurish to me.

I've been a fan of Rooster Teeth for about 10 years, I pay for their monthly subscription service and I own a lot of their mech, you could say I like them. And I'm with you on that, I can't stand RWBY and RvB. But the beginning of the video completely delegitimizes your argument. If you put that part in just to anger the community and get publicity, well done. If you were legitimately trying to criticize the show, try again.

OKay so Blake is meant to be Belle from Beauty and the Beast, which is Bullshit as Belle was not some pushover shy girl, she was strong and proud. Also the deep lore of the world was the result of Monty just putting ketchup/sauce on a napkin and smashing it together and then opening it and saying "Here is Remnant" its true he talked about it on one of the older hard to see RT Podcasts, notice they have removed quite a lot of the old ones like they are afraid someone might get shitty over something from 8 years or more ago. Also season 4 was literally the joke always made about LOTR, people walking and talking for most of it.

Now, I'm an, amateur as fuck, creator... But I have to say something. Tighten up your script writing, please. You spent soooo long not talking about the show, at all. And no, I don't consider random, petty drama outside of the show to be important. So after skipping through that whole section, I finally got to your critique of the show. And I'm not going to disagree with a lot of your points but they seem to be random nitpicks peppered throughout, using words such as "cingey" and "generic". It's kind of ironic to see "generic" as a common critique as the writing to this video felt very lazy. Also, why the fuck would you leave in a rant you didn't want to keep in there? Just cut it. Bringing attention to the fact that you fucked up or that your point was bad is like slapping a bandaid over a bullet wound. And you did that multiple times. I'm saying all of these things as I agree with a lot of your points but the way they're presented makes me want to disagree with you. Please, please, please work on your writing. Cut out the drama that exists outside of the show, or at least make that into its own video, then you'll have TWO videos which would benefit you even more. Please find more specific descriptors than "cringey, generic, etc", you can use them every now and again but your arguments lose strength when you're showing how lazy your writing is. And NEVER, I mean, never, leave in something you fuck up on and just sort of point it out.
