I just realized, The Lamp said "you can't" not "nothing can", which means there is a way to defeat Salem, but it's not Ozma. I mean, he asked "How do I destroy Salem?". And the answer was "you can't." so someone will be able to kill Salem.

I feel so fucking sorry for oscar every single time. He is such a great character and it feels so sad that he might be gone one day.

Oscar vs Ruby was hilarious. Then Ozpin stepped in and it got even more hilarious

Goddamn, I didn't actually realize how fast they were merging from V4 - V8. Oscar in Vol. 4 & 6 still walks & talks like himself V7 is where we really see the merging going on. He's walking, posing & talking like Oz. It's gonna be a sad day when Oscar goes away for good

The thing about it is: people change. He's a kid being forced to grow up too fast & grow into a role no one else can fill. So there's a serious and credible argument to be made that much of this is Oscar adapting in a way natural to his situation, as much as anything mystical. He did not sign up for this, we don't sign up for a lot of things in life. Much as we might wish it differently. Kid is preforming admirably. And it is him. Setting aside how much that is "him" or "them" or some gradient in-between: so much of what he was doing at the end there in Atlas was so out of the box Ozpin operated in that Oscar might as well being hoping around on shards of the moon! The box is gone, most of Ozpin's inner circle have failed him, secrets are no longer the protection they once were, and Oscar scarcely has authority over so much as a houseplant! So if you think about it, Ozpin is having to adjust and adapt just as much (if not more given how set in his ways he probably was). They're literally meeting each other half way. We're never going to know who Oscar could have grown into without Ozma's past selves coloring his life or the loose ends of Ozpin's life invading his own. But we do know he's going to solve these problems his way & his friends are going to help him.

Just goes to show, even if for some unknown reason Ozpin get separated from Oscar (which doesn't make any narrative or thematic sense) it wouldn't undo the change that's already done. It wouldn't matter, they're already fundamentally changed.

Oscar was SUCH a good addition to this show.

I think Ozpin and Ruby are polar opposites the more you think about. Ozpin lead a secret brotherhood to stop Salem, and Ruby became the de facto leader in the war against Salem after Oz disappears, Ozpin was the Chosen One to unity humanity in harmony by the God of Light, while Ruby is the Unchosen One, who got into the secret war by pure chance, they both learn from their mistakes, with Ozpin realizing that he should have trusted the heroes with the truth, and Ruby realized that she doesn’t need to be perfect to be a Huntress after seeing her mother lying about her mission.

I sorry but I dont like the way they treated Oscar every time someone mentions Ospin its a direct hit to hit and he gets hate for things he never did has done or even wanted to do. Oscar is innocent in all of this and only got here cause his personality was like minded.

The sad part is, Ozma doesn't want this either. I'm not saying he's completely innocent, or that he didn't do bad stuff as well, but when this all started, when he agreed to come back to life to stop Salem, he had no idea what would happen. Ozma doesn't want to keep stealing bodies or merging souls. Heck, after merging so many times who can say how much of the original soul of Ozma is left? Like the Ship of Theseus, how many planks of wood can you replace before it is no longer the same boat? How many times can one soul be merged with others before it's no longer the same soul? At some point, Ozma even wanted to die. He was sick of living, iirc he became an alcoholic at one point and even tried to commit suicide, but not even that worked. He still wasn't freed from this hellish cycle of death and rebirth. I think he truly felt guilty about each body he stole, it wasn't by choice it was the gods' faults. That aside though I laughed at 4:33, why does that remind me of that Bugs Bunny Communist meme? "They're our thoughts, now." 😂 Dammit though starting at 38:16 it just gets really sad. And then hearing Ozma shout "Nooo!" and rush at Ruby at 43:22 is just so gut-wrenching. Having his painful past shown to everyone, can you imagine how re-traumatizing it must've been to witness it all again from a third-person perspective? And this time he doesn't have the benefit of his memories fading (as all memories do with time), Ozma gets to relive in excruciating detail his whole life, all his regrets. Like damn, as a private person myself this is kinda like my worst nightmare. I can only imagine how vulnerable and exposed (not in that way) poor Ozma must've felt. Like holy shit at 44:58 he has literally been broken down into tears! As Ozpin he NEVER cried, never showed so much emotion. And then everybody berates him and Qrow punches poor Ozma/Oscar (seriously ouch poor Oscar didn't deserve that at all) I just... I know he hid a lot from them, he lied about being able to defeat Salem (or at least he doesn't know how to) but wow, I really felt for the guy. Kinda hate how everybody kicked him when he was down like that. I wish I could've given him a hug. 😭
