whats the difference between her doing it to normal cake and birthday cake? or was that your roundabout way of saying you want two (presumably specific) characters to marry?
@@TheMike0088 Well you don't exactly have 31 weddings to celebrate, as opposed to possibly dozens of birthdays. And birthdays are focused on one character, where a wedding can focus on at least two.
@@VegaSlides I suppose thats fair, but... 1. correct me if I'm wrong, but we've never even had a birthday celebration in the show. 2. Whou would even be candidates for marriage at this point in the show? The only ones that come to mind would be Ren and Nora, seeing how they went through so much together and have been each others family since childhood, but their romantic relationship has barely even begun at that point, and they're still teens. Actually, I guess that nice lesbian couple with their kid where one is Jaunes sister would work, assuming they aren't already married, but they really don't have a role in the story anymore. 3. With the world still in chaos like it is, I highly doubt this is the right time to worry about something like marriages.
To the Ace Ops point about trusting each other but keeping it about business- I think its a defense mechanism, and not an unreasonable one. Having an expectation that any one of them might die, and that in order to accomplish the mission they might even have to leave one person behind, it's easier to come to grips with that if you're at arms length. Saves you from making the decision to shut your buddy on the wrong side of the watertight door when the ship is sinking; give them a chance to make it and you might not be able to close the door against the flooding, shut it now and you save the ship but you closed the door. Not an enviable position to be in. Still have to agree with Ruby though, its hard to go through that kind of a stressful environment and NOT become family along the way.
Given that there's five of them instead of four, it's pretty likely they alone were selected to leave their teams of four from Atlas Academy to become an Ace-Ops. They were probably close friends with their old teams before they were dragged away and they're trying to distance themselves from their new team to avoid getting hurt again
@@joshobrien3467 That's kind of an interesting thought, I hadn't considered the odd number dynamic. Although, we don't really have an indication that Atlas has a draft system, plus you wouldn't exactly get loyal, elite troops that way which makes me think they probably volunteered or the rest of their teams didn't go into the military a la Robin Hill and her crew of Mantle Huntresses
It could also possibly suggest that even though the Ace-Ops are older and more skilled, they're not necessarily more *experienced.* They've probably been on tough missions, sure, but they've likely never had to deal with the insane shit our teams have been put through. So much chaos, death and trauma, from a young age to boot. As such, they have never really *needed* to bond as a family.
Re: Amity Arena being the site of the Fall of Beacon, that's exactly why it was used to kick off the Fall. If people think that this one tragedy should cause the symbol of international unity and peace to be set aside and never used again because of the bad memories associated with it, then Cinder and Salem have already won
I agree with you 100% when you say Jacques doesn't get to pull the Mom card. After everything he put that poor woman through, the sheer gall...😤😡. There's a special place in hell is waiting for him, be it the nine circles, the pit of Tartarus, or the cold depths of Helheim.
It makes sense he did though. It's a classic abuser tactic (which Jock is imo). Basically, it's a way of getting her under his control again through guilt. And yes, it makes him terrible
@@gregorycourtney1532 Yeah, which is why Blake looked much madder than Yang or Ruby when he pulled that card. She is all too familiar with that kind of manipulation
17:41 They called me crazy for thinking Jaques would play a role in Salem’s plot. But I called it, Now Winter and Weiss to have full justification to kill their father.
Paul Jordan Again, you’re right they probably won’t, BUT I’m part of the community who want to see Weiss beat someone with that Thick weave and who would be better than her abusive father
Well, it was one of the easier, obvious ways to make Jacques an actual enemy of the team. Don´t get me wrong, he was the worst kind of person before, but he wasn´t doing anything to be a target for the girls. (Except for personal reasons.)
Here's a reference some of you may or may not get. Jacques: *about to hit Weiss* Ironwood: *Grabs Jacques by the wrist with his right hand, has an orange in his left.* Ironwood: "Jacques, *takes bite out of orange* do you know what happens to a fresh orange when you squeeze real hard?" *Crushes Jacques wrist* If you get the reference then you've had an excellent childhood
I think I understand why you say Ironwood uses the staff of creation. But at the same time think about our own world: when do we see the fastest technological development? In times of war, be it hot or cold. Remnant has just seen a very harsh war and on top of it all, Atlas is in a particularly hostile environment. Both are factors that force you to innovate for dear life, because then for once, knowledge and innovation is valued higher than money.

I love how wiess refer to her friends as family infront of her dad XD also my two cents: I think they getting a perfesional license is mainly so they can keep working for him (i imagine you cant actually do huntsmen work in atlas or the military without a perfesional certificate.) I think it's a good thing that the arena is being used for this. it's sort of a "take something bad and make it good" and i think it's been long enough now that most of them have moved on.
Still dont think Yang should be as moved on. Then again they moved her on from it about as soon as she was shown in Volume 4. And then got over the rest in a matter of onscreen minutes due to poor writing decisions. Still leaves a bad taste in my mouth knowing they could have saved that arc ironically by cutting more out and leaving it up in the air rather than forcing a conclusion if they didnt have the time or money to actually go into her recovery.
@@daysand123 Eh, considering the worst thing Yang did in the arena didn't evwn actually happen and she was just framed, I'd say she has no real reason to be hung up about it. Ruby or even Juane however, I could understand about being wary of Amity Arena.
@@divergentdreams1951 except it was a big reason for even her own partner questioning her and feeling like a letdown to everyone around her. Not to mention even if it came to light for them that it was framed that still doesnt mean everyone around the kingdom should just act like she didnt cause a bunch of panic because she clearly did unintentionally. And even if they did know there are still huge assholes realistically everywhere that would just blame the quickest solution.
9:23 Jacques Schnee is a ABSOLUTE UNBELIEVABLE LOW DOWN DIRTY SCUM BAG!!!! 💢😠💢 oh and Harriet is my favorite in the Ace Ops I'm bias for speed characters I grew up with Sonic the Hedgehog can you blame me 😁
Everyone is theoryzing that Watts is going to hack Penny, but what if he hacks Amity Arena and told the world something really bad about Ironwood? That's would do a really damage
I just have to question what Crow meant when he said that "it was a summer secret". It definitely brings into question her character like you said. It also makes me wonder if it somehow relates to Raven leaving. I only say that as we still don't know what the exact thing was that made Raven turn her back on everything. It reminds me back to volume 5 when said said Ruby sounded like her mother, she said it in such a way that almost felt like she was bitter about it.
9:27 - I cannot help it but keep wondering .. what kind of vicious murdering thoughts you were having at this point towards Jacques. The frown, voice, that look in your eyes. That was .. awesome. :)
I love the little freeze-frame bonus when Penny "surprises" RWBY at 10:40 - the others are sent flying ass-over-teakettle, but Blake leaps backwards with "claws" out in front of her. So catlike. :3
man, for whatever reason I really wasn't vibing with the intro when I first heard it, but 4-5 episodes in I'm jamming out as hard to it as I did with vol 5's and 6's now
I think the Ace Ops not being Friends is going to make them have a "every person for themselves" kind of situation where things get tense and they go for self preservation instead of trying to protect one another, especially Clover cause it seems like he leans on his luck semblance alot, but that could just be me.
5:19 thank you very much 10:16 ironwood hugging weiss from behind and looking and her father "be silent to much stress is bad for your granddaughter" - would be interesting to see his face in that moment 10:47 marilyn monrow pose? 13:37 luckily no trauma/ptsd triggered for penny 15:45 keep the haircut penny :) mfg Olli
@@PunsofDamage oh cool, you do post them like that. I was wondering, since a different channel said they posted their reactions the same way, and since yours usually stay hit for a while, I was wondering if you did it differently.
the thing I keep thinking back to with this volume is that the official RWBY social pages used a Bee pun in one of their post's caption. That combined with their exchange in Episode 3, I'm convinced that there's gonna be more happening with Blake and Yang again.
Yay! Did not realize how much I've missed the "concerned Beeker" face/noise. Since it doesn't seem we are getting anymore chibi, its good that we have Nora being chibi IN CANON. As for the Aceops (I still think of them as team CREST due to their outfits, just fighting grimm now instead of cavity creeps) Marrow is about the only one I like. As for why not take him to Mantle, yeah, the more bigoted humans would grief him, and the faunus might see him as a sellout. No win for the poor guy.
On them getting their licenses militaries have alternate ways to commission officers in war time. Sometimes doing good leadership work in combat can directly result in a commission so I don't think Ironwood was weird for giving them their licenses. There's precedent and also why make it more difficult for capable people to work with you when they have already proven themselves?
When you said" remember when people died there?" I was so relieved to finally see that commented on! I mean, why would Iron Wood think that was a good place to celebrate?!
Everything Nora does in this chapter is amazing and if anything happens to her... Actually, it's more likely she's going to do stuff to everyone else. Ironwood investigating the murders of people who speak out against him is a good move on his part, sure he may not care about his own reputation anymore but having people dropping dead under his watch would only worsen the situation in Mantle, the last thing he needs. Jacque... The sooner someone locks him up the better. He has no right to try and manipulate Weiss in the way he did. But clearly, with Ironwood there, he wouldn't have gotten away with anything more. I also think it's important to note the similarities between Jacque and Weiss' relationship and Blake and Adam's. Both Jacque and Adam try to make out as though Weiss and Blake are the one causing problems when they are very much the victims. All of them being officially granted their licences. It's interesting to say the least, whether he's doing it to gain their trust or not. It means they'll have more freedom in how they operate for sure. I'm glad they talked about Summer in this chapter. Finding out her last mission was something Summer did on her own opposed to being an Oz mission could mean all sorts of things but I have a feeling that she did something she knew even Oz wouldn't want. Whatever that could be. Finally, how Jacque reacts to Watts, clearly he was shocked and I wouldn't be surprised if he was afraid that Watts was going to leak some dirt on him. But given that Watts is offering him a chance to get at Ironwood, a man like Jacque is not going to refuse. Let's just hope it backfires on him and Jacque ends up sharing the fate of Lionheart. I think Ironwood's reasoning behind using Amity Arena as the new tower is to be very much a "From the ashes of defeat comes our victory". Yes, it was a place where many had died and where everything went wrong, but to him, it doesn't matter. He's got a mission and he will try to see it through. It's just the lengths that he'll go that worry me. Your theory about Atlas advancing using the Relic of Creation makes way too much sense. Even though RWBY futuristic with its tech, compared to current day tech, the tech in Atlas has always been better. So either they just happened to get the people who were skilled with creating advanced tech or they used the all powerful relic that allows you to create basically whatever you want. My opinion on Ace Ops? They're cool and all have some unique designs but they had to make Harriet the best, didn't they? Really hope that she learns that co-workers can be friends too over the course of this volume
Dang, you're still being incredibly hard on Ironwood but you have your opinions and that's fine. Just saying though if/when Ironwood redeems himself. I'm going be over here holding the biggest "I told you so". And I'm still frustrated with the characters line of thinking, maybe it's because I'm an empath like a MF but the whole "He trusted himself" line is irritating. He did trust people including Salem who then betrayed & killed him several times. Along with Leo & probably Lord knows how many others who also went down that path. Of course he started keeping more to his chest. And Ruby doesn't know she is following the exact same path. Starts with that lie then next thing you know.....
Technically Weiss, *RWBY and Team JNPR* explored a continent on foot. You flew from Atlas, crashed and were taken captive by Raven, and teleported to Ruby with Yang before getting on a train to the coast and crashing again...THEN you walked. Ruby and the others WALKED TO HAVEN MOSTLY, they flew over like 2 mountains.
It's important to note how Whitley has a look of unease in that last scene and how Jacques is treating him exactly like he did Weiss. It gives a good idea of why he likely hates Weiss and Winter and didnt have a problem with Weiss screwing herself over by blowing up. He had to go through being the punching bag before and now he has had to do it again and it's probably going to lead to Jacques fucking over of himself in the end when him and Weiss actually come face to face and have an understanding.
@@joshobrien3467 Clover is a huntsman so i don't see how he's running anything or how he's responsible for that. And Ironwood has already expressed that he wants to change things there.
"I want Ruby and Weiss to have more bonding" Fucking second. Remember when half of season 1 was about their relationship? Remember when most of Weiss' character arc in volume 4 was about their relationship? Remember when Ruby did that _super gay shit_ back in v6c1 with the pink rose petals? Give me more dammit.
I feel like graduating them to full Huntsman status-and then subsequently having them take on and defeat the Ace-Ops-is another way for the writers to let the viewer know that the 'party' is reaching higher magnitudes of power. They may not quite be where Huntsmen like Qrow are, and they're still not well-matched against higher-power Maidens like Cinder and Raven, but they're climbing that ladder and getting ever-closer to being strong enough to stand against their foes on even grounds.
@@NotAnEvilMastermind True, but maybe he and Watts are half-brothers or something, because that portrait of younger Jacques looks an awful lot like Watts.
I have to agree with you on this, there's a possibility that ironwood might be using the relic of creation, with the help of the Winter Maiden opening the vault.
Ironwood desperately wants Team RWBY to trust him. I get the impression that he knows they're withholding information, hence the long awkward pauses during his speech, waiting for them to surrender information.
Being granted Huntsmen licenses not unlike being given a "battlefield commission"....Ironwood has the authority to do so and it just makes things easier for everyone....and as he pointed out, they've basically endured a "baptism by fire"....making them continue to resume formal classes at Atlas Academy...would be not only pointless but a luxury they don't have time for in the given circumstances. Easier to just say "everything you experienced during & since the Fall of Beacon" counts as class credit. Plus making Weiss an actual Huntress probably affords her legal protection against Jacques, allows her to declare her legal emancipation from him.
My theory is that for Summer's last mission, she went off on her own without telling anyone, and attempted to kill Salem using her silver eyes, but wasn't able to.
I have a theory. I don't think Ironwood is blind to Ruby keeping a secret from him as well. The way she acts, how the rest of the acts when he asks about it or trust comes up. I think James doesn't want tp press any info out of them and make himself seem desperate for them to tell him everything. He doesn't want to seem greedy or misleading. I think he wants them to decide when its time for the whole truth to come out.
as i recall, the 'games' were initated as a means of quelling people's anger toward each other, or somesuch. so I don't see a few deaths happening in it have much effect on its value. can only imagine how many people died(more or less accidentally) in those first few 'tournaments'.
I honestly think Ironwood is a good man doing the best he can. He's not bribing them, he's not manipulating them. I don't think every decision he's made are correct, but it's more of a lack of someone with a different mindset to balance him out and bounce ideas off of than him being a bad person.
Weiss is now an huntress. Which mean she is legaly an emancipated teen, which is, in the eyes of the laws, the same that an adult in right and resposability. Which also mean her father just lost any and every legal parental power he could have had over her.
Asking a question to the lamp means summoning Jin no? Considering that Ironwood knew about the questions means Oz told them that you can ask questions, but he didn't tell them *how* to ask a question. Qrow seemed to not know about Jin so Ironwood already using the lamp seems unlikely. He does seem to know that Ruby and the rest are hiding something about the lamp though...
12:30 "All of the shit that happened here?" What "shit" is she talking about? Not all that much actually happened on Amity Arena. Penny got temporarily disabled but no one actually died on Amity Arena. Amity, Beacon academy, and the city of Vale were all attacked at the same time so Amity Arena itself doesn't have any particular significance to those events anymore now that Penny's back.
I do genuinely think the Relic of Creation is still in the vault. You'd be surprised how much human ingenuity (even in the real world) can accomplish under extreme adversity, and Solitas is one of the most naturally dangerous landmasses in Remnant.
If Ironwood has used the relic already, and it isn´t inside the vault, then even his trusted team doesn´t know that (otherwise Penny would have hiccup´d from lying.)
Arthur and jock are freaking twins of 2 totally different evil personalities 1 the calm evil and the other the tyrant jocks the tyrant personality and they look so identical accept for there skin and hair color 😂😂
I suggest singing to it as well as listening if you really want to get it down. That's what helped me. If familiarizes your lips and speaking the words.
Eh, I think you're paranoid a bit with Ironwood. He probably has went through being lied to by Oz so...idk He could be expecting this with the RWBY group. personally I'm getting annoyed how you're...being towards Jimmyz but hey at least when shit hits the fan with him you can be like "CALLED IT" lol. Anyways something is definitely being set up, and I have no idea wth is going to actually happen. *Sigh* I miss D&D...and my character who sucks at combat/botches combat rolls but is amazing at everything vs traps & treasures lol.
His recent actions in the current volume reminded me a line Ozpin said to Qrow in early volumes "His heart is in the right place.... he's just..... misguided". Now i know Ozpin wasn't the most reliable individual to the main cast with his secrets, but so far he hasn't missed much in the reading a person trait, I really hope Ironwood actually took Glynda's words to consideration "You are a good person James, you always done what you think it's the best for the people, even against strong protest. But it's high time you stopped talking about trust, and start showing it" when he told Winter, Penny and the Ace-Ops about Salem
@@Dehn396 Oh yes, I forgot Glynda said this. Hmmm both Oz and Miss Goodwitch's says on Ironwood might come into view this chapter 😲 Ah but now that you've said that, I miss Glynda so much now 😔..
