In Attack on Titan there's a character who in the manga no one knows what their gender is. When asked, the writer says that person's gender isn't important to the story or plot so it was what ever the readers wanted it to be. In a way I think Clover is the same way. His sexual orientation isn't important to the plot, only his relationship with Qrow is. Weather it's a romantic relationship or just two close friends, it doesn't mater. What mattered was how the betrayal/death affected them in the end. Like usual, it feels like people put way too much stock into fan theories/shipping and the only person who "queer baited" them was themselves.

I honestly think that Ren has been living in "survival mode" since his parents died. It reminds me of the conversation Taiyang had with Yang about relying on her semblance too much. Ren is all about zen. He hasn't learned how to cope with his emotions. That is why letting himself fall in love is so complicated for him. He will probably see his love for Nora as a weakness, and will try to turn himself into a zen super soldier. What needs to happen is someone needs to give the boy some therapy. He needs to learn to cope with his past, cope with his present, trust in love and embrace emotion.

Not surprising that an old maiden is a bit op, a power that only passes to young women that basically makes its wielder a target by the strongest dark forces in the planet would make anybody get strong fast or die. Living to old age and through a literal mental illness despite that? You'd have to either be the luckiest being in the entire universe or so damn strong you can bitchslap a goliath. And now that we've seen that Fria wasn't just lucky I REALLY want to see younger Fria in combat.

You asked why Penny's robo-flesh wasn't freezing off? Aura protected it, just like it protects clothes and gear. I JUST REALIZED as I watched your reaction (something like the 10th reactor I've watched, I need help) that Penny being a robot isn't why she could go into the ice storm and Winter couldn't. It was because Penny still had her aura and Winter's had broken. Penny wasn't in position to get the power because she was a robot, Penny was there to get the power because she wasn't as badly hurt.

I loved several things about this finale. All of Penny's parts. Her fighting, her compassion, her reluctance to accept more power, even her choice to leave at the end. I imagine that if she stayed Jimmy would try to stuff her into an aura transfer machine. Penny being a maiden also gives me hope for her survival. Not because of the power, she had no need for more of that, but because as powerful as she was as a non maiden she couldn't exist in the same world as our heroes without making them seem lesser. in a narrative sense she pulls focus away from the main cast just by being more capable. Imagine if Captain Marvel was around for all the Avengers movies. But now, as a maiden, she has an excuse to be in the story while contributing to team RWBY's story. Also Nuts & Dolts 4 Life! I liked the glimpse of Cinder's backstory. I've found her completely uninteresting since volume 5. To me she existed solely as a vehicle to get Neo back into the story. Giving us an idea that she has a grudge against the Atlas elite hints at a story that we had no clue to before. After years she finally can contribute more than twirling her mustache. I loved Oscar saving himself and Ozpin. I believe that it is a sign of something I've been thinking all along that no one ever considers: Oz isn't going to take over Oscar. Oz was never going to take over Oscar. Ozpin said in Vol4 how he didn't believe (Ozma) at first, implying that Ozpin still has some identity separate from Ozma. Then there was the bit in 6:3 about Ozma learning to live with his hosts. So I'm thinking whatever happened with the cane hastened the merging process and what we see now is Oscar's final form. I like Winter being a badass. As soon as there is a hole in the ice wall she jumps right in to keep up the fight even with no aura. Taking Cinder's arm was really cool too. I wasn't as surprised as everyone else at Ironwood shooting Oscar. I put his breaking moment at "Loyalty always matters!". No conditions, no other concerns, with me or against me, my way or the highway. And right after the I would sacrifice anything line. He was ready to burn the world at that point. I am glad that they didn't leave it to subtext but brought it front and center for all to see. I can't to see him weaponize Atlas in Vol 8 in order to crush that flying whale, probably with team RWBY in it (it being Atlas or the whale, both work.) And my last favorite thing about the finale was your reaction. I watch a lot of these and your's are consistently one of the best.

Winter is usually represented with the color Blue The Maiden's name is Freya An anagram of Freya is Faery Blue Faery...Pinocchio... Also, in the last episode when Cinder says "show me where you've been hiding her" referring to the Winter Maiden, on the word "her" the camera cuts to PENNY.

You never have to apologize for getting heavy, because that's real life. And we appreciate you. This gave me all of the feels in so many ways, you and the show. Because we all question if we are doing the right thing. As a friend, parent, student, partner, etc. And we rarely know till it's too late. As for the volume....I feel for them all, including Cinder at this point. She really has few options open to her. Salem's lap dog again, or go solo and make an enemy of Salem, who controls all Grimm. Or see RWBY and get wrecked again. So much power, yet can't do much against certain people. Even other maiden's have wrecked her one on one

I love how Cinder thinks she's the best, but she's had the full maiden powers for less than a year. The Winter maiden likely had it for decades. Looks like they don't need physical strength to use the powers, so experience beats pure force. I also believe that Cinder is slowly becoming Grimm. The line where she says that Atlas has the power and she doesn't want to starve anymore is probably alluding to her upbringing, but I feel it's also something about her arm slowly changing her. Her shoulder isn't looking too good, and it almost looks like the arm is growing into her more than before. I'm hoping by the end of the final season we have a mostly grimm Cinder. It would certainly show how she gave up everything to get what she wanted. The hard cut to darkness and the Ozpin's voice was a really good choice. It's similar to the narration in volumes 1 and 3 where Ozpin and Salem were narrating. I'm happy Ozpin is back. Watching from within Oscar for ages, he seems to have learned about his mistakes and his paranoia. His speech about fear is likely referring to himself. I'm excited for him to do what is right rather than what is best for the greater good. Also he probably can train Penny much faster than Salem could train Cinder. (How does her robot side interface with the powers? Does she get an instruction manual? Easier learning? Is she becoming... a real human?) Lastly, if you think about the fairy tale aspect of the show, the blue fairy made Pinocchio into a real boy with magic. Next volume will be amazing.

It's a little funny to me hearing you talking about your feelings involving Monty, because not too long ago I was saying almost the exact same thing in the discord. I mean, I haven't picked a career path because of him or his work, but I've thought about how he's gone, how the people he's left behind have to feel, and how I won't get the chance to meet him, and... it hurts. Except that I never knew the guy, so what right do I have to feel beat up over it? There are people who were close to him, and it makes sense why they are in pain over it, but I'm not one of them. And it makes you feel weird, and maybe a bit guilty, but the pain is still there. I've been informed by the people in your server that apparently this sort of thing is called "second hand grief". So, I don't know if it's weird or not, but there's a term for it, and clearly other people have felt it too, so... make of that what you will.

I think that the powers a new maiden gets depends on her personality. Glynda in volume 3 said that "no two summers are alike". Spring wouldn't just have a soft breeze, Raven has ice powers because she is a cold person.

Penny still has aura so the cold doesnt hurt her like the grim arm and winter who's aura is spent.

Ironwood's story reminds me a lot of Salem's back story in the way they tried to stay the good guy but eventually fell.

I adore the whole theme of fear throughout this volume. Just... ACK. Then credits song, Ozpin’s speech, Ironwood slowly becoming no better than Salem... IT’S SO GOOD.

Another year of Arryn reactions draws to a close. Now we begin the long hiatus. I agree this finale was great. I think after the totally killed it last episode it wasn't that bad that RWBY didn't do a whole lot. I don't know how we're going to survive until October with Salem's giant whale hanging over all of us. As for the stuff about Monty, your feelings are always valid, and your reasons for pursuing your passion are always valid. The RWBY community has been really important to me too, and I got into it after you did. Your videos are what got me more engaged with the RWBY fandom, and that's been really great for me. When you think about it... assuming no one kills penny (again) she could potentially be the winter maiden forever... because she's a robot and would presumably not die of old age. Therefore she'd be the only maiden that could potentially stay a maiden, which makes things much easier now you only need to have 3 backups for the other maidens

How are they thinking big picture? Their "plan" was to stand together and fight ... Salem and her army. Now that they have Penny, the winter maiden, Ironwood doesn't have the staff, and Atlas is left to fall as well as Mantle.

At 20:08 I can't help but think: "This is Penny and her girlfriend Ruby and Ruby's girlfriend Weiss."

I'm a software engineer, but double majored in Comp Sci and Digital Arts, so took a 3D modeling & animation class. Quickly learned to appreciate how much time it took to create even something less than a minute (and the fear of wondering if it will render in time to be turned in :O lol). That aside, definitely get the fear. After turning in my final assignment and realizing not all the top companies were dreaming of having me (and derping interviews for the ones that were interested), definitely feared I might have picked too odd a career path. *Disclaimer: invalid opinions* This show's fanbase (not saying for all, just the ones with voices that happen to be the most heard), kind of has a problem with shipping. It's like the Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee thing. People's fantasies have trouble determining the difference between friendship and love. Because, they _are_ the same thing. That's what happened with volume 6. Some people in the fandom (FNDM, I guess) treated handholding as if it equated to _fucking,_ the reviews saw this as the writers catering to that side of the fandom when in reality they intended nothing, and the spiral continued downward. It could've been the same thing with Clover and Qrow, with people believing their banter was... _"flirty"._ Yeesh. I don't think the problem will be clear to people until we have a _straight_ made-up couple, and that's, kind of sad if that's the truth. That's just my hot take. TL;DR: RWBY is an example of how you should think for yourself more than just copying the opinions of others. Volume 7 was pretty dope, imo 👌

Ironwood's problem is that *his* Big Picture hinges on what he can practically achieve through discipline, manpower, etc etc. The others' big picture has a lot more trust and optimism in it. Higher stakes, bigger win, *if* they win. But yeah, don't shoot farmboys and drop them into a pit. Not cool. Love your reactions as always. Good luck with studies/work.

I always knew Penny would end up with the Maiden powers. Ironwood had her built as a back up plan. Why else would he agree to an aura powered android? Ironwood brought Penny to Beacon, just in case Ozpin was not able to convince Pyrrah to be the Fall Maiden. It is the same reason why Penny was rebuilt in Atlas, to be a back up should something happen to Winter Schnee.

It's a very nice sentiment with the shield but I'm pretty sure the Gravity Burst and Extended Shield are Technology not Arua, at least definitely the extended wings because it has the same design of Hard Light. Last episode Team RWBY said: Yang and Blake will look for JNR and Ruby and Weiss are going for the Maiden.

I think the thing that changed was that for the first time in hundreds of years two relics where in close proximity to each other. The initial fight between Salem and Ozma was caused by Ozma’s mission to recall the gods, by uniting the relics. His decision to take out the relic of knowledge and then immediately travel to the location of the next relic may have concerned Salem that he may think it’s time. And she believes the hearts of men are easily swayed, that they can’t be united and that the Gods would once again destroy humanity and leave her there alone because if humanity is judged it will always be found wanting. She too is afraid.

Clover is not in any way, shape, or form "Kill Your Gays." His relationship with Crow was Bromance that may have skirted the edge, but did not in any overt way reach into Gay territory (it's doubtful they would do that when _they haven't even had the Bees kiss yet afaik!_) People ignore what was right in front of them--Clover died to his fable--nothing more, nothing less. Look up Aesop's "The Fisherman's Luck".

I think why Salem wanted to go to Atlas herself because If you remember at the end of vol 5( I think) Emerald and Mercury watched as Salem created Grimm. Hazel come up to them and said: " There is an old saying, if you want something done right...do it yourself." She wanted to go do it herself because of the failed attempt on Heaven Academy, Cinder went off to do her own things. Plus she even said that Wats and Tyrian were just setting the stage for her.

i think for the winter madden.. she was the oldest i think compared to some others that got killed a bit more in life.. she had years .. decades of training and experiencing her power where she had full controlled and knew what she was doing

I don't comment a whole lot, but your words about mourning Monty really resonated with me. I came upon RWBY shortly before the release of volume 3, so I'll never get to meet him either. It's one of my biggest disappointments that I can never thank Monty. His words and by extensions his characters and world helped me find my own courage to move forward. I'm in graphic design now and I only got up the courage to go back to school because of a combination of lucky events and RWBY, dumb as it sounds. I cried during the finale because I too knew what day it was. Maybe I also don't have a right to be this sad, maybe I'm projecting a bit, but you don't forget the people who inspire you to be brave. We SHOULD mourn them. That's all I wanted to say.

I agree with you about Ironwood personally. Well...I do still like him as a character, but what I mean is, for all the good he did in volume 4 with Yang's arm and treating Weiss right, and for how good he was to the team earlier in this volume, now he's making all the wrong choices. And it's strange to see so many people on RU-vid, by which I mean at least two RU-vidrs and people in their comments, Stanning so hard for him and saying things like 'Team RWBY are clearly in the wrong here'. Especially considering...Salem was on her way before team RWBY and co even got to Argus, let alone Atlas, and even if she hadn't been Ironwood's plan was doomed to failure from the start. Plus y'know...The whole...literally shooting a literal child in cold blood thing. Ozcar may have all of old man Ozma crammed into him, but he's still Oscar. He's still younger than Ruby was at the start of the series...He's still a child.

And that was Volume 7 and man was this season very depressing. It started out so much fun like all of the seasons do and than instantly with a snap of a finger everything immediately just turned dark in 0.5 seconds. Also I feel like this is the first time since Volume 3 that all of Team RWBY not just the core team but everyone else has had a major loss. Up until this volume they were able to win and be successful, Volume 4 surviving the real world by defeating that horrific grimm, Volume 5 coming together along with conquering their biggest obstacles along the way, Volume 6 they were the David to the Goliath and were able to get to their next destination only to have all of that taken away. Qrow is arrested, Oscar/Ozpin is separated from the group, Ironwood and probably Winter betraying them all for the sake of their own version of logic, Cinder having the Spring Relic, and Salem finally making her move. As Dr. Strange said at the end of Infinity War, we're in the endgame now. Speaking of which my prediction for Volume 8, one of course it will be another journey season like with 4 and 6 group RWBY making a run to Vacuo but along with that I feel like the opening of Volume 8 could be a mixture of what happened at the end of Dragon Prince Season 2 mixed with the opening of Avengers Infinity War with Ironwood now pledging his loyalty and army to Salem and Salem doing something to the Atlas military possibly making them Human/Grimm hybrids, and Aceops now being her new generals and having them hunt down team RWBY because they have the Winter Maiden, along with wiping out half of the Atlas population and leaving the rest to be her slaves. Winter could possibly make an escape attempt form all of this and freeing Qrow and Robyn along with Oscar and Whitley to go and reunite with RWBY. But hey anything could happen next season I could be completely wrong. Which leads me to my final comment and again Arryn, just wanted to say Thank You for being awesome with these reactions. I understand if you won't come back for Volume 8 because of the news that broke in December but hopefully you do. And I wish you good luck in getting a job as an animator. That's all I got to say.
