RWBY VOLUME 8 CHAPTER 6 REACTION | CINDER BACKSTORY 

With Cinders story I see exactly how she ended up where she is because she feels she needs enough power no one can ever treat her like that again and thinks the maiden powers is key to that even if it means suffering more to get there.

I love Cinder's backstory cuz it really pieces everything about her psychology together, I think. The constant thirst for power so she can never be laughed at and abused again is the biggest thing that drives her. Salem knows this about her so instead of punishing her for her failures, she gives Cinder another chance to prove herself. Punishing her, as we saw through the flashes of what Cinder was thinking, would only lead to her rebellion. And then there's how she emulates her abusers. She tries to act like both Salem and the Madam throughout the entire show. The way she speaks, the way she dresses, even the way she walks. It's really sad and it's definitely given me a new perspective on Cinder. Obvi she's still evil and a murderer but I just understand better now. Great reaction as usual ❤️❤️❤️

Despite all the trauma Cinder went through in her backstory, it still doesn’t completely excuse her for the power-hungry monster she’s become now.

Cinder’s story doesn’t make us sympathize with her or justify her actions, but rather give us insight into why she is the way she is. Being powerless and mistreated her whole childhood until finally snapping and lusting for power. Also her continuous failures throughout the series drive her further down that path. I think her ultimate goal is to get all of the maiden’s power so that she can defeat Salem herself and no longer feel like a servant… That being said I hope she fails again and I hate her 😁

Imagine how things could have gone if the Huntsman hadn't been a complete idiot? He spent seven years training a literal slave how to fight. Her shock collar was visible for all to see, and when she killed her evil masters, he had the gall to threaten her for freeing herself with the skills that he taught her. What did he expect was going to happen? And what was he thinking drawing his weapon on her like that? If he had been a true Huntsman - protector of those in need - he would have rescued her the first time he met her. Instead, his betrayal (from Cinder's POV) probably was the catalyst that made Cinder realize that she could never trust anybody, and that power was all that mattered. By this point, she's far beyond redemption, but I wonder what might have been if things had just gone a little bit differently...

I feel bad for her, but it doesn’t change a thing.

"I can't believe we're getting Cinder's backstory 8 volumes in!" That is exactly the main problem with this episode; I liked it well enough and I get why Cinder is the way she is. But this was done far far too late into the series that it becomes very redundant at this point; it's cool we finally have context but again, it should've been done at around during volume 3 or 4, definitely not at volume 8 when the series is nearly a decade old!

Star if anything.... her backstory is terrible in terms of writing if anything it is underwhelming 😑
