As an England supporter 100%. Our match against France was really tense, looking forward to facing NZ and Canada seeing as their 2nd and 3rd on the table respectively.

As things stand, they will have to beat Les Bleues before they get a crack at The Roses. I suspect both of the big European teams will have cracked a smile at the Fern's inability to deal with the catch and drive from the lineout and their lack of an effective kicking game.

@@DarkMoonWayfarer It takes years to develop a kicking game with that sort of length. It's the length that kills you. The other front row weren't much better. He's making the best of what he has, which is to use his 7's players and to play a 7's type of game. That will get you so far. until you find yourself trying to run everything from your own 22. The Ferns last coach identified the problem, the English and French were able to bully them. Not seen anything to suggest he's produced an answer to that problem. The way to prep for playing against those sorts of teams is to play those sorts of teams and they haven't done that.

I'd love to see a France NZ match up.

@@neill392 agree this Ferns side still not the *finished product* yet, but tbf they've made *huge progress* since the team that failed EOYT 2021. When they were down *17 - 0* n came back to thump Aus 41 - 0 tells me a *huge progressive step* has been taken to be a *serious threat* in this W.C.

If NZ get to play either or both of those teams she will perform well given the same amount of ball however it's unlikely she will, given the stronger opponents. She is a strike attacking weapon for NZ.

Unfortunately in all women's sport at present there is a huge gulf between the best and the rest, be patient, competition will get better over time. Unfortunately they are having too much pressure heaped upon them by the media and general public to perform at higher levels than they are able to. More experience and more funding will see the gaps between them shrink.

It is clear after yesterday's game against England that despite the score, France is the team to beat in this RWC and the only thing that is capable of stopping France on the day is the French players themselves.

The opening match at Eden park attracted a larger audience than all the womens RWC 2017 crowds combined in Ireland . Personally I think people who complain about the lack of equity between male and female sports in sports need to put the money where their mouths are and turn up.

Hollie Davidson is an absolutely wonderful ref, she’s very firm but fair in both the mens and womens matches I’ve seen her ref. She’s an absolute asset to rugby refereeing.

@@AmazinglyAwkward Hello, interesting comment: I'll accept that Hollie is one of the better lady referees, but there are still times when she 'blanks' and does not understand what is happening - because she does not yet have the experience required. I'm an RFU referee assessor, and this scenario is all too common these days with referees who have never played at any level. Look at Luke Pearce in the Premisership, nowhere as good a referee as his father was - because, aged 15, Luke started refereeing in Devon. Read the book, knew all the laws, but applying them preventatively? - still can't do it properly, just like Hollie. Suggestion for the lady referees: go talk to some old-school prop forwards, and you might well learn thing or two!

watching as an England fan yesterday, it was a bicycle clips job for me and I don't fancy England's chances if they do make it to the final and France is the opposition. France made over 173 tackles to stop England and still had enough reserve to engage in beautiful attacking French rugby, for the try, and should have had a second. France's world ranking of 4 is a joke and as for England, I fancy their chances more against the BF (even at home with a hostile crowd) than against France in a final.

@@gramsci279hegemony8 I agree 100% I thought France only losing by 6pts and losing 2 of their top players, with all possession, territory and penalties against them, yet still showing enterprising rugby played unreal! I thought *Unforced errors* is what let *England off the hook,* France dropped too much of the ball when on attack. If you make the bigger Forward Pack of England defend defend defend the gaps will soon appear. And if there's one team that can defend and exploit gaps is the Ferns.
