I loved this debate as Jordan was my favorite player and probably still is. However, when you look at advanced metrics which paint really accurate pictures of teams and players, it becomes very obvious that Lebron is a more efficient, more well rounded, more effective player. I am guilty of falling in love with the mythology of Jordan, but that mythology often judges Jordan for 6 years, not the full 15

Lebron James got locked up by the mavericks defense. The "choking" narrative was created by analysts like skip Bayless. Remove all the narratives and storylines from the game and your left with the game. It's literally a chess game out there and is way more nuanced and complex than LeBron simply "choking". The mavericks threw all types of defenders at LeBron constantly and froze him out of the paint and made him stay on the perimeter. Lebron was a weak perimeter shooter at the time and couldn't make the mavs pay for doing so therefore having a bad series. He learned and recouped and never ran into that issue in another series again. That's the real game of basketball.

@Paul Hammer except Dallas swept the defending champions so they were really good. They played lebron really well. It was both. Dallas defense was similar to how the spurs always guarded him. Make him shoot and when he drives, pack the paint and give him awkward angles so he can't get his shot off comfortably, but yeah he was def in his own head as well. I think all the pressure that year got to him by the finals. Plus Miami didn't have the level of shooters they had from 2012 and on so it's not like lebron could kick it out to the three point line. Dallas wasnt orried about Miamis perimeter shooting.
