He said a ton without saying anything. He is being ambiguous because he only knows what he knows at this point. His concern is making sure the characters stay true to who they are. At this moment, one is bi and one is straight. This is not going to happen overnight, especially big and building storypoints. Buddie is huge and when they go there, keep in mind they have to go down the slide and keep the fans invested because what's going to top them admitting feelings? It's got to be done very gently. That said, Ryan is not against it at all. He likes where the relationship is because it's true to who the characters are right now. He doesn't care where they go so long as it stays true to who Eddie is. Don't make him into Buck just because it's a thing to do, or good for PR or anything other than a natural course of things. That's all he's saying. Just like in real life, let it evolve how it evolves. That's all he's saying. He grinned a few times so he's got no problem with it.
Ryan Guzman seems to love doing villain arc Eddie so much his voice is changing to villain appropriate. I love 💗 him as the villain. He is so fun and dynamic. And much more self-aware than he usually is. Ryan is right that Eddie shouldn't ever have a stereotypical coming out, as Eddie's personality is too dark and gritty for that (even if it is not obvious when he is with Buck). It would be too saccharine for him. Also, Eddie clearly *believes* he is heterosexual. So it would need a plot point first (getting accidentally drugged with EA-3167 would be perfect) for him to become self aware, by weakening his Unconscious's influence on him.
Yeah that’s also what I’m getting here. Eddie’s character is not ready to explore such an arc yet, but like he said it’s up to the writers what happens in the futr.
@UniDocs_ Are you suggesting to drug-rape Eddie to make him bi? Dude, that's beyond diaturbing. Get a teraphy. I'm reporting your comment to RU-vid admin👿👿👿.
I really do think they are only meant to be best friends. I believe in platonic soulmates as well. People who are meant to be in each others lives but are beyond friends. I dont think it would be realistic to have them be in a relationship, but thats just my opinion.
Right. They remind me of Ben Affleck & Matt Damon. Women come and go (at least for Ben), but their relationship stays. And there's never any sign that it was or would be sexual/romantic.
I saw on another Cameo with Lou Ferrigno Junior that it was supposed to be Eddie coming out. Something tells me that Ryan doesn't want to go down that rabbit hole. He can be all sparkly eyes and smiles but the writing is on the wall.
Everybody blames the previous showrunner but I always felt that it was on Ryan not wanting to do it or who knows maybe a combination of both. That's why I think it's not gonna happen. Plus, Lou said it was supposed to be Eddie who he was going to be coupled with not Buck so what stopped them going on that direction?? They won't say it was ryan bc people will go mental and cancel him... that for me confirmed my theory.....
No. Like Ryan said, he has been *_exchanging Buddie clips with Oliver._* He wouldn't do it if he was uncomfortable about the idea. Actually, there are several clues about the matter, derived from Tim Minear's interview with The Wrap (ICYMI, Tim Minear is the co-creator and current show runner of this series): - Tim wanted to give Buck a serious romantic relationship. He thought Buck has been stuck in the hamster wheel of hook-up - break-up relationships for too long. - Tim originally planned to have Lucy (a female firefighter, one of Buck's romantic interests in the past) to drive the helicopter that save Bobby & Athena. - The actress who used to played Lucy got another job, a role in a new series on Fox (which ironically is the replacement of 9-1-1 there). It seems like she would be a reguler there, which is better than being a guest star in 9-1-1. - The actress became unavailable (possibly withdrew from 9-1-1), so Tim had to change the script. It seems like originally Tim paired Tommy with Eddie, while Buck was paired with Lucy. I guess he wanted Eddie to be the first one who came out instead of Buck. It would give fans an element of surprise (and more drama), eventhough the big plot would be still aligned with the fans' prediction. However, since Lucy was not available, he changed the script and paired Tommy with Buck, making Buck the first one who come out between the two. He still wanted to surprise the fans though, by making fans thought *_Buck was trying to get EDDIE'S ATTENTION_* instead of Tommy's (that sly fox😈😈😈).
I was a Buddie stan. But after season 5 I let go of that idea bc not putting them together after 3 seasons and then suddenly do it will feel forced.. like they actually entered the friendzone.. and like Oliver said If they decide to put them together it has to be with excellent writing so it doesn't feel forced. For now I'm just enjoying Buck with Tommy and how happy Buck seems to be.
I guess Tim Minear, the original show runner and co-creator of 9-1-1 initially planned to pair them together. However, Tim had to leave the series to develop and to helm the spin-off, 9-1-1: Lone Star. His replacement seem didn't want (or dare) to go that way. Once Tim was back (in season 7), we got bi Buck canon.
Yeah, feels strange, like he's saying exploring queer identities somehow negate the experience of straight men or that we shouldn't explore characters that discover and explore their own sexualities because it might make straight men uncomfortable or insecure in their own identity. To me it unfortunately confirms that he's the reason we're not getting a Buck+Eddie relationship.
I think he gave an on answer but basically it's never going to happen between the two. I think Buck coming out is the compromise. I actually think Tommy is better for him than Eddie is.
@@jonathanvanier He’s talking about the current plot point where Eddie is straight and Buck is bi and they still have a good friendship together. I think what he’s saying is so far that is the truth for his character and that’s what he’s going to live by as of now. Which I kinda see why because as an actor playing a part, imagining his character as having an arc that is not yet set to stone might make it harder for him to portray the character accurately
@@jonathanvanier I didn't get this 🤔. I've understood people who are vulnerables shouldn't be considerated de facto as queer people. It's kind of a way to tell us Eddie is straight. Well, for now... but I agree with you, it appears like we won't have Buddie...
Everyone was/is getting upset that Buck didn't kiss Eddie. He instead kissed Tommy. Oliver had said long ago, he was open to it, while Ryan always has avoided saying yes or no but always gives this generic answer. When Lou said Eddie and Tommy relationship fell through, I automatically thought Ryan didn't want to do it.
This is not about what the actors want or not, in the end almost everything that comes out of their mouths are things that the production told them to say, prefabricated answers and questions that lead to nothing because they consider it would be dangerous for the well-being of the product they are selling They won't make Buddie canon, but they will continue baiting to keep people interested, an overused strategy that I wish would disappear once and for all. The best thing they could do is end this and give the characters life-changing plots, like making Tommy Buck's official romantic partner and making him a main character, cutting out this nonsense with the Shannon clone and give Eddie a relationship that involves real compromise, I would even consider making him a father again if abc is brave enough to give a fresh new direction to these characters that have been stuck for years.
I love the way he answered this question! Being vulnerable with a close friend that happens to like the same gender doesn't always mean there's something there :D
I think it will some where down the line. I mean he's got to come to terms with it. Buck feels that way about him but since he said he's not like that Buck will take what he can get. I think that why he turned it down right away. I really just like what they have already. Time will tell one way or the other. I know a lot of fans wants it and others don't.
As I was sure, Buck is bi , I'm also sure that Eddie is Not straight . And I will never stop shipping them I love them like family and they belong together 😢
Please let Buck and Eddie stay as brotherly friends, I love their bond. Let’s not ruin that with romance, just because. Also, I think Buck and Tommy are well suited for each other, love them❤
Why do you think Ryan doesn't want that? He's a huge fan of Buddie and the ship's biggest supporter, but he's being honest here. He's not running the show and that's up to Tim.
@Buckleydiaz. I mean, the original idea was that it was supposed to be Tommy and Eddie together but then they shifted to Buck and Tommy instead. I wonder what happened
@@MatheusRodrigues-gm5tf First, Tommy/Eddie wasn't "the" original idea. It was just one of many ideas that was discussed. Second, it's the time constrain. It's easier to add Tommy to Buck's story line than Eddie, who still has to deal with Shannon traumas, depression, PTSD and whatever repression he has if any. It would even need another 10 ep to resolve before he can start his life again. On the contrary, Buck is kinda already free from traumas (after the coma) so it's like he's ready to explore again. That's why it's more suitable to give Tommy to Buck.
@@MatheusRodrigues-gm5tf The actress who plays Natalia no longer wanted to continue the show and she had other work, while they kept marisol to ensure the continuity of the story, nothing less and nothing more, not because Ryan is against that.
@@Buckleydiaz. I am pro- Buddie and I know all the stuff you've said. But, Ryan does holding back things on Buddie in each interview... He tried to hide it... but I really don't think he is pro-Buddie too.
Well that was the most definitive that it's not happening but I'm okay. I love Evan and Tommy, I just wish they would get some air time because Lou Ferrigno Junior only has four episodes ending with episode 10 and he is not signed on for season 8. That makes me very nervous, as of now that comes directly from a cameo he has on his page where you can pay to have him send you a message.
Yeah, if nothing else, ABC will want a strong sophomore showing and you don't achieve that by getting rid of the most buzzworthy aspect of your freshman season.
That pretty much says, that storyline will never happen, no matter what the fans would love to see. I guess, it's time to walk away, from the show. After 7 years, 6 wonderful, with this last one being a complete disappointment, not feeling like the seasons before. I knew when ABC Disney took over it would kill the show as we knew it. It, now has. It's sad, star wars, Marvel, Doctor who, hundreds of childhood memories ruined with the live action remakes, and now 9-1-1. I really abhore bob iger.
Not really he was just talking about he loves the dynamic of Eddie and Buck right now as one being straight and the other being bi, but like he said it’s not up to him if that changes in the future.
No it hasn't season 7 is really good way better than season 5 and 6 those seasons were disappointing. Even if Buck and Eddie don't get together doesn't mean the show is ruined. On abc the show has been doing really good in ratings so don't start the whole Disney abc ruined the show like star wars. Fox is also owned by Disney last I checked so there's that. I wish fans would go back to caring about actual storylines not just ships
@mauricebeltcher8764 the rating are higher because abc is bigger and has farther reach than Fox. The flavor and feel of the show is completely different. It used to be a mixture of comedy, drama and procedural. 3 episodes of the 8 this season were decent, the other 5, not so much. Again, the new fans will make up for the loss. It is what it is. Disney a scourge on the entertainment industry.
@@davidgood6519The flow felt off because they had to shorten the season to 10 eps because of the strike. Each season usually has 18, and season 8 will also have more eps. They had to fit multiple storylines in shorter time frames
@myouniverse0613 we'll see how this season ends. The first season was very different from 2-6, but the feeling and dynamic was the same. 7, 2 episodes I felt as similar, last night's being the best, with the 100th as the 2nd.
