I have never been an engineer. But I would say that it was a very good thing that that many rolls happening in the air instead of more of them happening on the ground, likely saved a heck of a lot of injuries to Preece. But that final hit on the roof certainly had to rattle him.

Not sure about the window net, but I'll bet NASCAR is concerned that the roof hatch came open very early in the accident. You can see it during that first massive set of rolls, wide open. It's a great feature to have, but darn if I know how'd you keep it secured during something like THAT.

Grass does not cause the cars to get airborne, the unmaintained ground underneath it allows more air to get under it! When NASCAR started putting pavement in the critical areas of the race tracks, usually back in the day through all the turns and extending several hundred yards after the turn, to find out a couple years after they started doing it, that the grass itself was not causing cars to flip or get airborne and then tumble. It was the unmaintained earth below it that was the problem

"few years"? Rusty Wallace survived a flip very similar to this in the early '90s. I feel like it looks worse than it is, honestly. The really bad ones are where the car decelerates suddenly and that didn't happen in this wreck.

In looking at this again, is his window net completely disconnected??? If not it is hanging on by a thread. 3:30 for the best shot. If so, that could be bad. I didn’t see his arm or anything get outside the car, but scary nonetheless. Needs to be looked at by nascar

honnestly its so hard to determine at that angle but appears that is questionable wheather the net is indeed in tact with the door as for not seeing anything sticking out , all he can do is wrangle that steering wheel and hold on dear life , thats all them boys can do and even dale junior said it his self , i feel this wreck is worse then the time rocket man ryan blaney went flying down daytona

Very comparable to Rusty Wallace's wild flips in the 90's. The durability and safety of the car came into question with he and Larson at the last plate race, but this is a testimony that they are on the right path to the safest cars yet.

Roof flaps weren't going to help with that one. They were taken out of the equation at the outset when the car went half a roll in the opposite direction and got airborne because of the air under it.
