It's too bad this interview didn't take place after his illegal hit to the head on the Wings' Hronek. He says skin color shouldn't play a role in hockey. I agree 100%. Let's see if the league gives him the 3-5 game suspension he deserves for the hit or if they go easy on him for fear of ruffling a few PC Police feathers.
@@nsant Also, it wasn't evident in the replay during the game but if you watch the replay in the link I shared, you can see Reaves' skates clearly leave the ice.
Three to five games. Hmm. That hit was on December 14th. I don’t see any reference to that hit from the Department of NHL Player Safety. Plenty of other hearings from games after the 14th. It wasn’t illegal during the game nor after. No penalty, no suspensions. Hronek’s gotta keep his head up.
@@NWA320DRVR I saw the hit live and given how soft the NHL has become (compared to old style, Original 6), I was happy no penalty was called. It appeared to be a good, clean, open ice hit. I was also pissed that nobody on the Wings team had the balls to go after Reaves. McCarty would have gotten some significant payback. Chiarot gave it a go a little later but lost an edge before he could do any damage. But then I watched the video that I posted here and after seeing what Reaves did prior to the hit, I'm of the opinion that a suspension was warranted. Especially given Reaves' history (he's been suspended three times by the NDPoS). But, as you have pointed out, it's apparent the NDoPS disagrees.
