WREXHAM FTW!!! What a kerfuffle this has caused, even in the USA! New Jersey USA here, and I'm loving this for you guys. I know Ryan and Rob are dying not being present for all that tearful joy going on up there.
The vision / insanity / financial risk in investing in a league one side whilst in the National league cannot be overstated. When that degree of belief is met with the sheer blood guts and thunder of the players and the acumen and experise of the managerial staff. I cannot ever recall a plan like this coming off, and not only that, but including the wider community in the remit. Incredible job. By everyone, but it started with Rob and Ryan and a vision.
Wrexham having previously played in European competition long ago when they,Cardiff,Swansea and Newport had a route there via the Welsh Cup before Welsh football politics intervened in the early 90s.
@dubsy4835 Who are Cardiff? As things stand, the highest placed Welsh team in the Football League. And, if you are Welsh, your CAPITAL f***ing CITY! Tw@t!
Yes, well done Wrexham from A Cardiff city diehard, you've done yourselves and Wales proud, 2 YRS 2 promotions, wish us Blues had your drive. See you next season.
Congratulations to all Wrexham-family. (Aston Villa fan) Well done, and best of luck for the comming season… enjoy it and don’t listen to all the envy folks…
Just thought some1 from near-by Wrexham should comment so here goes >>> I don't have Netflix or Amazon tv or whatever but Congratulations to WFC, nice1 you Dragons!!
If I was them I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation either. Let them celebrate this special moment,we all need some fun in these difficult times. Congratulations Wrexham and see you at Vicarage Road in the Championship in a couple of years!
Well done, Wrecsam! But next season will be much harder. Getting to the Championship (the 2nd tier of footy in England+Wales) would be a magnificent achievement if it could be completed. But to go higher than that would require MASSIVE investment. And Ipswich Town, promoted from League One into the Championship a year ago, might be a perfect model to follow (as it looks as if Ipswich may very well be promoted to the Premier League in a few weeks). But Ipswich didn't start off as a non-league team as Wrecsam was a year ago. Well done!
Good news story ......... keep it up. Just watch the bigger clubs higher up start studying the finances - always happens - when a perceived smaller club gets success they try to use financial over spending as a reason to deny them success
the sentiment part (with the staffs and/or players) could be a problem as they achieve higher pos, at some point they need to replaced (sacked) someone with anyone better.
It wasn’t really a performance they just played a game. Forest Green where always going to get spanked. Unfortunatly the higher you go the more expensive it gets so although I wish them all the best the Netflix Hollywood party could end unless a magic tree of cash arrives to keep investing.
True about the expense. But the higher you go, now the English Football League will kick some cash their way. It's explained properly in season 1 of the docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham. So, yes, expenses will go up, but now they will have help paying for those expenses. Let's not forget the marketing genius that is Ryan Reynolds. He has made in incredible impact on the clubs bottom line through sponsorships and merchandise.
Well, I'm sorry but when is somebody going to mention Stockport? Twice in 3 seasons they have beaten Wrexham to a league title, with a fraction of the media attention and budget. Surely that's the real fairytale?
