Agreed. He would’ve messed up all the great young talent the Blue Jackets have amassed. I really have to question Kekalainen & Davidson on his hiring in the first place.
I'm a Wings fan and the Wings won a cup in spite of Babcock not because of him. Who knows how many cups the Wings would have won if he wasn't the coach. I was so happy when the Leafs took him away from us. The things he did to Commie, Modano and Franzen and many other players are bullshit.
Yep, And the ways that the high profile man buries stuff, stuffs it under a rug when the team is winning is just insane. You never heard of those things when we was winning with Detroit. I'm a Wings fan, and was surprised. But It is sad and I agree with you, what could have been.....
@@shawnreems493 At least 3. As it was it was 2 as Malkin should have been suspended in game 3 for his starting a fight under 2 minutes in game 2. Wings up 2-0 going back to Detroit. Would have been a quick series but Malkin had a huge game 3 changed the momentum of the series.
Credit to Biz and Whitney for doing this. If there is even one abusive coach that gets fired bc of this (and it already happened!) then the world is a better place.
Lol, I first thought, man, Ray Whitney is really fired up for a mild mannered fella. Then I realized it was Ryan Whitney and it all made sense. Love the fire brother.
These guys are literally "journalism bros". Whitney may not be articulate in the professional sense but they actually did their homework and showed it. That is much more than what we're getting in other places.
They have credibility & integrity. They also admit their mistakes, apologize, and right any wrongs on a regular basis. During COVID in particular they corrected some of their wrong/bad takes in a very open & honest manner.
I really don’t think these guys are Bitches like you said!!! These are to guys that played at the highest of the elites in the world, and never seen one of these dudes back down from anything!! Would love to see whoever wrote that drop the mitts with any of either of those guys, you would get speed bagged instantly
@@stanleyfranks9891Lol you're crying like a women. He just wanted to get to know them and that's why he's resigning? I guess he lost his stones then. The Bluejackets wouldn't have hired him if they weren't behind him. Obviously it didn't have to do with getting to know players.
Blue Jackets got a gift from the hockey gods by getting rid of the biggest jackass. The other concern is why would they go with such a loser ? I have to question their head office decision makers. Good work BizNasty for finishing off Babcock……he’s last name is spot on.
@@calebkent6706 I would be worried about playing for a front office that hired babcock. Bad vibes over there in cbus. That Severson contract was shocking. Their best 2 players are defense-optional wingers. I like the future in Anaheim better, especially with a guy like Verbeek at the helm. Not a fan of either team but it’s plain to see that Anaheim is building the right way.
Babcock seems to have an issue understanding the difference between public and private matters. Its ironic that he is now exposed by a player making a private team matter public. Its his own flaw being used against him.
I talked to a UofS Huskys player over the summer, before any of this came out. The young guy told me that everything bad you've ever heard about Babcock is true.
I see two possibilities here: (a) Babcock is so old and weird that he truly had no idea that in this day and age, many players' photo rolls are likely to contain, in addition to pics of family and pets, some innocent but still embarrassing material no player would willingly share; OR (b) Babcock knows that many players' photo rolls are likely to contain embarrassing material no player would willingly share, and he wanted to know which guys had such material on their phones. Either way, it's dysfunctional and bizarre conduct.
@@jimbrown5070 wow you don’t even know your history right…the Browns have never won a Super Bowl, and only won the pre AFL-NFL merger NFL championship 4 times (50,54,55,64)…the Ottawa Senators have won the Stanley Cup 11 times…go count those rings up while you watch a sexual predator be the QB of your team…what a disgrace
Hearing what Chelios said and Franzen saying he's the worst person I ever met, might just be a sign to stay far far away from this guy? But I still don't understand why a man let alone a hockey player would let anyone, even a coach talk like that to you. I would of knocked him out. And if Babcock cried to anyone about it, I would of exposed him. LOL.
I’m also curious if/when we hear from players when he was coaching in the WHL. Side note, Babcock and Bill Peters both coached for the Spokane Chiefs (WHL). While obviously successful record-wise, both are now disgraced ex-NHL coaches. Bizarre.
assuming the narrative being peddled by some retired players that never played for Babcock is in any bit correct; Brendan Shanahan had to put up with all these interpersonal conflicts, bullying and apparently watching Franzen be attacked at the hands of Babcock for at least a season, then goes on to hire Babcock to maybe the largest nhl coaching contract ever at the time, backing this up by saying how great he is as a coach.
1. Babcock only winning one cup with that wings team was criminal 2. Wings hosed a lot of players by giving him that platform where anyone would succeed and be given more opportunities
When you have people say "the story is BS", but won't state their name in an Org....well they are for the Org, not the people (players). It's HR in a company...they aren't there for the employees they are there to prevent employee to company lawsuits.
Mike Babcock, the coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets, was calling players into his office for meetings to get to know the players. During the meetings he was having the players link up their phones to the TV and show the pictures that are in their phone.
Very strange request as he probably observed some private photos of spouses without prior warning. The players probably believed they’d either could lose their privacy at the time or their long term ice time/living… Not a good look at all. Interested to see if the PA addresses this…
Life, not just hockey is like that. The "Carousel" is everywhere, TV, careers, management. I call it trash recycling, same shit different day or place. Media has to be the worst.
No he didn't. Babcock is a bully, he doesn't target established guys, he goes after young players and older guys towards the end of their careers. He feels more powerful as he can affect them more. Gaudreau got himself a fat contract, Babcock couldn't f with him. Jenner is the captain and the NHLPA Rep for the Jackets. Babcock, the bully that he is knows that and with Gaudreau and Jenner, he probably came off like a decent human being having to fake it I'm sure.
calgary flames also had a problem of old way thinking. Babcock was a bad decision to hire in the first place. sorry those who put Babcock as head coach '' boobooed'' That process of fireing Babcock would not have been necessary if the head coach would have been logically chosen. The new coach has good credentials. Lets hope things work out fine from here.
The irony that such an offense coach is so concerned with who is playing for him and their integrity is not lost on me. I’m glad that Whit and Biz brought this out into the open. If he’s doing it; he’s doing it. There’s no way around that and he can ask to see it, but it’s their right to say “No”, without any repercussions.
I’m 49 years old, played hockey since I was probably 4 years old! Played OHL, in Europe, obviously not at the level these guys (. Whitney, Commadore, etc) played, but understand the game, been coached by some elite coaches ( Maurice, Debor)! These tactics or mind games Babcock uses sound pretty stupid and don’t seem project that team brotherhood you need to be successful, but (and not defending him at all) he does seem to be a very successful coach. And I greatly respect guys like Ray Whitney, Bissonette, etc, because I know how fuckin hard it is to make it to that level. People don’t realize how difficult it is to make it to NHL and even harder to stay and have a career as long as these guys did. But (I could be wrong) Babcock is a very successful coach, am I wrong??
Read the Room. Thats the response I got.Bunch of vindictive beestards. These guys are actually out for his hide and are knowingly trying to bury him. Anyone with a bone to pick with Babcock can deal with him face to face or in a Courtroom but no real man is going to crowdsources help to slander an enemy and destroy their lives that cowardly way. Good people go bad, good Apples have a shelf-life, it is what it is.
@@billycao1605 I am saying this is a BS Wichhunt , and I am not saying Babcock did not do the things some claim, I am saying that there are already sufficient numbers and types of Resources available for every NHL Player or Employee to be heard and even Anonymously that there is no need for slimy little online gangs of bullies to try to slander a Man and ruin his career. These things are being Published and released Globally now and they are not being represented as Entertainment Value Fiction, Biz screwed up, which is a very very dangerous situation, this is SLANDER.Whoever "younger Players" were that disclosed Company Business and Intellectual Property in the form of Methodology being used by another Employee to another person/Friend they had legitimate cause to believe would publish it online should be fired or punished.
I can't believe that Babcock would have the audacity to ensure that his players aren't sharing inappropriate pictures of young women or sending 'dick pics' in this age of scrutiny.
He had the greatest Team Canada ever assembled but wanted them to play like the New Jersey Devils. Amazing offense, but no lets win 2-1 games. I could have done a better job of coaching them. They won the gold despite him.
Here’s the thing in my opinion. Ryan Whitney is right, the situation is a stain on the Jackets organization but an entire podcast was able to take down a scumbag coach but also detail an entire organization’s plans for the season. Like, if the players know something is up with Babcock, how are you not handling this internally? You’re gonna run to spitting Chiclets and fight your battle for you? Like, they’ll be another scum bag coach one day bud don’t worry, Ray Whitney and Bizz Nasty will handle it for you! If I’m any organization, I’m not wanting my players talking to them.
kinda surprised that Columbus hired Babcock, but then again it's Columbus, Ohio, so not the brightest people. As a wings fan, glad he's not here anymore. He doesn't treat people right, just seems like he doesn't have people skills.
Wtf are these coaches thinking, I wonder how people Like this even get into a position of a head coach. Makes you wonder how low of values GMs, Presidents, team owners have
Then why have multiple other players tell Biz it was way worse than that? Why is the NHLPA there to investigate (they NEVER do that)? It seems like it's way more than just sharing family photos.
Asking to see photos of a family is at worst a misdemeanour, in fact, you knew the person had a "family" and they were happy to share with you. Where it gets bad is when a player might be uncomfortable sharing. For example, what if a player was gay and keeping it a secret? I'm sure he doesn't want to scroll through his phone with a guy he just met/hockey coach. That's probably not his first choice for baring his soul. The guys that decline in the eyes of Babcock then could be "hiding something", "not living right" or "not good family men" (those are his go-to lines). They then could draw his ire and go into his doghouse. In any event, it tells me that he believes his values are the ones everyone should have (ego) and hasn't grasped that things are different in 2023. I don't know that he will/should be fired. But his tactics for handling people are clearly off the mark. Frankie Corrado seems like a really nice dude and he says that there's no doubt Babcock is a great hockey coach, but his methods for dealing with human beings are lacking.
@@rileystone3017 At one time we said its bad news to let the Inmates run the Asylum....well today we have 2 young generations of less than prepared people who are quickly inheriting control of EVERYTHING.
@@mr.brenman2132 Hopefully on the advice of his Lawyers, Im tired of online gangs of little emotards....I hope Babcock sues every one of the sites/Affiliates who worked together to slander him.Cowardly little snowflakes.
No big deal in the big picture, kinda like the Canucks and Boudreau drama of last season, you move on. Columbus is in a rebuild, hopefully it won't be as forever long as Edmonton's was.
The star players have called BS on the allegation. They carry weight. That said, the PA needs to talk to each player to find out what really happened and then file a grievance if necessary. It’s pretty simple. We don’t want to hear about Babcock past as the league has allowed him to coach again so deal with the allegation in Columbus. This falls to the PA (Players Association) to do their job.
No they don't lol if you knew how corporations work you would know the PR team has been all over them going over what statements to make. I trust the chiclets sources far more because they are friends with half the league and players will contact them with far less of the agenda then people who work for the blue jackets publicly
I get both sides of the story... but is it really THIS BAD asking to see pictures to understand what kind of players you got on your team. I dont understand why the players are so... wtf.
The worst part is U of S will hire him again! He's never gotten anywhere by himself he got the red wings from BOWMAN!!! Team Canada lol a CHIMP can win with that handed to them😅
C'mon guys, one-size-fits-all protective cups don't even cut it in the AHL these days. It may be a sensitive topic, but if you want your new boys to be properly equipped, the coach has got to get 'er done, one way or the other. Phone photos? It could have been worse.
nobody wanted Babs .you sold out blue jackets players now they have to deal with this for the rest of the careers . there was a better way to deal with this . Puck you Ryan and Puck Biz too
