To be fair, all commercial airliners are just busses with wings really. When you get right down to it, you're just paying to get from point A to point B. RyanAir and the other low cost carriers are brilliant at this.
@demoniack81
@demoniack81 3 года назад
@Sky Honkler "The golden age" was golden just because a plane ticket was incredibly expensive. You can still get the same treatment today by flying on semi-private jets - no check in, no security, etc - and the planes are a lot safer, quieter, and faster.

@77smp

@TheRenaissanceman65 I believe that you do have a reserved seat, just you don't get to choose it. I also believe that they have an algorithm that will split up groups or families flying together as so to force them to upgrade and pay for seat selection.
@77smp
@77smp 3 года назад
@TheRenaissanceman65 I may be wrong but I believe that seats on Ryanair didn't used to be allocated hence the benefit of priority boarding. However seats are now specifically allocated prior to boarding.
@77smp
@77smp 3 года назад
@TheRenaissanceman65No, a seat is allocated prior to boarding without extra charge but you don't get to choose it.
@77smp
@77smp 3 года назад
@TheRenaissanceman65 That's not correct. You get given a specific seat number on your boarding pass regardless if you have paid extra. The way they increase the uptake of seat selection is by using the algorithm to split groups plus offer increased carry on luggage. Nobody walks on a Ryanair flight without already knowing where they are sitting. They go to great lengths to promote the benefits of paid seat selection based on the previous reasons plus avoiding a middle seat. If you don't believe me, ask Ryanair or anyone who has flown with them in the last few years.
@77smp
@77smp 3 года назад
@TheRenaissanceman65 Plus the only benefit now of being at the front of the queue is to ensure that you have a better chance to get overhead storage. You may or may not be aware that the resizing of Ryanair carry on luggage must now be able to fit under the seat. From my experience this is not often an issue. But if your bag is too big or you have an extra bag then a hefty charge may be forthcoming.

So no, you cant use the behavior of individuals against the airline itself. Yes you can say you get less. But even that makes no real sense since ryanair even advertises it as that concept. low cost flights can be good if you plan everything with precision . I use Ryanair for flights to UK if just myself and very little baggage . I wouldn’t expect luxury at the low prices and just want to get somewhere as cheap as possible . This being said the prices can soon increase well past the advertised cost , with baggage fees etc often being expensive if left last minute . The only other thing i find with low cost travel is you need to be flexible about dates out and return etc as well as some flights being very early might entail a night in hotel or make a 5 day trip a 3 and a half days one ... and careful planning pre and post airport for onbound travel costs needs looking at .. for example if a flight is 9 pounds but goes at 6 am , i need to be at the airport 04 h 30 ish .. maybe 50 pounds for taxi or hotel plus food and drinks , then taxi other side can push a 9 pounds flight to a couple of hundred quid . This means i could have maybe got a midday KLM flight or something similar for less money overall and have the luxury of normal sleep hours ... experience says cheap online is never cheap in the wallet . All in all , Ryanair have never given me a reason to complain . If i were to pay 10 pounds for a taxi home , i wouldn’t think a chauffeur driven mercedes with driver in a suit and tie would come rolling up to meet me .... same thing for the flights .

Cheaper than a train ticket from Bishops Stortford to London. I have flown many times with Ryanair. As far as bad landings go I’ve only experienced one. Usually they are on time or early. On one occasion my flight from Nice to Stansted was over 3 hours late due to a technical issue. I claimed compensation from Ryanair and received a cheque for over 3 times my return flight cost within 6 weeks. Ryanair have made it so easy for the average person to travel around Europe for a fraction of the cost of any other mode of transport. No wonder they are the most successful airline in Europe.

I was expecting a jetway from the gate to the aircraft, but like you, I had to walk downstairs and onto the tarmac. The only small problem with my flight on Ryanair was that it seemed as if many of the passengers on the flight were talkative and carrying on conversations throughout the cabin. I had to put on some earbuds to flush out all the voices around me. Also at the time, rumor was out that Ryanair was planning to charge for the use of the toilets. I initially paid 15 quid for my flight, but because I didn't know any better at the time, I had a checked bag that brought my ticket price up. Lol. Lesson learned to travel lighter.

You're right, really can't complain about the price, however, I would probably be one of those complaining about having to stand in line at every step. I was surprised about going out on the tarmac. What if it was raining? Guess I've been spoiled with the enclosed direct ramp to the plane. Your coverage made me feel like I was there; got queasy like I always do when I fly.

Interesting, as I’ve only recently moved back to uk I have no experience with the low cost carriers here (tho plenty with us low cost carriers which are nowhere near as low cost anymore). Honestly, that didn’t look that bad despite Ryanair’s horrific reputation. Never used Stansted even tho I live v close to it now, shopping looked good I guess but I’ve never used an airport that is that big without air bridges

Well Ryanair is not so bad, I used to fly often from (Frankfurt) Hahn to Marrakesh and Malaga. Always friendly, always on time, never had any problems. The only thing is that I mesure 6ft2, and thatfor the space betweed the seats was quite... how to call it, narrow. For the rest, never had complains.

Get what you mean about waiting for planes to be ready. Coming back from Budapest Ryanair boarded everyone, we all had to wait in a stairwell type thing like you did, then got let out on the tarmac, only to discover the plane was 20 minutes behind and still 10 minutes or so off even landing. Thankfully it was a nice sunny morning but I did wonder why shove everyone through when there's no plane to board?

I've only ever been delayed once with Ryanair and that was only 45 minutes. You get what you pay for, although I do think having passengers hanging around on stairwells and the tarmac is not a good idea - apart from anything else, it's hardly good health and safety practice. That said, my main grouse about Ryanair is how badly they treat their staff.

Row 12 is probably as far back as Club Europe (Business Class) goes but when there isn't demand for it, they use it as Economy Class.

If you took off from 04 why was the wing shadow behind you on the ground?
@DylansTravelReports
@DylansTravelReports 3 года назад
Because runway 04 is a north-easterly runway (ie the aircraft is taking off on a heading between 035⁰ and 044⁰.) As it is early morning and the sun rises in the east you can expect the showdow to be behind the aircraft.

I see you encountered the curse of #boardingbutnotboarding Ryanair have always been great when I've flown with them. Excellent value, punctual and aircraft that are much more comfortable, in my opinion, than the A319's used by Easyjet. Shame about the airport guy telling you off for filming. I'm finding a lot more staff, both onboard and on the ground, are getting increasingly touchy and combative about this recently.

Stansted is lovely - but the price from London by any mode of transport is incredibly steep and generally double the price of the flight. The thing with Ryanair is that, sure, they're cheap... but you can never trust they'll be on time and in my 30+ flights with them, they've been more delayed than on-time. Although it's a shame everyone talks of "Ryanair hard landings" - they're not better or worse than any other airline in my experience!

Comments on Ryanair are legion, but they do a pretty good job at what they do, getting you from point A to point B. which is why anyone takes a trip anyway. Flight looked rather empty, but I'm sure the lack of pitch might be a problem when it's full. Still 25-30 USD to Milan would make up for that. Good job. BTW is there a train that goes from London to Stansted?
